Guardians of Hades – Progress update on my paranormal romance WIP

It’s been over a week since I last blogged about my progress on the first book in the Guardians of Hades series. I’ve been working hard on it since then, and it’s now up to 64000 words. That’s a little over half of the book written in first draft.

I’m not really feeling it today though, and wasn’t yesterday. I think my writing schedule is causing me a headache and has made me stutter a little. My flow has stopped for the moment. Now I have to do something to get it back again, and while I do that, I need to keep on top of things.

I don’t think it’s helping that I’m stuck in my house today. I don’t mind writing at home, but it’s full of distractions, which is why I prefer to head out to a cafe when I need to get a serious amount of words on screen in every writing session. I’m a good writer though, so I always have a plan. Yes, I’m not feeling the writing bug right now, but that doesn’t mean I can kick back and do nothing, allowing my schedule to get totally out of hand. I’m experienced enough to know there is no point in forcing myself to write when I don’t feel like it. That means I have only one real option. I get all the promotion stuff, admin work, emailing, arranging of dates for a huge promotion run for Her Demonic Angel, etc done and off my list. This means that I’m effectively exchanging time I had set aside for that stuff in the rest of the week for time I can then use to write when the bug comes back and firmly bites me. Clever, eh?

I think my lack of interest in writing today may also have something to do with the fact that I didn’t get any done yesterday. I was stuck in admin hell, getting more books up onto Apple and a lot of other stuff that needed my attention. I had thought I could do it quickly (don’t we always?), but I woke up feeling under the weather with a bad throat, and that sort of slowed me down.

But still, on a more positive note, the book is coming along nicely and I think it’s turning out pretty good. I’m getting a shiny editor for it because I’m intent on this one turning out as nothing but terrific and I’ve recently become obsessed with a freelancing site that I’ve found really wonderful people on (the people who translated Covet into German for me). I think it will be nice to work with an editor for a change and I’m interested to see how much time it frees up for me. I still have to edit the book before I then give it to an editor, but I’m hoping it might cut some time out of my schedule. That means I can write more. Yay!

Now I need to crack on and get everything on my list for the week done and I can hopefully end the week back on schedule with this novel!

Guardians of Hades – Progress on the first draft of book one in the series!

It has been a long but fruitful week. I’ve completed the first round of proofing for Her Demonic Angel so I can now focus on getting the first draft of Guardians of Hades Book One written. Exciting news for me, and hopefully for you too.

I had a slow start because of my writing jitters, but I managed to get the first chapter written on Tuesday, and on Wednesday increased that to the first three chapters, ending with around 11500 words written in the first two days. That’s below my usual output but it has been a very slow start with this book.

I’m picking up speed now though. I had some ideas for tweaks for the first three chapters, so my first task this morning was to go through each chapter and complete my tweaks, improving the description and adding some things I had thought about on my day off on Thursday. I finished today at 20500 words, and had to force myself to stop because my back was getting achy from sitting for so long and my fingers were tired. It’s closer to the speed I like to write at, clocking up 9000 words today. Hopefully, I can hit my optimum 10000 words a day next week and then we’ll be flying.

I’m really enjoying writing the series so far and I’m still really excited about it. I think you guys are all going to absolutely love these godly brothers. I’ve reached a scene where all seven sexy heroes are in the same room with the first heroine, and hell, she’s finding it hard to concentrate despite her dire situation. There are a few brothers that scare her, but her hero and the eldest brother have her mesmerised!

I’ll hopefully wrap up this chapter on Monday and then I get to dive back into the heroes head as he has a meeting with his brothers to address a few sticky issues, namely his antagonist.

Writing for two days in my usual cafe in my town has led to a decision that I don’t like it there as much as I like it at the Starbucks near where my husband works. It’s much easier to concentrate there because there are less kids running amuck and the seats are more comfortable, and the lighting is natural. It’s just a nicer place to work. The local cafe in my town has bench seats like Starbucks, but the seat is too deep so I can’t sit with my back against the padded back, and I end up hunched forwards and get a crick in my neck. Not a great environment for writing.

I’m hoping to spend time at the Starbucks next week and my productivity should rise to reach my daily writing targets.

Still, with the first 20000 words of the book done, I now have a better impression of the characters and the story, as well as the series, and I really do think you guys are going to love it!

Guardians of Hades – Writing the series for a proposal has given me a case of the butterflies!

I am both excited and very nervous today. It’s that weird mixture of trepidation and adrenaline and doubts and confidence, and general craziness that sometimes hits an author when they’re about to begin writing something new. It’s the blank canvas effect I used to suffer when painting or drawing. You know what’s in your head, and you want it to look as amazing as it does there when you get it down onto paper, but you have these niggling voices that tell you it’s not going to… it’s going to suck.

My stomach is somersaulting better than most Olympians.

I know the way to overcome the nerves is to sit down, get a playlist together that suits my characters and the book, put that music on, scan my outline for the book and just let it flow, but it’s never as easy to do something as it is to say it… or think it.

I guess I’m writing this post mostly because I’m extremely excited about finally putting fingers to keyboard on a first draft of the first book in this series (and also extremely nervous) and also because I know a lot of writers out there will be able to empathise with me on this one, and it might help a lot of new authors if they know that if they get a case of the butterflies before or even during writing a book, it’s perfectly normal and even the most seasoned of writers experience it.

For me, the nerves this time around are there for several reasons. The Guardians of Hades series is one that I originally came up with back in 2008 and since then I’ve been working on it in dribs and drabs, never quite finding the time to sit down and write it. I wanted to be at the top of my game when I wrote this one. I wanted to have ironed out every little bump in my writing so I could do a fantastic job on it, because I REALLY wanted it to look on paper as it does in my head. I knew that back in 2008, I wasn’t at the level of writing to do that. I had some issues to overcome, and much more to learn. I’m constantly learning–from each book I write, each book I read, each article I scan over, and everything I hear. I never stop learning and I never stop trying to reach the top of this writing game, and I know that to reach that pinnacle, I need to keep learning and not stagnate and declare that I’m perfect and I don’t need to grow as a writer. Every writer needs to keep growing, keep learning, and keep reading. If you think you don’t, then you’re only hurting yourself.

The other reason I’m experiencing a bad case of the jitters is because I’m writing this series for a proposal. Yes, a proposal as in something that will become a submission to an editor at a publishing house. I have always maintained that this series was going to be the one I approached New York with and I stand by that, even in this age of indies. I’m a success as an indie writer, but I’m not one to count my chickens before they’ve hatched, meaning I don’t bank on indies being forever as successful as they are today. I want a slice of both pies, a foot in each pond, and any other metaphor you want to throw in there. I also still believe that to reach my maximum potential audience, I need to keep expanding and break out beyond where I am now, and to do that, I need some major backing. I’ve built myself a very good platform and I have fantastic readers who support me through thick and thin, but I want to take that to the next level. I want to reach new readers and there’s still a huge percentage of them who prefer paperbacks to ebooks, or who prefer published to indie. I don’t fall on one side of the argument or the other about indie vs published. Both are writers, and I’m a writer, and to reach my goals, I need to take advantage of every possible avenue open to me.

I was recently given the opportunity to speak to the wonderful agent of a very wonderful author who hooked me up with her. I honestly never expected the agent to email me, or for us to strike up a conversation about this series, or her to see the potential in it and my author brand. I can’t thank this amazing, friendly author enough for what she did for me, a relative stranger and also a kindred soul. She’s given me a boost up the ladder towards that star I’m trying to reach at the top. Now I just have to live up to my hype and produce a book and a series that will blow not only the agent away, but New York with her.

Wish me luck!

Guardians of Hades – progress update on my paranormal romance series

I was surprised to see that my last update on my progress on the planning of my Guardians of Hades series was two weeks ago. It just goes to show how caught up I am in planning the paranormal romance series and how much work it is that it’s keeping me busy practically every hours of my working day at the moment.

It’s an epic series to get into order but I’ve made fantastic progress on it over the past couple of weeks and I’ve now reached the point where I’m close to planning and writing the outline of the first book in the series, which belongs to the second eldest brother.

I’ve spent a lot of time each day working on this series. I’ve been getting the world into order and finalising some of the details about it, as well as the characters. I’ve focused mostly on the brothers and the first heroine for now, with more basic bios in place for the other heroines in the this monumental seven novel series. I’ve also been thinking about the enemy a lot and writing up bios for secondary characters like Hades and Persephone. They’ll be playing their part throughout the series, so it’s important I have a character reference type sheet for them.

There’s been a lot of research happening these past couple of weeks too. Greek mythology has always fascinated me since I was young, a little like vampires have and dragons too. I know a lot about Greek mythology and the gods and goddesses, but it’s been fun to learn about the lesser known deities like Nyx (she’s more like a primordial deity – like an embodiment of something) and her children (like Thanatos, god of death, and Hypnos, god of dreams / sleep) and the twelve Olympians (of which Hades was not one, poor bloke… no wonder he has a problem with his younger brothers!) and the Titanomachy (that big war where Zeus, Poseidon and Hades decided to attempt to kill their parents and threw the Titans off their thrones and seized power). I actually spent a few days with the word ‘Titanomachy’ stuck in my head.

I’ve really enjoyed getting this series into order and working on the characters and refreshing my memory. You have to remember that I’ve been working on this series since 2008, so there’s a slew of conflicting ideas as the years progressed, stuff that I clearly thought was a great idea as I repeated it in several different ways throughout my notes, and lots of parts where I leap around trying to decide who would make the best enemy! Needless to say, there are bits I’ve tossed in the trash, and ideas I’ve given more importance to, and characters who have departed, replaced by new, bigger, badder characters.

The hardest part has been constantly reminding myself that all I need right now is a clear idea of the overall plot that links the individual novels and forms the series arc, the main characters who will feature in book one, knowledge of who the enemy is and the other characters who’ll appear in later books, and stuff about the world. It’s been hard. My writer mind wants everything figured out right now in infinite detail. I don’t normally write series that have a particular story arc flowing through all of the books. I tend to write about worlds instead, using that to link each book.

Today, I’ve been busy ironing out a few more details, writing a list of things that happen in each book – either stuff that gets revealed / explained or major events that drive the series forwards – and drawing floor plans for two of the buildings featured in the series and writing about them. I always do this with buildings I know are going to appear more than once. It’s much easier than accidentally contradicting myself in book 3 or having to dig through each book for the descriptions before I can write about that place again. Believe me, it’s worth doing this before writing a book. It makes it so much easier when you just have to reference your floor plan and the sheet you’d written about that apartment, building, etc and you can keep adding to the sheet if you decide to include something new or change something.

But that’s enough of the inner workings of my writer mind. I need to get back to writing rough character arcs for the other six brothers so I know where they are in book 1 and where they’re kind of heading.

Hope you’re all still liking the sound of the series!

Guardians of Hades – progress update on the paranormal romance series

I’ve made a nice graphic to go with the posts I will be writing about this series as it gets underway. Yes, that’s the official name of the series that I’ve had under wraps for many years now. I figured that since I’m going to start writing the series now, I can use the proper series name.

I thought I would hint at what you can expect from the series in the picture. I guess you would say that is one of the brothers, but I can’t really give you much other than that.

I spent part of yesterday working on this series. At the moment, I’m trying to get the series notes into order. It’s not going to be easy. This is a massive world with a lot of details, especially where the brothers and the two main realms are concerned. So far, I’ve printed all the notes I had on the world, the stories and the characters. I have around 75,000 words of notes on this series. That’s a lot of notes to sort into some semblance of order. I’ve gone through with a highlighter to mark up what I think is world, character and story related. Yesterday I took one of the main documents and split those notes into separate word documents. I moved a lot of it into a document about the heroes/brothers and into a general series arc/outline.

I had to smile at the end of sorting through the notes at this stage. I ended up with 5500 words in the document for the brothers and just 500 words in the notes for the heroines! I guess these stories are focused on the hero, but since they are the guardians and brothers, it makes sense. Most of the notes for the individual heroines are in the respective document for their story. I have to sort those out next as I mixed story, hero/heroine character notes, and snippets that will happen in other stories for that hero/heroine into one document. I need to weed out the character notes, and also anything that will actually be in another hero’s book.

My OCD and perfectionist nature wants me to be able to neatly split the notes I have into documents and not have to have some notes repeat in other documents, but I think I’m going to have to accept that there will be some crossover with the notes, especially where character bios and heroes notes are concerned. It’s easier to have general notes about the brothers in one organised document for quick reference, but also have the vital info in the individual bio too.

I don’t think I’ve had to tackle sorting a series this huge into order before. Four years of notes just vaguely tossed into files they sort of relate to has left a bit of a crazy mess. Not to mention that I also have a stack of notes on paper to type up.

I think I’m still on track to get this series into order, all the details ironed out, character bios all filled in, and everything finished soon. I have a bit of research to do and I need to book some time with my muse to get him to offer up descriptions of some characters, the world, and other elements. Once I’ve got everything about the series into a sort of series bible, I can then get on with finishing the planning of the first story…

I’ll be a tease here and say the first hero is pretty much the guy on my picture up there… complete with sexy tattoo.

I should have been getting on with rearranging all these series notes today, and I woke early with that intention, but then I realised that Smashwords had finally removed my books from Kobo and I could add all my books directly to Kobo Books via WritingLife. That ate up my morning and part of my afternoon. Now it’s almost 4pm. I started work at 7am. How does time move so quickly when you have so much to do?

I hope you like the sexy new picture and the title of the series though. Does it look and sound like your sort of thing? Seven sexy demigod brothers on a mission to protect our world and theirs from daemons intent on destroying the fragile bridge between our realms… what’s not to love, right?

I really wish I could talk about the brothers… I think you’re really going to adore them!

My sexy sons of Hades are finally hitting centre stage!

I’m excited today. Very excited. Back in 2008, I had an idea for a series about the seven demi-god sons of Hades. I’ve always loved Hades as a god in Greek mythology, and have always had a soft-spot for mythology in general. I’ve never seen the relationship he had with his wife as anything other than one born of love and passion. I know, he practically abducts her in the myths, but the romantic in me likes to think that Persephone knew what she was doing when she ate those pomegranate seeds. When I think about Hades and Persephone, I think about them in love, one soul full of light and the other full of darkness. They’re a balance for each other (much like many of my heroes and heroines). I’ve looked at pictures of them before and one I really loved and felt summed up everything I feel about them as a couple was this picture by Sandara on DeviantArt:

See how she’s all light to his darkness? I adore the looks on their faces too, that sort of moment of eye contact that would give you a hot jolt. This picture always backs up my impression that Hades needed Persephone because she was from a world he couldn’t enter but one he longed to be part of. She’s his link to the light and everything he desires. Plus, I always imagine Hades is sexy as hell. This is definitely the sort of image I have of him and Persephone, and just imagine how delicious their sons would be! I know the series is about their sons, but both Hades and Persephone will feature in it too.

I’ve been working on the series about my strapping, sexy Hades’ boys ever since 2008. We’ve often discussed their stories, their pasts, and their heroines. In fact, we’ve discussed it so much that I have over 75,000 words of notes on the series and the books, and these seven sons. Hell, we’ve even discussed their parents and the boys are very touchy about anyone who says their father kidnapped their mother and forced her into marriage. According to them, Persephone adores her doting yet dark husband.

It’s a series that I have been wanting to write since I first came up with the idea four years ago but I have always delayed it. At first, I delayed it because I wanted to really hone my craft and make sure I was at the peak of my writing ability when I penned the stories. I didn’t want to write them and then look back and wish I hadn’t because I could do it so much better at that future point in my career as a paranormal romance author. I also wanted to give the series time to come to me piece by piece. This series is epic, and the characters are larger than life and the sort who will have you melting or chomping at the bit to get your hands on the next brother’s book. The world is so huge that it needed time to come together and form, and I didn’t want to force it.

I’ve only spoken a little about the series with readers, but whenever I talk about it, it seems to draw your attention. I love that. I really think you guys will enjoy it because it has my usual blend of passion, mindblowing action, extreme twists, heroines who will go out there and get their man/heal their man/bring that bad boy to his knees, and heroes who will really capture your attention and your hearts. They’re the sort of heroes that I know you’re all going to love. A combination of sinful, lethal, dangerous and powerful. Think of past heroes like Julian, Snow (okay, so he’s a future hero), Aleksandr, Valentine, Kearn, Antoine, and any of the others who are tortured, emotionally distant, snarky, arrogant, or downright dangerous and a little bit crazy. That’s the sort of sexy brand of hero you’ll be getting, and to top it all off, they’re brothers! Not brothers by a bond, but brothers by blood. Who wouldn’t want seven sexy brothers?

It’s a very big world too, with gods and goddesses, different realms, magic, demons, and all manner of creatures in between. It will be laden with mythology. If you liked what I did in Love Immortal, then you’ll probably love this series to pieces. If you like the depth of world building I have in my Vampires Realm series, then you’ll really enjoy this one.

Can you tell I’m excited about it and finally getting to write it? I can’t wait to put fingers to keyboard and get working on the first book. They’re all going to be novel length and epic paranormal romances.

It’s a world that I really can’t wait to share with you all. I’ll keep you posted as I’m writing the books and we can explore the world and the characters together. I hope you’re all as excited about it as I am. I know it’s a departure from my usual vampires, but so were my angels and you all seem to love my winged heroes as much as my fanged ones now.

Do you enjoy a blend of mythology in your books? Looking forward to see what sexy demi-god heroes I can come up with? Feel free to leave a comment and put in your opinion.

Editing, designing, and actually some relaxing

I’ve been scatterbrained all week because I’m really absorbed in playing Assassins Creed: Brotherhood at the moment. Since my original PlayStation 3 went kaput with the red light of death post software update (and Sony denies that it could possibly have anything to do with that) and I had to get a new one, I wanted to play a game that I hadn’t started and lost the data for. AC: Brotherhood was that game. I think I’ll definitely end up re-playing the second Assassin’s Creed game too as I loved that one to pieces, and playing this one has opened a deep desire to play that one too.

I have managed to get some progress done on my second draft of Her Guardian Angel. The edit is coming along really well but I want to get it finished this week because I’m away on holiday for a few days next week. I don’t want to lose my flow with the story and know that I will if I suddenly have a break at such a critical moment. I have around 60 more pages to edit, but that includes beefing up a few scenes, and adding in a completely new scene to the ending to really magnify it and make it end on a more dramatic and satisfying conclusion. I can’t see it taking me too long to get it done, and I think I can definitely get it done this week if I’m good and can resist the lure of AC: Brotherhood long enough to actually get some decent work done.

I still haven’t decided whether I’ll be writing another story in this series. I need to weigh up everything I want to get done for next year and see if I have room for it, and see if there’s enough interest in the series when Her Guardian Angel hits virtual shelves. If there’s a good response to this novel, then I might write another novel in the series.

Aside from editing, I’ve been busy adding a new section to my website. I have a fun stuff section back in place now. At the moment, there’s just some computer desktop calendar wallpapers there. I’ll be adding more stuff as it comes to me. You can find it in the main menu of my website under the heading Goodies.

I’ve been busily writing down notes this week too, mostly for stories in the Hades’ Boys series, Vampires Realm series, or Shadow & Light Trilogy. I’m hoping to get some more books written for the latter two series soon, and also get the Hades’ Boys series started.

Part of my preparation for writing this new series, and continuing my writing in general, comes in the form of four new books that I purchased last week. I’ll review them here when I’m done with them and let everyone know what I thought about them, and whether I think they’re any good as tools in a writer’s toolbox. Here’s a list of the ones I’ve bought:

Characters and Viewpoint by Orson Scott Card
Beginnings, Middles and Ends by Nancy Kress
20 Master Plots and how to build them by Ronald B Tobias
What If? Writing Exercises for Fiction Writers by Anne Bernays and Pamela Painter

I’m mostly interested in the first two books at the moment. I also want to re-read some of my books that I love and keep on my shelves. Most of them are in the Write Great Fiction range and are really useful and insightful. I’ve learned plenty from them.

I think I’m going to read the first two books on this list before I write Masquerade, my next Vampires Realm novel/novella.

In other news, I’ve been busy formatting all the files for Forbidden Blood‘s release on June 18th. It’s going to be a manic release weekend for me as I’m away in Istanbul just before it and won’t have much time to prepare for the release. I’m hoping to get Forbidden Blood added to Smashwords and Amazon just before I go, so it should be available for purchase at those sites a few days before its official release. Not long now. I hope you’ve all been enjoying the sneak preview chapters of this book, and that you’ll rush out to buy it. It’s going to be a great new series for me. I’m debating whether to set up a mini-site for the series, a little like my Vampires Realm website.

That’s all from me for now. Excuse any typos as I’m tired and it’s cold in my office today, which makes typing difficult… and I really need to crack on with my work!

Her Guardian Angel second draft and blog tour

It’s been another mixed week for me here in castle Heaton. I started the week with a schedule for each day, and I’ve stuck to it for the most part, but there has been a little shift here and there between my set times for thing. I haven’t been spending as much time editing Her Guardian Angel as I should have been as I have so many guest blog spots coming up in my blog tour and I wanted to get ahead of the game and get lots of them done now.

I have another 6 or so to write and then I’m clear until the end of June. I’m hoping to get some of them written this weekend and then sent out. The crazy thing is I have around 18 blog dates for promoting Forbidden Blood and now I have to think of 18 unique things to do for them!

Monday and Tuesday was spent catching up on admin stuff and also addressing comments that I had made during my initial read through of Her Guardian Angel. I started out with 106 comments, mostly notes on improving areas, adding new stuff, repetition, and other things. I worked my way down to 13 major comments (generally layering more stuff into scenes or adding new stuff) and prepped for starting the full edit. I was meant to start that on Wednesday, but wound up writing blog posts and doing other stuff related to writing. I did start my edit again today, and have reached page 27 of 220. It doesn’t sound like much, but at this stage it’s good progress. I’m pleased with the story so far and it’s in good nick, so doesn’t need heavy editing, just polishing and tweaking, and paying attention to the details.

I also signed up to participate in Six Sentence Sunday, so watch out for my first one this Sunday, and sorted out my blog tour schedule, including adding new dates.

I think it’s been quite a productive week, and my muse is enjoying my new structured approach to my days, although I think he’d like a bit of a break for a few days. I think I’ve worked every day for the past couple of weeks, so I need some downtime and some rest. I did manage to get another book read this week. It was a Kindle freebie, Her Vampire Husband by Michele Hauf. Much better than the previous freebie I had read by her, Kiss Me Deadly, which I only gave 2 stars to and that was a push. This one gained 3 stars from me, and I would have given it 4 but I was a bit irritated by the heroine and the authors blatant attempts to make her sound young. I like a more mature kick-ass kind of heroine in my stories.

This week has also seen me thinking about my release schedule for next year, and also writing notes for the next book in the Shadow and Light Trilogy. The first book, Ascension, has been getting great reviews, so there’s all this pressure to make the next novel just as good, if not better, than it. I don’t mind a challenge, and I think the story I have in mind will appease readers and reviewers. There’ll be plenty of action and passion in this one too, and a very kick-ass Taig and Lealandra, and yeah, they might just go to Hell to find out what happened to Taig’s parents.

Other books I’ve been writing up notes for are When Darkness Falls which is a Vampires Realm story I’ll be writing for next year, and also my Hades’ Boys series. I’m really hoping to start writing that series this year and to get the first couple of books in it released next year. It’s going to be a kick-ass series and I think everyone will really like the heroes in it, and the heroines too because they’ll do their share of kicking butt, or at least assisting to kick butt.

I think next year is going to be as full of paranormal romance books as this year is for me. I wish I could find the time to write another science fiction romance, but I have to focus on what my muse is into, and at the moment it’s vampires, demons, and gods, with the odd angel tossed in for good measure.

I also think next year is going to be a year for series books. At the moment, I’m planning to release the Shadow and Light Trilogy #2.5 and Shadow and Light Trilogy #3. Book 2.5 in the series is a novella focusing on another two characters in the series. Alongside those two books, I’ll release another Vampire Venators story, as well as one or two Vampires Realm stories. I’m debating whether to write another novel or novella in the Her Angel series. I do have a character in mind for one, but I’m not sure whether it’s novel or novella material. He’s in the Her Guardian Angel novel, so you’ll get to meet him then. I’ll judge whether to continue the series when that one is released.

Last up for next year is my Hades’ Boys. I need to design a website for it, gather all my materials, and also prepare other stuff for it. It’s going to be a very big series of seven novels. I have the first three roughly planned, and their place in the overall arc that runs through the series. I think the characters are basically there now, with only a little more work needed on them. I’ve been working on this series in the background since 2007 or maybe 2008. It’s been years anyway. It’s probably about time that I wrote it, and I feel I’m in a place now where I can justify writing it and I feel I’ll make a top job of it. I’ve been reluctant before now because I wanted to write it when I was at the top of my game, and had learned enough about writing to produce something amazing with this series. All seven books will be linked, although there’ll be individual baddies for each hero to fight, but those baddies will all be part of the same team, and I’ll reveal little by little who the big bad is behind everything. Just talking about it makes me want to write it!

Back to work for me.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is the third chapter of Forbidden Blood on Sneak Peek Saturday. There’s only 21 days left before this book is released in e-book, and shortly afterwards in paperback.

Also, don’t forget to enter my 500 BLOG FOLLOWERS INTERNATIONAL GIVEAWAY if you haven’t already. Following the instructions on the giveaway page. Invite your friends too. We’re up to 375 followers now, so there’s only another 25 to go before we reach the next level of prizes!

Plans for 2011 writing and Forbidden Blood

I’m listing to Pete Murray… he makes me think of beautiful Australia… and sunny Cairns… and steals me away from the frosty chill of London.

Well, having finished the read through of Forbidden Blood, it’s fairly clear that it’s going to be the next book I’ll release after Hunter’s Moon. Forbidden Blood is in good shape, with only minor things to address, so I’ll be able to get the polish edit done on it by the date of my ear operation (February 10th). It’s a novel length vampire romance book, currently around 110,000 words. I’m quite excited about releasing it and I keep thinking about writing another book set in the world I’ve created for it. I think readers will enjoy the story though and I can’t wait to release it.

My never ending schedule change is still in progress too. Now that Forbidden Blood is set as the March 26th release, I have to think about the next one. I have a slot on May 7th that I want to use for a pay-for book rather than a freebie. At the moment, I’m set to release Ascension then, which is a witch / demon paranormal romance book, sort of urban fantasy romance.

I’m still planning to release 11 stories in 2011. 8 of those will be pay-for stories and 3 of them will be free ebooks. I’m going to write two stories for my A Day in the Life series, and another story in my Eternity series (Hyperion’s history – sub-series of the Vampires Realm series). I’m also going to polish up the Eternity covers to have them match the other Vampires Realm ones.

At the moment, we’re looking at this sort of ordering for the pay-for stories, with the release dates flexible:

February 26th 2011 – Hunter’s Moon
The next story in the Vampires Realm series, Hunter’s Moon takes us away from Europe to the wilderness of Canada, where Tatyana, a vampire of the Nocens bloodline of Budapest, finds herself at the mercy of an ex-alpha and ex-compound werewolf, Nicolae. And the guy has a serious chip on his shoulder. Sparks will fly!

March 26th 2011 – Forbidden Blood
A dark vampire romance novel, Forbidden Blood is set in London and follows the vampire hero, Kearn, as he fights to catch a man he’s been after for three years. His elusive opponent appears before him in a London back street but a young beautiful woman named Amber hinders Kearn and the man escapes. But all is not lost. The enemy has given Amber a taste of his blood in order to control her and if Kearn’s suspicions are correct, he’ll come after her again. A decision to use her as bait turns into a struggle against a dangerous attraction as they fight to defeat the enemy and protect her life.

May 7th 2011 – Ascension
Ascension is an urban fantasy romance novel, mixing one stubborn half-demon hero, Taig, with his ex-lover and just as stubborn witch heroine, Lealandra. When her life is threatened and her Counter-Balance is killed, Lealandra turns to Taig for protection, but 6 years has done nothing to heal the hurt she caused by leaving him for another man and the coven, and he’s not about to help her without her paying a high price! Lealandra understands why Taig is acting up, but she hasn’t touched another man in all the years they’ve been apart. Her heart has remained constant, and only Taig has been in it. Seeing the pain she caused, Lealandra works to soothe it and hopes to finally help Taig face the issues he has about his demonic heritage and open his heart to her.

July 30th 2011 – Her Guardian Angel
The only novel in the Her Angel series, Her Guardian Angel promises to be a thrill ride from page one. Bringing back all of the angels from the first three novellas, this story is packed full of danger and intrigue, and a hero who will steal your heart. Marcus isn’t interested in his new role of protecting Amelia and posing as her neighbour, but when the two start to grow closer and Marcus discovers that Amelia is about to die, it becomes a race against time to save her life. But will he be successful? Can he stop something that has been foretold?

September 10th 2011 – Heart of Darkness
Set in the beautiful city of Prague in the dead of winter, Heart of Darkness is a novel of passion and possession. Aleksandr, once a prince of his vampire kind, has spent four centuries relentlessly pursuing the relatives of the man who murdered his sister and the constant bloodshed is taking its toll on him, turning him towards the darkness and into the beast all vampires once were. Battling the darkness after killing another hunter, Aleksandr meets Elise, a guard of the Cerny bloodline, and she instantly drives the black from his heart and his mind, restoring his balance. Curiosity about the effect she has on him, and her beauty, drive him to pursue her, but the charm that had once helped him have any woman he wanted fails to have an effect on Elise. If he wants to win her, he will have to change his ways and learn how modern men pursue the women they are falling in love with, but it’s a race against time as the darkness threatens to take control. Only Elise’s love can save him, but even then will it be enough when he faces the last hunter and the end of his vendetta?

October 22nd 2011 – Masquerade
The second story being released in the Vampires Realm series in 2011, Masquerade follows two elite guards as they battle both the threat of vampire hunters and their apparent hatred for each other to protect the lords and ladies of all the pure bloodlines of Europe at the Creator Day masquerade ball! But hate is so close to love, and a dance whilst hidden behind a mask can lead from one thing to another…

December 3rd 2011 – Hellcat
A hunter by trade, he can’t resist the lure of a rare species, but is it wise to fall for a Hellcat? This shape-shifting kitty isn’t about to be caught, certainly not by a hunter, and definitely not by the alpha cat pursuing her across the globe, but the two men might just cancel each other out. It takes little more than a flicker of charm and a sultry smile to win the hunter over, but will he be able to keep her rightful mate off her tail long enough for her to escape? And why the heck is she feeling guilty about using the guy for protection?

There’ll be the three free ebooks in there somewhere too.

I’ll also be squeezing in time this year to write a new Vampires Realm novel for release in early 2012 and the first couple of stories in my Hades’ Boys series… which isn’t the real title. lol. It’s a series of 7 books about some seriously sexy alpha gods (all brothers – their mamma is very proud of her strapping lads) intent on stopping our world and theirs from colliding! I’ll be releasing all 7 novels over 2012, 2013 and 2014. Expect to be blown away.

Upcoming romance releases

It has been a while since I’ve had a release that hasn’t been a short freebie. Sorry about that. I focused so much on trying to get an agent that I didn’t have any releases. I’ve been working hard to rectify that and I’m happy to say that I now have one complete novella, Her Dark Angel, to release at the end of the month.

It has been sooooo long since I’ve had a new release that needed promoting that I’ve completely forgotten the process. Lol. It’s going to be a steep learning curve again. I need to get ads in place, and blog appearances, and reviews requested.

My release after that, at least releases that aren’t part of my free A Day in the Life, series, is going to be Her Fallen Angel around Halloween, and then following that it will be Her Warrior Angel, in December. Yes, the Her Angel series are all sort of linked. Much like my Sons of Lyra and Daughters of Lyra series, you don’t have to read them in order. Characters do make appearances in the other novellas though, so you might want to read them in order to know who is who.

I have the second draft of Her Fallen Angel finished, but now I’m thinking that I want to change the ending to make it more of an ending and more dramatic. At the moment, it’s more of a set up for the third novella, but I don’t want readers to feel they’ve read an incomplete story. So I’m changing the ending. I have one in mind. I’ll read the novella once I’ve finished typing up my Hades’ Boys notes and change the ending when I get there to make it better and just how I want it.

I’m really hoping everyone enjoys my angels. They’re rather yummy. Need I say more?

Next year I’ll release a bunch of novels that I have which are either complete or almost complete at the moment. Yes, those four novels you’ve all been reading about will be coming out. That’s Love Immortal (demi-gods, vampires, paranormal people, and werewolves), Ascension (a witch & her half-demon hero), Forbidden Blood (vampire romance) and Heart of Darkness (vampire romance).

I still need to make the covers for them, but I’ll work on those when my website is live. I’ll get the covers for Her Fallen Angel, Her Warrior Angel and Love Immortal done soon and then post them all so you can shout out what you think of them.

The releases of the four novels will be spread out over 2011, and I’ll be writing more novels and novellas.

At the moment, I have ideas in storage for three novellas (all paranormal romances), and six/seven novels (paranormal romance, dark fantasy romance, and science-fiction romance). I won’t get all of them written by the end of next year, but I can try. Some of the ideas have more notes for them than others. With novellas, I don’t generally write masses of notes. It’s quicker just to write them, and they have fewer twists than novels, so need less planning.

I also want to do second-editions of a few of my earlier 2006/2007 stories if possible. I have at least 4 that I want to edit again and improve. I’ll see how that goes and consider doing the rest. It’s all go again!
