I have a new guest author this week – the wonderful Sheri Fredricks! She’s here to talk about the third book in her series and share a hot excerpt! I’ll hand things over to her now…

 

Hi Felicity! Thank you for inviting me to be a guest on your blog today.

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Sheri Fredricks and I love to create modern mythic romance stories. My sensual books hold the hidden secrets of shape-shifting centaur warriors, wood nymphs who disappear into trees, trolls who dive underground—and more!

I’m currently writing a series called The Centaurs.

Abelia rocked her hips forward. She rode his hand with instinct, and a passion so pure that it dragged Jack down into her uninhibited intensity. He grasped hold and tugged the top of her sundress down farther and used a ferocious suction on her nipple that caused her to cry out. His thumb pressed and flicked while his finger slid rhythmically deeper. Jack’s hard won self-control all but disintegrated as he slipped a second finger into her amazingly snug channel.

Her body jolted with a burst as is she’d become overwhelmed with sensation, and he reveled in her responsiveness. Her hands gripped his wrist, desperately holding him to her, and she again cried out from his teasing fingers.

The wood floor lay unforgiving beneath his knees, yet he hardly felt its bite as he slid lower over Abelia’s body. When his eyes were even with her glistening sex, Jack removed his hand and in a quick movement, replaced it with his mouth. WIP Wednesday – Danger: Hot and Possessive Demon King Alert!

It has been a while since I’ve written a WIP Wednesday blog post updating you all on the progress in my writing and what books might be coming soon. Sorry about that. Blogging fell to the wayside a little when I hit a really busy patch with the release of Her Wicked Angel, putting together the Dark and Dangerous boxed set, and editing Kissed by a Dark Prince.

I’m back though, and I thought I would update you on the Eternal Mates series. I’ve just completed the first draft of Claimed by a Demon King. Because of all the interruptions (two book releases) I had a hard time writing this one. It would flow and then it would dry up and I wouldn’t feel like writing. That’s the difficult part of being an author. We all wear so many hats and sometimes it’s hard to switch between them, going from engaging the marketing/promotion side of my brain to the writing side.

This is the second book I’ve written this year where I’ve had to really push myself and somehow find the will to keep writing. It isn’t burn out (which can often be the case for authors when they don’t feel like writing). It was just I had so much other stuff demanding my attention that I found it really difficult to focus on the most important thing–writing!

Still, I have now finished the first draft of Claimed by a Demon King. It came in at 113,000 words in first draft, and that’s a good 23,000 words longer than Kissed by a Dark Prince was when I finished the first draft for that paranormal romance book, which is the first book in the Eternal Mates series. I guarantee that by the time I have edited Claimed by a Demon King, it will probably be closer to 120,000 words. I think that King Thorne of the demons didn’t want to be outdone by Prince Loren of the elves. He wanted a bigger book! Well, he’s certainly getting it.

I’m not sure what I will be writing next. I need to take a look at all my writing plans and the releases I want in 2014 and 2015, and go from there.I won’t be writing anything new before 2014. The plan right now is to work on my website, on switching the Vampires Realm series over to my Felicity Heaton name, and editing Claimed by a Demon King.

My writing target for 2013 was 400,000 words. I surpassed it by writing 440,000 words in 2013. I imagine that next year my target will be around the same figure. I’ll have a couple of books to edit that were already written (Claimed by a Demon King and Guardians of Hades: Ares), but I do also have new books to write, including more in the Vampires Realm, Her Angel, and Eternal Mates series.

I think for now, the muse would like a bit of a siesta in which he can play cards against some of my heroes who are waiting in my head for their book.

Here’s a taste of things to come in Claimed by a Demon King. It could be considered a little spoiler-ish as you’ll know the hero and heroine of the second book.

Teaseday – Scorching hot vampire romance novel excerpt from Seduce (Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance Series Book 3)

Sera kissed under his jaw, his chin, the other side of his throat. Another moan slipped free when she sat sideways on his lap and ran her other hand firmly up his arm, tracing his muscles through his shirt while she continued to work at his throat, maddening him. She sucked and nibbled his right earlobe and he tensed, clawed at the seat arms and wanted to growl at her to make her kiss him. He needed to feel her mouth on his, cursed her for avoiding it as she kissed his cheek, his nose, and his chin. He tried to kiss her but she evaded him and clucked her tongue.

He was playing right into her hands.

A woman had done this to him before.

That instantly dampened his desire but it didn’t kill it. It rose from the ashes like a phoenix, reborn stronger than ever, given life by each brush of her hands over his chest and each sweep of her lips down his neck. She tugged at his black tie, slid the two sides free of each other, and then started on his shirt. Her fingers teased his chest as she popped each button and slowly parted it.

Antoine couldn’t take it.

He tensed right down to his soul, bracing himself as a desire to shove her away clawed at him. It was hard to deny that urge. He didn’t want to be weak again, was afraid that if he gave in to her that he was only going to end up broken all over again. His parents were right. Never involve yourself with those below your class. They had no breeding. They did as they pleased with no regard for others. Like animals. Sera was one of those beasts.

That cooled his desire for a heartbeat of time.

What extinguished it completely were her fingers pausing against his chest and the sense of astonishment that flowed into him through them.

He was old and powerful enough to feel her emotions and he knew what she was looking at.

“My God,” she whispered under her breath and touched one of the ridges of scar tissue that slashed across his chest. “What happened?”

SHADOW BOUND by Erin Kellison

Talia heard Adam’s intake of breath as she wrapped the veil around them, the day falling from sunny blue to a dreamy murk. They stood in layered fog, the veils of shadow sensuously lapping at their bodies. The trees, the meadow beyond, the hulk of Segue were all there, yet somehow appeared transient. Sounds stretched so that the birds’ twitters and crickets’ chirps became high, eerie notes warped by darkness. Shadow settled on her shoulders and slid deliciously against her skin in welcome.

Adam’s wonder turned to awe and building excitement.

Talia glanced at him to see how much of what he felt could be read on his face.

He looked down at her, about to say something, but instead he stopped and stared. That sensation was back, a trickle in the sense of his discovery, then a flood blotting it out. Desire.

“Sera.” Antoine pushed away from the doorframe and Sera shook her head to silence him.

She knew what he would say. “I trust you, Antoine. You won’t hurt me. I want to do this.”

His pupils dilated, darkening his eyes with the heat of passion that said he wanted to do this too, but not because he wanted proof that she trusted him or that he wouldn’t flip and hurt her. It was the thought of chaining her up that had him reaching out for the restraints, taking them from her, and leading her into his room.

He closed the door behind them and Sera exhaled slowly, trying to expel her rising nerves. She had never allowed anyone to restrain her before, not in her human life and certainly not in her vampire one. Just the thought of being chained, especially by industrial-strength restraints like the ones in Antoine’s hands, handcuffs made for an ancient vampire, had her heart pounding and instincts kicking in. They told her to flee, to end this before it began. It was too dangerous.

She didn’t care.

She had to make herself as vulnerable as she could be in order for Antoine to accept that she trusted him and that they could be together. He needed to know that even when she was defenceless, open to attack and at his mercy, he could keep control and not let things go too far. If she could show him that, he might believe that the bloodlust that silently lay in wait in his genes was something he could master and he didn’t need to fear it.

Sera stripped off the borrowed shirt and set it down on the pile. Her gaze fell on the bundle of silk ties beside them and she lifted a black one, the material soft and sensuous against her fingers. Her heart flipped in her throat and her blood heated. She bit her lip. Mercy, she couldn’t deny the fluttering desire in her belly that said she was already asking Antoine to cuff her, she might as well go all the way and ask him to blindfold her too.

When she turned to face him, the black silk tie dangling over her hand in front of her breasts, Antoine raised a dark eyebrow. He looked as though he was going to refuse the whole affair. Had she pushed too far?

He tossed the restraints onto the crumpled red sheets on his bed and crossed the room in a handful of swift strides. She tensed as he snatched the tie from her fingers and stared at it, and then at her. She couldn’t meet his gaze at first, was too busy watching the way his fingers shook against the tie. He was nervous. That made two of them.

“Turn around,” he husked, voice thick with passion, roughened by desire. Continue reading →
