Teaseday – Prophecy: Caelestis and Aurorea (Vampires Realm Romance Series Book 2) Plus FREE EBOOK

Today’s tease comes from the book Prophecy: Caelestis and Aurorea, which is the second book in my popular Vampires Realm romance series.

Read on for this Tuesday’s tease…

Prophecy: Caelestis and Aurorea [book 2] - paranormal vampire romance Book

The raven left the guard’s shoulder and Prophecy followed it as it swooped along the path, cawing loudly along the way. She held her head high while walking past the guards that lined the pale gravel path. Her senses told her that they were all as old as the ones that had been defending the gate and they were all strong. The Validus bloodline was old and there hadn’t been a new addition to their family in countless years.

Her eyes roamed the breadth of the palace. It was as beautiful as any stately home. Even in the rain-soaked darkness, she could make out that the plaster covering its façade had been painted rich ochre. There were so many windows that she lost count and the perfectly manicured garden with tall topiary bushes made it look like a royal palace. She supposed that the Validus were as close to royalty as her species got. The annals always said that it was the reason they had the purest purple eyes when in their vampire form. Royal purple.

It wasn’t just that and their name that made them like royalty. At over three millennia, Hyperion was the oldest vampire in existence. If Ineru were his blood and birth sister like Valentine had told her, then she too must have been over three thousand years old. She wondered what it would be like to live that long. With age came strength in her species. How strong was Hyperion?

The twin tall wooden doors in front of her opened and she stepped through them. She followed the raven still, letting it lead the way to Hyperion.

She couldn’t imagine what it must be like to see the world change like he would have. When he had been turned, there was no Heaven and Hell, no bible, and the ancient civilisations of Greece and Egypt still flourished.

Entering a room, she came out of her thoughts when she felt the presence of great power and blinked when she saw him sitting at the opposite end of the room. He was reclining at a haphazard angle in a huge lushly furnished chair. One of his legs dangled over an arm of it while one hand hung limp, almost grazing the floor with the glass he held.

He didn’t bother sitting up when she approached, he only moved his gaze to rest on her and she faltered under the intensity of it.

Sensual Sunday – Hot excerpt from Seduce (Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance Series Book 3) plus FREE EBOOK

Sensual Sunday is brought to you today by Seduce, which is the third book in my popular Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series. Sensual Sunday’s always feature a hot excerpt from one of my paranormal romance books. Read on for this Sunday’s sensual snippet… it’s a bit of a long one today, but I’m sure you’ll think it’s worth it!

Seduce - paranormal vampire romance Book

The scars continued on his arms, thick and pronounced, some of them so deep that they had pulled the muscle into a strange distorted shape. Sera went to touch one. Antoine growled and pulled away, scooped his shirt off the floor and put it back on, covering his body.

Shielding himself from her inquisitive eyes.

“Antoine,” she whispered, as softly as she could, trying to show him that she hadn’t intended to question him about the scars again and that he didn’t need to hide them from her.

He turned his back on her and hung his head.

“Not quite what you thought I would look like?” he bit out on a dark snarl. “I bet you imagined me perfect, skin as flawless as your own, beautiful… not hideous.”

That had her feet moving. She came up behind him and slowly placed her hands on his shoulders so she didn’t startle him. She swept her palms over them, feeling their strength, and then back again, to his neck. There, she slipped her hands into his collar and started to lower his silver-grey shirt again, revealing inch after inch of scars on his back. He tensed.

Sera tiptoed and kissed each scar, from the ones that were barely a scratch to the ones that had damaged muscle irreparably. He didn’t pull away. He remained motionless, rigid, his breathing shallow and controlled. When her hands reached his, she tugged the cuffs of his shirt over them and then removed it completely. She tossed it away from them, onto one of the red velvet sofas that were part of the stage set, so he couldn’t reach for it and hide from her again.

He began to relax as she continued to kiss and lick his skin, worshipping him, hoping to make him see that she thought he was beautiful, not hideous. While she might have imagined flawless perfection as he had said, this revelation wasn’t one that lessened the ferocity of her attraction to him. Each scar was a story that she wanted to know, a memory that she wanted to hear so she could take away the pain he associated with it and could learn to love himself again.

She had been wrong about him.

Snippet Saturday – Smooth Operator – Excerpt from Heart of Darkness (Vampire Romance Novel)

It’s time for Snippet Saturday! Each week has a theme or is author’s choice. This week the theme is Smooth Operator – Hero with moves.

This week my snippet comes from one of my stand alone vampire romance novels, Heart of Darkness. It’s a bit of a big one today but that’s because I wanted to capture enough of the story to set the scene too, and Aleksandr deserves a nice long excerpt to show just how determined he is to make Elise see beyond his rank of prince and the rumours about him, to the vampire he is beneath.

Heart of Darkness - paranormal vampire romance Book

Elise cursed the name of Aleksandr Nemov for the hundredth time that night, and it was barely two hours after sundown. It transpired that he had only danced with her at the ball. Now everywhere she went the ladies of the house whispered and glared at her. Even the guards were merciless in their teasing. She had gone to see Andrej to find some comfort but he had been so caustic that she had immediately left.

She hurried across the landscaped garden to the grey two storey square building at the back of the estate that acted as the garrison. It was past time to report in for duty. Hopefully, Commander Piotr would forgive her this small fault in exchange for the fact that she had followed his orders and ruined her life by dancing with Aleksandr Nemov.

Elise strode through the building, her focus so fixed on thinking of a way to gain a solo mission so she could patrol the city in glorious solitude and keeping her head down to avoid the snide taunts of her comrades that she didn’t notice the danger until it was too late.

The moment she saw Aleksandr, she turned and tried to escape her commander’s office.

“Elise,” Commander Piotr said and she froze, cursing Aleksandr again.

“Reporting for duty, Sir.” Elise saluted her commander and then Ladislav where he sat perched on the end of her commander’s oak desk dressed in a long black winter coat and pinstripe suit. She ignored Aleksandr.

“You are to show me the city tonight.”

Her gaze shot to Aleksandr. He smiled at her, all charm and sweetness.

Author Spotlight – Linda Acaster – The British Have Always Embraced The Paranormal

I have a new guest author this week – the wonderful Linda Acaster! She’s here to talk about the first book in her series and share an excerpt! I’ll hand things over to her now…

The British have always embraced the paranormal

The creepy ‘Oh, Whistle, And I’ll Come To You, My Lad’ was delivered unto the world in 1904 by MR James, and Charles Dickens is renowned for his ‘The Signal-Man’ (1866) which sprang from a true event five years earlier. Every tourist town in the country offers a book detailing supernatural happenings in the locality, and who wouldn’t travel toScotlandwithout attempting to view ‘Nessie’, The Loch Ness Monster?

In my Torc of Moonlight trilogy I focus on paranormal protectors of a different kind, the mere-maids, the goddesses of the water which came to literary prominence in the Arthurian legends: the celebrated Lady of the Lake whose arm broke the surface of the pool to reach for the tossed sword Excalibur and accept it as a devotional gift to powers beyond mortal knowledge.

Despite being wrapped in mediaeval armour and chivalrous exploits, the act embodied in the story dates back well before recorded time. British museums are stuffed with recovered artefacts, many military due to their high cost of production, which had been ceremonially deposited in water courses. Each spring, well and often stream, would have a protective female deity, and often a female priestess who interceded between the realms of mortals and enchantment.

And these are no fancy tales from days of yore. When Regency ladies and their beaus visited Bath or Harrogate to take the waters they would pass over a silver coin and in return take a cup from an old woman who resided by the spring. Derbyshire is renowned for its well-dressing festivals which, despite their Christian overtones, harks to a pagan past.Yorkshire, the county of my birth and the setting of my trilogy, has more springs named Lady Well than anywhere in the country, and many of them hold silver coins left by devotees. Don’t you cast coins into a ‘wishing well’ to invoke good luck? Who are you expecting to answer?

In Torc of Moonlight Nick becomes obsessed with Alice, a history student determined to find the shrine to a forgotten Celtic water deity. Together they decipher the cluesAlice unearths, but as Nick luxuriates in their nights of sensual pleasure he’s in denial of other, darker visions that impinge on his days. To tellAlice will make her flee him. To stay silent could kill her.

Book 1: Torc of Moonlight, multi 5* ebk/pbk is available now; Book 2: The Bull At The Gate coming late fall.

Torc of Moonlight
Linda Ancaster

‘Stay away from me. Don’t you understand? People close to me die.’

Nick believes Alice is overreacting. She’s been unlucky in her life, that’s all. Coincidences – they happen all the time.

It had been coincidence that they’d locked gazes during the lecture, a trick of the light that had lifted her auburn hair. But is it coincidence that someone, something, is distancing him from his friends as the need to possess Alice builds?

Drawn into her obsession with finding a shrine to a Celtic water goddess, and drowning in sensual pleasure, Nick is in denial… until he sees a jewelled sword fade in his hand and knows that he, or the thing that shadows him, has held it, and bloodied it, long ago.

To tell Alice will make her flee. To stay silent could kill her.

Excerpt

For a moment he thought he lay in his own bed in his own room, but the light was too dim, and there was a tinkling that sounded like water falling on rock. The scents of forest flowers assailed him from the pillow and he spread his limbs, luxuriating in the warmth that wasAlice’s bed. The only imperfection was thatAlicewas not sharing it with him.

Raising himself on one elbow, Nick pushed back the duvet. Wrapped in a white kimono, she was sitting at her workstation, the light from the laptop screen sheening her a ghostly silver-grey.

His gaze caressed the rippling fall of her auburn hair, the gentle curve of her shoulders, a pale leg extending into the shadow beneath the table. He wanted to capture her in that pose as a photograph, to look at her hour after hour and not sense the passing of time. Yet he wanted her with him, now, clasped in his arms, the heat of his passion burning a path through her soul.

Teaseday – Prophecy: Child of Light (Vampires Realm Romance Series Book 1) Plus FREE EBOOK

Today’s tease comes from the book Prophecy: Child of Light, which is the first book in my popular Vampires Realm romance series.

Read on for this Tuesday’s tease… it’s a bit of a long one this week! I hope you enjoy it. It’s one of my favourite scenes in the book.

Prophecy: Child of Light [book 1] - paranormal vampire romance Book

It had been a nice ending to the night, but in a way, he was sad that it was over so soon. He had barely managed to dance with her at the ball. Everything had moved so swiftly once he’d caught hold of her and in the blink of an eye it was over.

He looked up at the flickering neon sign above the hotel entrance and then down at her. He sighed. She looked beautiful standing there bathed in the dim light from the hotel. Her lips were smiling at him. Her eyes were still hidden behind her mask, giving her a mysterious look even though he knew who she was beneath it.

“There is someone we must visit tomorrow,” he said, his eyes still fixed on her apparel. “Pack your things and wait for me in your room. I will come for you shortly after sunset.”

He raised his eyes to meet hers. He could see by the way they were narrowed that she was frowning at him. It seemed so wrong to give her such a beautiful dress and only let her wear it for one dance, especially when most of that dance had been passed in the arms of other men. The memory of watching them touching her still made his blood boil. He hadn’t been able to stop himself from reacting. Seeing their hands on her had made him more than a little jealous.

He’d been ready to tear their throats open.

He’d wanted to massacre them all just for looking at her.

Sensual Sunday – Hot excerpt from Crave (Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance Series Book 2) plus FREE EBOOK

Sensual Sunday is brought to you today by Crave, which is the second book in my popular Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series. Sensual Sunday’s always feature a hot excerpt from one of my paranormal romance books. Read on for this Sunday’s sensual snippet… it’s a scorching hot one this week… and opens in a private booth in a nightclub with one very hungry werewolf and one very wicked vampire…

Crave - paranormal vampire romance Book

Callum backed her up until her calves hit the curved leather seat of the booth and she fell onto her bottom. He towered over her, immense and beautiful, dark and deadly, just the sight of him exciting her. Kristina tried to stand again but he pressed his right hand to her shoulder and forced her back onto the seat.

He tugged at the knot of his dark purple tie and loosened it before slipping the two sides free of each other. His fingers started on the buttons of his black shirt next and a tiny seed of fear settled in the pit of her stomach, took root, and started to grow.

“We should take this somewhere a little more private,” she said automatically and he paused at his work, his fingers halfway down his chest and the top part of his shirt open to reveal the groove between his pectorals.
