Snow glanced up into her eyes and lingered, the red around the edges of his irises fading and the darkness lifting. Sorrow replaced it, but mixed in with that sombre emotion were others. Warmer ones that gained ground the longer he looked up at her, obliterating the pain until it was gone and only they remained, filling his beautiful eyes with a look that verged on tender.

Aurora breathed slowly, fighting to steady herself, battling to resist the urges that look in Snow’s eyes awakened in her. Lilah kissed along his jaw, shifting her body down his at the same time, and he groaned his agreement when the apex of her thighs brushed his groin, stirring him back into hardness. He tugged at his restraints again and focused on the fact she had him tied up and at her mercy, and what she was doing to him. She licked the left side of his neck and lightly bit him.

Javier bucked on instinct, a flash of hunger burning up his blood and a deep groan escaping his lips. Lilah giggled and bit again, harder this time, and he snarled. She stilled, her rapid pulse pounding in his mind, the feel of her heart hammering against his chest pushing at his control.

“Gentler.” Javier forced the word out from between clenched teeth, his fangs cutting into his gums.

He feared she would stop completely.

Lilah moved and chased that fear and all reason from his mind by nibbling along his collarbone. She pinned his shoulders to the bed and licked his throat again, tracing up the jugular, and nipped his earlobe. Javier fought to retain control. She lowered her mouth again and bit the curve of his throat.

His blood turned to liquid fire that ignited every inch of him, his balls tightened and his cock quivered a second before the world exploded in bright sparks that burned wherever she touched him, fiercest where her teeth pressed into his flesh.

She let the black covers fall away from her and met him at the edge of the bed. There was something she had wanted to do to him ever since he had revealed the full design of his tattoo to her. Read on for this Tuesday’s tease… It’s a super long one today but I just couldn’t help including all of this scene as it’s one of my favourites in the novel. A little background info – Nika has been bitten by a werewolf and was saved by Winter, a vampire of the Validus bloodline who secretly longed to turn her when she was mortal, claiming her as his mate. Now, they’re on the run from the werewolf, Willem, trying to get Nika to safety… and have sneaked into the Validus mansion for a brief pit-stop…

She took his breath away. Her honey blonde hair hung in wet ringlets that stroked her cheeks and caressed her bare shoulders. A black towel hid her soft pale body, a dazzling contrast. His gaze skimmed over her, taking in the shape of her and stopping when he reached her legs. The one she had broken still bore a red mark where the bone was healing. It marred her otherwise perfect skin, a reminder of her ordeal.

Taking the shirt with him, he walked across the room to her. She smiled when he placed the oversized black shirt around her shoulders and covered her. His gaze fell to her throat and he noticed that she had removed her cross. He glanced down to see it in her hand, spinning as it dangled from the chain.

“I’m scared,” she said, her eyes reflecting all that fear, enormous and soulful, tempting him into holding her and whispering sweet words of reassurance.

He smiled, hoping it would be enough to calm her, and drew the shirt closed across her chest. “There is nothing to fear. We shall leave this place soon.”

“And go where?”

Winter wished he knew. The thought of taking her to the compound made a strange uneasiness settle in his chest. He pressed his hand against it and rubbed the spot over his heart, hoping to soothe the dull ache. There had to be a way of discovering where the werewolves hid their bastion.

“We cannot remain here.” He moved back across the room to the bed, sensing her following him, her footsteps almost silent on the extensive black and red Chinese rug that covered most of the floor, leaving only a thin border of dark wooden floorboards around the edges.

“Why not?” she said and sat down on the end of his double bed.

The black towel she wore melted into the black sheets. She removed the shirt from her shoulders and placed it down beside her. When she leaned back, her slender pale hands were a stark contrast to the bedclothes. His gaze traversed the length of her arms, following the line of them up to her shoulders. His stomach turned and growled when his gaze reached the smooth, sublime column of her throat. Her hair had fallen away, revealing the slope of it, covered with dewdrops of moisture that clung in the most enticing way to her skin. An urge to chase them with his tongue filled him, commanding him to go to her and slowly lick her throat until he had caught every drop. It led onto a desire to lean into her then, to ease his teeth into her neck and draw on her warm blood, to take her completely and in ways that he had only seen in fantasies of her.

“Why can’t we stay here?”

This week my snippet comes from my vampire romance novel, Masquerade, which is book 10 in the Vampires Realm romance series. It’s finally a shorter excerpt this week, but it’s still quite long… I love the UST between Vivek and Sophis in this book, the product of misunderstandings and mistakes, and barely leashed desire that runs as an undercurrent through them both and both of them deny its existence… ah, their love is undeniable though.

 

Masquerade - paranormal vampire romance Book

The fight in the park with the hunter tonight came flooding back and the moment demanding the most airtime in her thoughts reared up again. She couldn’t shake the startling way she had felt as the haze from feeding had lifted and she had found herself face-to-face with Vivek. His desire had been unmistakable.

As had hers.

At first, she had tried to put it down to the effects of feeding but that excuse had died a little more with each silent moment that had passed between them. The longer he had looked at her with eyes full of fire, the harsh rise and fall of his chest emphasising the breadth of his powerful muscular body, the more intense her awareness of him had become. The scent of their desire mingling and filling her senses had urged her to go to him and satisfy the dark craving to finish what they had started earlier this evening.

Not the fight.

Where the fight had been going.

On some instinctive and feminine level inside her, she had been aware that things had changed during the flow of their battle and that they remained changed now. Vivek had started responding differently to her and, in turn, she had reacted differently to him.

Prophecy looked up and frowned at the mansion in front of her. It wasn’t hers. Her eyes dropped to her hand and she saw the red magic lazily encircling her fingers. They moved to her chest and she touched the faintly glowing star there.

Had her heart brought her here?

Deep inside, she was scared. Her heart feared and the magic had responded to it by bringing her here to Valentine.

Walking along the perimeter wall, she eventually came to the gatehouse. She remembered the last time she’d been here and wondered if the guards would remember her.

They blocked her path as she approached and when their eyes filled with fear, she took it as a yes.

They remembered her. Seeing your friends killed was probably a hard thing to forget.

Andreu covered her mouth with his, kissing her softly, focusing on giving his strength to her and making her better because he didn’t want her to die. She had to live.

Live, damn it.

His eyes shot wide open when a spark leapt between their lips and raced deep into his blood, heating it. Her mouth moved against his, stronger now, and he tasted that addictive hint of vanilla and honey. He ignored his own pain and pulled her closer to him. Her hands grasped his shoulders, her lips growing bolder and taking control of the kiss.

Andreu kept his focus on giving everything to her, all of the passion she stirred in him and his need for her. She moaned into his mouth, the sweetest sound he had ever heard, and pushed her fingers through his hair. He slipped then, losing himself in the heat of their kiss and his desire for her. He kissed along her jaw and she tilted her head back, baring her throat to him. He trailed his lips over her vein, feeling the fluttering of her pulse against them, and kissed her there. Dios, he wanted to drown in this woman.

He was so hungry for her.

His fangs emerged.

The deep pulse of arousal in his veins turned to lust, but not for her body. He needed her blood.

“Stop, please, Andreu,” she whispered and she didn’t sound as though she really wanted him to refrain from kissing her throat. The way she tugged at his hair and arched her body against his said she wanted quite the opposite from him. “Stop!”

Andreu forced his mouth to leave her throat and looked down at her.

Varya lay in his arms, breasts heaving against her black long-sleeved top, her eyes shining bright shades of brown and blue, the flecks of gold in them sparkling.

“I’m fine now, you can let me go… let me go now,” she said and he still wasn’t convinced.

It’s time for Snippet Saturday! Each week has a theme or is author’s choice. This week the theme is Stop Dragging My Heart Around – Putting your foot down.

This week my snippet comes from one of my stand alone vampire romance novels, Love Immortal. It’s long again this week. I have no concept of what a snippet is! When it comes to Julian, I just have to let this gorgeous immortal warrior have his way… and his way is a long excerpt from his book that shows just what a charming, beautiful, man he is.

Julian flinched as the double doors slammed, one of them bouncing back open. It hadn’t gone as well as he’d hoped. He closed his eyes and cursed himself. He’d never been good with these kinds of words, with speaking of his past. Perhaps he should have given more thought to how he was going to tell her. He should have practiced. Now he’d only made things worse.

Lauren was convinced that she was Illia. Her confession about her feelings had left him in no doubt that he hadn’t imagined them, but it still didn’t stop a part of him from being convinced that she didn’t love him, couldn’t love him. None but Illia had. He’d wanted to tell her that. It would have made her realise that she was wrong about herself. She wasn’t Illia. None of them had been.

They were all different. The soul was the same but the heart changed.

His feelings for her weren’t because of Illia. When he felt he loved her, it wasn’t his love for Illia renewed but a new love completely.

Julian clenched his fists and cursed himself again. Now he’d hurt her. His pathetic confession had gone horribly wrong and he’d been silent when he should have explained to her that his love was for her, Lauren, not Illia. He needed to convince her of that.

He walked through the building, his senses fixed on Lauren’s scent even though he knew where he would find her. Her bedroom.

He had to tell her everything, even if it meant setting himself up for a fall that would be more painful than the one he’d taken for Illia.

Seeing her repeatedly reborn and then die had hurt him deeply, as deeply as not being loved. His existence had been lonely even when he wasn’t alone. Now Lauren was offering her heart to him, rekindling his lost emotions and his desire to do his duty and protect her so she would survive the fight against Lycaon. She deserved something in return.

As fragile as his heart was, he would offer it to her.
