Interview with a werewolf – Nika

I’ve already interviewed the other half of this forbidden relationship, Winter, so now it’s time to meet and chat to Nika. Nika is the heroine of my werewolf/vampire romance novel Winter’s Kiss and she’s a newly turned werewolf, still learning the ropes.

(The door opens and Nika enters, her blonde hair tied into a neat high ponytail and her slender body pulled into a deep gold corseted dress. I smile when she leads Winter into the room, her hand tightly clasping his, and they walk over to me. She sits Winter back down on the black velvet armchair and settles herself on his lap. His arms go around her waist and he doesn’t seem to care that he’s back here again. He seems content with holding Nika)

NIKA: I hope you don’t mind that I brought company?

FH: (shakes head) Not at all. I had expected you would when Winter went off to find you. You’re not the first person to have their partner here during their interview. Prophecy came bursting in on Valentine’s interview. (Nika giggles at that) So, what have you been up to since we last saw you?

NIKA: I attended the Creator Day masquerade with Dmitri and a section of our guards. It was fascinating. (Winter smiles at that word and the sparkle in Nika’s green eyes, and gives me a look that has ‘I told you so’ written all over it) It was a little frightening to be surrounded by so many vampires though.

WINTER: I would not have allowed any of them to harm you, Nika.

NIKA: (she turns to him and smiles affectionately) I know, but I didn’t want you placing yourself at risk for me. The Law Keepers would have realised that something is happening between us if you had defended me.

WINTER: Not necessarily. Lord Hyperion said that the Validus were to protect all of the werewolves from the other bloodlines should there be a dispute. It would have covered my actions… besides… I do not care if it placed me at risk. I would protect you regardless of that danger. You are too dear to me.

FH: Get a room. I am trying to conduct an interview here, Winter. If you keep going with the sweet soulful words then she’s going to be kissing you and I’m never going to get any answers to my questions. Now, Nika, it must have been exciting for you though?

NIKA: Absolutely. It was strange coming back to Saint Petersburg. I haven’t been back since I became a werewolf. I’ve spent most of my time at the bastion. The only other place I’ve been is the Validus mansion when I’m sent there as an envoy.

FH: (smiles) We all know that’s just secret code for ‘sent to see Winter and stop him from driving Hyperion insane’.

(Nika and I giggle. Winter frowns)

WINTER: You make me sound as though I am some lovesick youngling.

FH: I was under that impression. (his eyes switch to purple, the colour of his bloodline and something that only happens when he’s changed into his true face) I’m just kidding. You don’t have to bite me. (Nika touches his cheek and his gaze shifts to her, his eyes returning to blue) Thank you, Nika. I think you just saved my neck.

NIKA: He just feels uncomfortable when people can see how deep his love is for me. I like it though. He’s so open and honest with his feelings and it makes me feel so loved.

FH: Things weren’t always that way though, were they? It was hard for you both at first.

NIKA: Very difficult. I didn’t understand why at first but now that I’ve spent time around the werewolves and the vampires, I can see why Winter was so cautious and believed that we shouldn’t act on our feelings. It’s so easy to forget the danger when I’m around the werewolves, and even when I’m at the Validus mansion at times. When I saw the Law Keepers at the ball, and sensed their strength… and the other vampires there who looked upon me and my kind with disdain… well, that made it painfully clear what vampires truly think of werewolves and any vampire who dares to involve themselves with one.

WINTER: Nika, my love… do not think all vampires are the same. Times are changing. It will be a slow process but we have all the time in the world. If we are patient, there will come a day when we can be together all the time.

NIKA: (curls up on his lap and leans into him) I want that so much.

WINTER: (presses a kiss to her temple) I know. I want it too.

FH: Well, I clearly don’t need to ask how your relationship with Winter is doing. So, how about I ask some fun questions to lighten the mood? Firstly, what’s your favourite colour?

NIKA: Yellow. It’s so bright and warm. Winter teases me and says I look as deadly as the sun when I wear yellow, but the look in his eyes says that he means it in a good way.

WINTER: I say it because you look too beautiful in it. It kills me to have to suffer you looking so beautiful when I cannot touch you.

(Nika kisses him)

FH: I am still trying to interview you. I can always get Hyperion in to pull you two apart if you don’t start behaving. The interview will be over soon. What’s your favourite smell?

NIKA: Winter. He smells so good.

FH: You two like the smell of each other. I really hope it’s a vampire werewolf thing… or a comfort thing. I find it a little disturbing. Your favourite possession?

NIKA: My cross necklace, which Winter keeps safe for me.

FH: Favourite thing to do?

NIKA: Ride with Winter. Sometimes we ride together when I visit the Validus mansion. Lord Hyperion lends Winter his horse and I ride Winter’s. I think it’s very kind of Lord Hyperion.

FH: I think he’s meddling again just like he loves to. And finally, what’s your favourite time of year?

NIKA: Oh, I don’t know. They’re all so different. I’m still getting used to my senses and all the different smells and sounds are exciting. All of them.

FH: Winter said the same thing too, but his reasoning was that he loves to see you so fascinated by the different seasons.

NIKA: He did? You’re so sweet. I love you. (she kisses him again)

FH: I think I’ll leave it there. Winter, you’re free to take Nika away now. Thanks for letting me interview you Nika!

(She doesn’t respond. Winter rises from the seat with her cradled in his arms, her mouth still fixed to his in a passionate kiss, and carries her away)

FH: That’s the last time I’m allowing partners to invade during an interview.

They make a cute couple don’t they? Ah, there’s nothing quite like forbidden love.

If you want to know more about these two and how they came to be together, then you can read their vampire/werewolf romance book, Winter’s Kiss. Here’s a little more about it.

F E Heaton
Their lord drinks blood and they are dead men walking. The tales of the mansion don’t stop Nika from falling for one of the guards, but when wolves attack her and he rides to her rescue, she discovers that her knight is anything but saintly. He is a vampire and she is becoming a werewolf, and love between their species is forbidden—the penalty death.

Winter’s world is shaken beyond salvation and his allegiance to his bloodline tested as he watches the woman he’s fallen for turn into a werewolf. His heart demands vengeance and that he protects her, both from the werewolf now hunting for her and from himself, but she tempts him more than he can bear and it isn’t long into their journey before he’s torn between upholding the law and succumbing to desire.

Will Nika be able to convince Winter to leave his world and stay with her or will she spend eternity dreaming of Winter’s kiss?

Interview with a vampire – Hyperion

Really, I think the title of this post should be ‘interview with a god’ because Hyperion is more than just a vampire. He’s probably one of the most intriguing and mysterious and popular vampires in my Vampires Realm series. I get a lot of people asking about him and when he’s going to get his own story. It’s so tempting to just keep having him appear in other heroes and heroines novels in the series because I don’t want his quirky personality to change due to him finally having his love by his side. I’m not sure his personality would change, but he might be a little distracted by her and not amuse himself with everyone else’s love lives as much. lol.

As I’ve said above, Hyperion doesn’t have his own love story yet. I did write a short piece about his origins and you can read it on my Vampires Realm website: http://www.vampiresrealm.com/freestory_eternitythebeginning.php

Now, I’ve been waiting to interview this man for a long time, so on with the show…

(It feels as though I’ve been waiting forever for this moment, and that I’m going to have to wait a little longer. Minutes tick by. I tap my pen against the clipboard with my notes on it. Maybe he’s going be a no-show. The door creaks open and the man himself enters, casually dressed in a loose black shirt that has the top few buttons undone, revealing bronzed skin and the valley between his chest muscles. He saunters across the room to the black velvet armchair and drapes himself in it, crosses his black-clad legs and smiles at me, revealing slightly extended canines. His purple eyes are beautiful in the firelight, mesmerising, but I know better than to fall into their trap)

HYPERION: When will you write my story, little lady? (the mixture of accents in his voice make his birth nationality hard to place but I know he was born over three thousand years ago in Egypt)

FH: Soon, I think. A few people want to read it. Every appearance you make in the series intrigues them a little more. I think you have a fan club. I’m tempted to change that to ‘fang club’ as I think these readers are just longing to imagine they’re your heroine.

HYPERION: (smiles slowly) It can be arranged. I am always looking for fresh entertainment. The days can feel so long when I have so much on my mind and cannot sleep. I wouldn’t say no to a little midday snack.

FH: Hmm, but I have the impression that’s all they would be to you. You flirt so well with everyone but would you ever go further than a quick bite?

HYPERION: (his eyes darken and he looks away to the fireplace on his right, causing his irises to reflect silver in the light) Perhaps once upon a time I would have. I am afraid I would have to disappoint any ladies looking for more than just the pleasure of my bite now. My heart belongs to another.

FH: Tell me something I don’t know. Things have certainly been busy for you recently though, so that must have occupied you to some degree?

HYPERION: (he turns back to me and smiles again) Most entertaining. It does amuse me when these vampire hunters believe they are any kind of match for my kind. I am still disputing certain outcomes of the event at the Venia mansion with Winter though. I am sure he is lying. There isn’t the slightest possibility that he beat me.

FH: You’re a sore loser. Does that come with age?

HYPERION: (laughs) No… my cavalier attitude and the right to pry into others’ relationships came with age. I have to amuse myself somehow. If you lived for three thousand years, you would likely end up the same. I do not think any would dare dispute my right either.

FH: They’re all scared of you. You could probably kill most of the vampires in the seven bloodlines with just a flick of your finger. There aren’t any who can stand against your strength.

HYPERION: Now, there you are wrong. There is my beloved sister.

FH: That is true. Ineru is probably the one vampire in the world who could kill you with only a few words.

HYPERION: Not the only vampire. There is another. Women… they are man’s only weakness.

FH: Very true. We can destroy men without flinching. Your sex isn’t as strong as you think.

HYPERION: Your species isn’t as strong as it thinks.

FH: Touché. I’ll give you that one. So, do you have any other adventures planned?

HYPERION: I do indeed, and I think I shall need you to write them down for me. It is high time that my story was told. I grow tired of waiting… you are the only human in the world who can keep me waiting… perhaps the only person too. No vampire would dare. Not even Ineru.

FH: I’ll write it. Don’t worry. I do need to write your sister’s story and also Lilith’s sister’s story too, and I think those should come first.

HYPERION: You place two stories before mine. I grant you leave to write my sister’s story first, but to write Lilith’s sister’s story before mine… sheer madness, my little human. Why does she get precedence over me?

FH: Because her story came first. So shush, behave yourself. I know that your story sort of started shortly after Winter’s story, but it hasn’t ended yet and it’s easier to write a story when it has ended and I have both hero and heroine present to recount it for me. Win your heroine and then we’ll talk about writing your story, okay?

HYPERION: (frowns) Fine, if you insist it be that way, then I will do all in my power to make it happen. It will certainly be an adventure worth writing down though. I can promise you that.

FH: I’m sure readers are glad to hear it. They probably expect nothing less from you and I think every time you appear in a book, they’re secretly hoping you’ve found someone to love and they’ll get to read about it.

HYPERION: It isn’t a case of finding someone to love. I have already found her, but I thought she was lost to me. It is more a case of finding where my love has gone.

FH: Either way, people want to read about it. I’m sure your ‘fang club’ will be desperate to read it when I’ve written it.

HYPERION: Then perhaps we should move things along and I can see about making my story happen.

FH: All of you vampires are so impatient. I have a few silly questions that I like to ask the people I’m interviewing. Firstly, what’s your favourite colour?

HYPERION: Purple. It wasn’t a colour I was familiar with when human. The first time I saw it in Ineru’s eyes, it became my favourite colour. She has beautifully clear purple eyes.

FH: Sometimes you sound a little too in love with your sister. (he scowls at me) And moving swiftly on… your favourite smell?

HYPERION: The desert at night when the sand is cooling and the wind carries the faint scent of water and greenery. It has stayed with me for three millennia.

FH: Your favourite possession?

HYPERION: My ravens.

FH: Favourite thing to do?

HYPERION: Stargaze with my sister. We often did it back in Egypt. There you could see so many stars. I think we used to do it because it made us both feel that not everything had changed. The world was still the same and the stars were still the same. It made it easier to cope with what happened to me, and what I had done to Ineru.

FH: And finally, what’s your favourite time of year?

HYPERION: Winter. The nights are longer in Russia then and very clear. Ineru finds it easier to get away from her place of exile too because the guards are less inclined to leave their houses and check on her.

FH: You really do care a lot about your sister. I can understand it though. She’s been with you for three thousand years and was your only companion until you found your bloodline. Do you still feel bad about turning her?

HYPERION: (shakes his head) No. It is what she wanted and I don’t think I could have coped with watching her wither and die. I don’t think I would have made it past my first decade as a vampire without her at my side.

FH: That’s very sweet. You’re a good brother to her. Now, I’ll let you get on with that business of finding the woman you love. Good luck!

HYPERION: (nods) Thank you. I shall bring back a story worthy of your skill with words.

FH: Get on with you. Compliments get you nowhere.

(Hyperion smiles, rises from the seat, and bows in a way that has me staring down his half-open shirt. Whoever has captured this man’s heart is one lucky lady!)

Ah, I think I’m more in love with him than ever. What about you?

Interview with an ex-alpha werewolf – Nicolae

You’ve already met his heroine, Tatyana, in a previous interview so now it’s time to introduce you to Nicolae, an ex-alpha werewolf from my Vampires Realm series…

Nicolae is the hero of my vampire / werewolf romance book, Hunter’s Moon, in which he fell in love with Tatyana, a vampire of the Nocens bloodline. In my Vampires Realm series, that’s a series no-no and more often than not is a death sentence!

I caught up with him in my rather lovely interview room… picture dark red walls, wooden floor, crackling log fire with an ornate marble surround, and two very comfy black velvet armchairs and that’s my interview room. The best place to lure my paranormal people into.

If you haven’t met him already, here’s the lowdown on Nicolae. Nicolae is a dark, sexy, and rugged ex-alpha werewolf with a past that could make any woman want to kiss the guy. He’s strong, a loner since the events that led to him fleeing Europe, and can be charming when he needs to be. He’s a born leader and extremely protective, and very territorial. He won’t let anything happen to anyone or anything in his territory, even if that person is a vampire.

FH: I have Nicolae here with me today to talk about his book, Hunter’s Moon. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?

Nicolae: Ah, what like? I mean, is it alright to talk about that stuff?

FH: *nods* You can tell us anything. It’s all cool.

Nicolae: Alright then. I’m Romanian, although I have lived in Canada for the past century, and I’m a werewolf. Hell, it still sounds crazy when I say that aloud, even though I’ve been a werewolf for two centuries now. I was turned in Romania and lived with my pack there. It was peaceful until the vampires came for us. We didn’t stand a chance. My sire, the alpha of the pack, and I, and the other warriors amongst us tried to fend them off. They rounded us up and took us all to the compound. It was hell. I don’t want to think about it even now. We had done nothing to deserve such brutal treatment and abuse. Our pack had lived in peace, keeping to ourselves, never treading into vampire territory. When I finally managed to put an escape plan into action, I only made things worse. I lost my entire pack that night… and fled here, to a place where I was free of the vampires.

FH: Here being the remotest place on Earth. It must have been hard for you to deal with everything that had happened, and I’m sure many women’s hearts have gone out to you already. Can you tell us about what happened in your story, Hunter’s Moon?

Nicolae: It was around a century after I had escaped Romania and the nightmare of losing my pack, and I was finally learning to deal with it all in my own way. A night time hunt with the local timber wolf pack turned that all on its head. The peace I had found was shattered by a group of hunters and a woman. Tatyana. A vampire. It was difficult for me to accept her presence in my territory after everything I had suffered at the hands of the vampires, but the threat of the human hunters drove me to take her back to my cabin and help her heal. I had needed to know what she did so I could protect the local werewolf pack and the timber wolves. I thought she had brought them with her… I couldn’t have been more wrong.

FH: In Hunter’s Moon, you meet Tatyana. How did you meet and how did you feel about her initially?

Nicolae: Looking back now, I can’t believe that I ever wanted to leave her in that clearing to die from her wounds or the sunlight. She’s everything to me. The reason for my existence. It was difficult to get past everything that had happened to me, all the pain in my past, and accept her in my life and my territory. I was never sure whether I was coming or going at first. She tied me in knots and challenged everything that I believed about the vampires, and I’m glad that she did. We’ve both had hatred bred into us, and it was time for us both to open our eyes and look at each other for ourselves, not have our judgement coloured by what we’ve been told to believe and what had happened to us in our past.

FH: You have a lot of history with the vampires of Europe and it’s generally frowned upon for a werewolf to enter into a relationship with a vampire. Was it difficult to get past the terrible thing that the vampires did to you and your pack, and fall in love with Tatyana?

Nicolae: Of course it was, but Tatyana’s bloodline weren’t responsible for what happened to me. The European vampires are often at war with each other, squabbling over territory and other petty things. Her bloodline, the Nocens, probably hate the Tenebrae bloodline as much as I do. I know that it was difficult for Tatyana too, and I think that helped me cope with my feelings and face them. Werewolves don’t have laws against relationships with another species, but vampires do. Tatyana is risking a lot by being with me. When we eventually return to Europe, we’ll have to be careful about it. If the Law Keepers discover that Tatyana is with a werewolf, they’ll hunt her down and kill her. Not that I would let them get close enough to try, but it’s always there at the back of my mind.

FH: How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?

Nicolae: Peaceful. It might sound crazy, and sometimes I feel as though I’m dreaming, but everything has settled down again since the end of our story. Tatyana is slowly building a relationship with the local werewolves, and even the local timber wolf pack is beginning to accept her. She’s hunted a few times with us, and has learnt that catching the deer we’re chasing isn’t the way into a wolf’s heart. She lets the timber wolves have the glory now, and they’re getting along better for it. Hell, even I wanted to snarl at her when she beat us to the deer that time. *laughs* She’ll make a good pack member one day, when she stops trying to be the alpha female. She’ll tell you different of course. Sometimes, when we hunt together and it’s just us, I let her win. Don’t tell her I said that. She’ll wring my neck if she thinks I’m letting her beat me to the prize… but it’s all worth it. Seeing her smile, seeing her happy and proud… that’s something I’ll do anything for. Even losing a hunt. She’s beautiful when she’s standing over a fresh kill, empowered by her victory. And hell… she’s a saucy vixen afterwards too. My little alpha female.

FH: Your story, Hunter’s Moon, is a book in a series. Can you tell us a little about the series and can we expect see more of you in other stories in this series?

Nicolae: Shouldn’t you be the one telling me that? *laughs again* I’m sure we’ll cross paths again at some point. The series you write based on the werewolves of my home continent and the vampires of the pure European bloodlines truly reflects the darkness and the danger of our world, but also the intense passion and the deep love we feel for our mates, even if the ones we fall for happen to be the enemy.

FH: Describe yourself in one word?

Nicolae: I’m thinking. *looks pensive* Failure springs to mind, but Tatyana would argue about that. Let’s see. She would say… complicated. I would probably say… possessive. It’s the wolf in me. *cracks a charming smile*

FH: Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. Is there anything else that you’d like to add?

Nicolae: Only that I want your solemn promise not to mention any of what I’ve said when you interview Tatyana. If she comes back knowing any of this, I’m hunting you down.

FH: Hmm, I’m not sure that’s much of a threat. I would probably pay to have you hunt me down. *looks at audience* Wouldn’t you?

You can read more about Nicolae in his vampire / werewolf romance book, Hunter’s Moon…

F E Heaton
The horror of the night he failed to save his werewolf pack from the cruelty of their vampire masters has haunted Nicolae for one hundred years, driving him deep into the Canadian wilderness in search of peace. That peace is threatened when unfamiliar hunters and the scent of blood lead him to a beautiful woman and a hard decision—face his past and help her or risk losing everyone he cares about again.

Bearing a heart filled with grief and with vengeance on her mind, Tatyana is intent on killing the hunters she’s tracking and returning to her vampire bloodline, but her plan didn’t include being shot with poisoned arrows or rescued by a glowering alpha werewolf who stirs forbidden hunger in her.

When the hunters make their move, will Nicolae be able to stop them before it’s too late? Will he be able to overcome the darkness in his heart and embrace his desire for a vampire? And can Tatyana face her fears and risk her life for the sake of forbidden love?

Interview with a vampire – Valentine

You’ve read the interview with his mate and lover, Prophecy, and now you get to read about the man himself, well vampire, Valentine!

Valentine is from my Vampires Realm series and first appeared in Prophecy: Child of Light, which is book one in the Prophecy Trilogy, in which he is the hero (for all three books, of course). He has also made appearances in other Vampires Realm stories, such as Seventh Circle and Spellbound, with Prophecy at his side (and Venturi too). More recently, he showed up in Masquerade, which is due out in January 2012.

I caught up with Valentine in my rather lovely interview room… picture dark red walls, wooden floor, crackling log fire with an ornate marble surround, and two very comfy black velvet armchairs and that’s my interview room. The best place to lure my paranormal people into.

If you want to get a feel for Valentine, then you can read more about him at the Vampires Realm website: http://www.vampiresrealm.com/vampire_valentine.php

(Valentine enters the room and settles himself in the black velvet armchair opposite me. He neatly arranges his dark red knee-length military-style jacket and then sweeps his long fingers over his black hair. His green eyes fix on mine. I clear my throat. Valentine is always a little tetchy around humans so I hope I don’t end up as dinner)

FH: So, what have you been up to since we last saw you?

Valentine: Things have been busy. My bloodline has learned to behave themselves and accept my rule, but now I am constantly working. I had been privy to the inner workings of a bloodline during my position as a hunter, but I had not anticipated that it would be so much work. Lord Kalinor made it appear easy.

FH: I bet it’s anything but easy, but at least you finally have them on your side. You say that you’re constantly working, so does that mean you don’t get to spend much time with Prophecy?

Valentine: She often comes to visit, but at the moment it is difficult for me to find time to go to her, even when I desire to. Cornelius is a competent Chosen Son, but he lacks the leadership skills and respect required to run a bloodline. Often when I leave, the house is in pandemonium by the time I return.

FH: What about Xavier? As your head guard, isn’t he able to control them?

(Valentine sighs emphatically, the first sign I’ve seen of him breathing. As a vampire of almost three hundred, he rarely breathes.)

Valentine: Little woman, I thought that during the documentation process of my species history you would have learned that such a thing would be a disaster. A guard has no place in commanding a bloodline when one of the leaders is there. If Xavier were to step in, the bloodline would lose all respect for Cornelius.

(I shrink into my black velvet armchair, bringing my feet up onto the seat, feeling like a chided youngling)

FH: I see. I don’t confess to being any good at politics. Don’t you miss Prophecy?

(The barest hint of a smile touches his lips and a shine enters his green eyes)

Valentine: With all of my heart.

FH: Aww.

(Valentine glares at me, his eyes briefly changing to blue, their vampiric state. I swallow and silently take back what I did)

Valentine: (He looks down at his hands in his lap and then back at me) Prophecy understands that I must spend time with my bloodline, but sometimes I am able to go to her. We often find time to walk the city together.

FH: (grins) Yeah, she told me all about your moonlit walks and how you kill for her. Super sweet.

Valentine: (raises an eyebrow) A mate should provide for his beloved. I am only following my nature as a vampire. I am sure humans do similar things, such as a male requesting that a female joins him for dinner in a restaurant. It is the same thing.

FH: That puts a new twist on the phrase “dining out”. (I smile at him when he glowers at me) I get what you’re saying though. You want to spend quality time with Prophecy and can’t do that at either mansion, so you head off into the city for some alone time. Do you ever get away for longer periods?

Valentine: We have sometimes gone to stay at one of the apartments I keep in various cities around Europe. Prophecy is terrible at abusing her right to use her bloodline’s private jet and often insists that we go to Italy for only a night or two at a time. She is still researching her mother’s life.

FH: The witch? It’s nice that you help her with that. It means a lot to her.

Valentine: (comes as close to smiling as he gets)

FH: So, do you have any other adventures planned? Prophecy mentioned that Venturi had something in the pipeline. Are you involved in that too?

Valentine: (nods) Yes, we have been to Romania to see him about a problem that he has with the gate there. It is still active and causing trouble for him on a regular basis. We need to find a way to close it permanently.

FH: That sounds a little more tame than your previous adventures. Are you expecting trouble?

Valentine: Prophecy has been seeing visions recently, none of them good, and some of them involving the gate, so we must go to Romania again to see if there is something we perhaps overlooked during our first visit.

FH: Your romance with Prophecy is still pretty hot, and I can see that you really love her. What’s it like having another man in your life though?

(Valentine growls)

FH: I mean, in a non-sexual way. Prophecy said that you two aren’t really into that side of the relationship.

Valentine: As long as he stays within the boundaries of our agreement, and does not attempt to take Prophecy away from me, or take up all of her time, then I do not mind his occasional visits.

FH: Spoken like a man who doesn’t want to share his toys with the other boys in the playground. I can’t blame you. It must be strange allowing your mate to be with another man.

Valentine: (looks sour) She knows her place, and knows not to overstep the boundaries. She is my mate, and can feel everything that I do. I do not believe that she would ever betray me with Venturi.

(the door opens and Prophecy rushes in and lands on Valentine’s lap. She loops her arms around his neck and kisses him)

Prophecy: I would never hurt you. I love you too much. (she strokes his face) If you commanded it, I would never look at Venturi again. My heart is yours.

Valentine: (smiles broadly and I almost keel over from witnessing such a rare thing) And mine yours.

(Prophecy peppers kisses all over his face. It’s strange to see him smiling properly. I give them a moment and then clear my throat. They both look at me.)

FH: Maybe I should wrap this up and give you some alone time. I have a few silly questions that I like to ask the people I’m interviewing. Firstly, what’s your favourite colour?

Valentine: Dark red.

FH: And your favourite smell?

Valentine: Fresh blood, or Prophecy’s scent.

FH: Your favourite possession?

Valentine: (squeezes Prophecy’s waist) The beautiful woman in my arms. (She frowns at him)

Prophecy: I’m a possession now?

Valentine: The only thing I ever wanted. (That gets a smile from Prophecy)

FH: Favourite thing to do?

Valentine: Walk the grounds or the city with Prophecy on my arm. I like nothing more than being alone with her (he gives me a pointed look)

FH: And finally, what’s your favourite time of year?

Valentine: Winter. The nights are long and the city is quiet, and my workload is lighter. I can spend more time with Prophecy then.

(Prophecy starts kissing him again)

FH: Well, it was… yeah… maybe I’ll leave you alone now. (I get up, taking my notes on my next interviewees with me, and sneak out of the room)

Interview with an ex-vampire hunter – Lilith

Keeping with my vast Vampires Realm world for the next few interviews. This time, I’ve invited the very lovely Lilith into my interview room. I thought it was about time we heard from another heroine. If you’re not familiar with her, Lilith was the heroine in my vampire romance novel Seventh Circle and at the start of the book she was working as a vampire hunter for Section Seven.

(Lilith enters my interview room, casually dressed in a rich dark purple jumper and blue jeans. She smiles, gives a little wave, and then comes over and takes her seat opposite me. She toes her black trainers off and settles her feet on the black velvet armchair. Her glance back to the closed door is filled with longing. I smile)

FH: Thinking about Lincoln?

LILITH: (turns to me and smiles) I’m that transparent? (laughs and it’s hard for me to remember that she’s a vampire now, and the lady of her bloodline the Vehemens) You sort of called me in mid-kiss so you can’t blame me for being a little distracted. Lincoln can be such a stickler though. He made me stop and come in. I’m glad that he’s always mindful of his duty and those sorts of things, as it really helped me when I was adjusting, but I would have liked to have finished that kiss.

FH: I’m sure it will be there waiting for you when you get back to him. So, what have you been up to since we last saw you?

LILITH: I’ve finally taken control of the bloodline. It’s still difficult for me but Lincoln is really helping me with all the politics of it and he really runs the bloodline for me. I just listen to his advice and do whatever he suggests. I don’t think he’s noticed yet that he’s really running the bloodline. (giggles) I could probably disappear again for a few months and they wouldn’t notice if he was there. It’s nice having someone I can count on though.

FH: And how has your romance with Lincoln been doing? You showed up recently at the centenary Creator Day masquerade and seemed very happy together. I think you made a few women jealous that night.

LILITH: I did? (looks astonished, her fair eyebrows rising high on her forehead) I think I was so wrapped up in concentrating on behaving as a lady should that I didn’t even notice anything that was happening around me. It’s a little nerve wracking to be surrounded by so many vampires and have everyone watching you. I felt as though they were waiting for me to slip up. It was my first official engagement as lady of the Vehemens. Unfortunately there are some things I can’t just let Lincoln handle. I would have felt calmer and more relaxed if Eve had been there.

FH: Eve is your twin, and she’s also a Vehemens vampire now. Has she joined the bloodline in Oslo?

LILITH: Yes. Tor and Oneiric brought her to us over two years ago now. I was a little shocked when Tor came in with Eve in tow that night, his hand clutching hers. I was convinced for a moment it was to stop Eve from running away. Lincoln didn’t seem very shocked. The sight of Tor… I mean… you have to see the man, he’s immense and cold as ice… holding my sister’s hand and treating her so gently was very troubling at first. Eve assures me that Tor loves her but it just doesn’t seem possible.

FH: I am familiar with Tor. He doesn’t exactly come across as the sort of man you want your sister dating, but I’m sure that Eve is right and that Tor loves her. He seems very protective of her, a little like Lincoln is with you.

LILITH: (smiles) Yes, Lincoln is very protective of me. I don’t think it’s just because I’m his mate either. He’s always been protective me, ever since we first met… back when I was still a vampire hunter. It was a strange thing for me to grasp back then. A vampire desiring to protect a vampire hunter. Lincoln is a very complicated man though and knows his heart, and I’m glad that he made me realise my feelings for him and kept fighting for me.

FH: That’s so sweet. Anyone who saw you dancing at the masquerade would be able to tell you that he’s really madly in love with you. I swear he didn’t let you out of arm’s reach all night and spent most of it on the dance floor with you.

LILITH: Who’s to say that we were there for all those dances because of him? I wasn’t about to let him step more than a foot away from me when there were so many beautiful women looking for partners and a chance to dance with a powerful vampire of another bloodline. I was staking my territory.

FH: Well, it certainly worked. You managed to keep your mate in your arms all evening. I don’t think you would have had a problem with him though. Lincoln only has eyes for you. He would have ignored any dance requests that came from other women. In fact, he probably wouldn’t have even heard them in the first place. The man is completely absorbed by you.

LILITH: The feeling is quite mutual.

FH: I really enjoyed writing down your story, Seventh Circle, and working with you on it. What was it like to have your story told and know that people have been reading it?

LILITH: It was exciting and definitely a story that needed to be told. Section Seven is one of the pure bloodlines’ deadliest enemies and the things they have done deserve to be documented, as well as our fight against them, and of course my romance with Lincoln. It was strange at first to think that people were reading our story but now I’ve grown used to the idea. It’s exciting that readers have picked up the book and know about mine and Lincoln’s love story now.

FH: I have a few silly questions that I like to ask the people I’m interviewing. Firstly, what’s your favourite colour?

LILITH: Hmm, I’m not a fan of one colour in particular. I do like red when it colours Lincoln’s eyes because it makes me realise how hungry he still is for me.

FH: And your favourite smell?

LILITH: Lincoln’s aftershave mixing with the scent of the lake, the trees and the snow on the mountains when we’ve escaped to the cabin together. He likes to sit out under the stars on the picnic table and have me seated between his thighs with my back to him, holding me. It’s very romantic.

FH: It sounds it. Your favourite possession?

LILITH: I heard that Lord Valentine called Lady Prophecy his favourite possession. If that’s allowed then it has to be Lincoln, although I would never call him a possession. He’s the best thing in my life, together with my sister.

FH: Favourite thing to do?

LILITH: Walk the grounds of the Oslo mansion at night with my sister talking about men. (laughs) We always start out on another subject entirely, like how stressful it is running a bloodline and how busy we’ve been… and then somehow we end up on Lincoln and Tor. If they ever heard the things we said about them, they would have egos bigger than the house!

FH: And finally, what’s your favourite time of year?

LILITH: I still love summer. In Oslo, summer is terrible because there’s such little night, but it hasn’t changed my love of that season. I like the warmth in the air and the sense that all is well in the world it brings with it.

FH: Thanks for taking the time to talk with me. I’ll let you get back to that kiss now. I’m sure Lincoln is waiting for you.

(Lilith smiles, slips her trainers back on, and leaves in a hurry)

Did you all enjoy this catch up with Lilith?

If you’re not familiar with Lilith and her story, you can read more about it below…

F E Heaton
Born with powers similar to a vampire’s, Lilith has spent her life hunting demons for Section Seven. On the same night as she watches a vampire kill her best friend, she is faced with her worst nightmare—a client who is not only attractive but a vampire.

Lincoln is a powerful pureblood with a problem. He’s caught up in a prophecy and has little time left to unravel the mystery of the contract between his lord and the Devil before he dies. When witches foretell that a vampire hunter will save his life, he’s prepared to work with his most hated enemy, but he isn’t prepared for the forbidden desire he feels when he meets her.

Their mutual attraction becomes difficult to deny as they work together but when Lincoln reveals the truth about her powers, will Lilith find the strength to embrace a side of herself that she wished didn’t exist? And when they discover Lilith’s role in the prophecy, how far will Lincoln go to save her?

Dark, sensual and fast-paced, Seventh Circle is a story of forbidden love so strong that it will save the world.

Interview with a vampire – Winter

Well, it’s the moment Kiki… I mean, everyone has been waiting. I’ve lured Winter into my interview room for a chat. Yes, we’re back to Vampires Realm people now. Winter is the hero of my werewolf/vampire romance novel Winter’s Kiss and he shares a very forbidden relationship with Nika, his young werewolf lover. You can learn a little more about Winter at my Vampires Realm website: http://www.vampiresrealm.com/vampire_winter.php

(The door opens and Winter enters. I’m not surprised to see that he’s head to toe in black. His stand-up-collared jacket that reaches midway down his thigh is very crisp and his black riding boots are so shiny they reflect the light of the fireplace beside me. He’s the epitome of a guard who takes his job seriously. I’m actually surprised he’s not wearing his armour, cloak and his dragon-like helmet)

FH: Winter. It’s good to see you again. So, what have you been up to since we last met?

WINTER: After the fiasco that happened at the centenary masquerade, things have been slowly getting back to normal. The bloodline has returned to the mansion and I have returned to my duties, both those of commander and envoy. I am due to visit the werewolf bastion again soon with information about the hunters and to collect the information they gathered at the masquerade too. It all needs to be entered into the database. Thankfully, that is a job for someone else.

FH: Of course, I completely believe that you’re going to the bastion just to exchange some information. The werewolf you’re going to meet for this exchange wouldn’t be fair haired, quite young, and pretty, would she?

WINTER: (face remains completely impassive) You know I cannot answer such a question.

FH: It’s not as though I said you would be doing anything with said werewolf besides exchanging intelligence. I could have asked if you were going to swap spit too or perhaps other bodily fluids. (grins at him)

WINTER: You are a dirty little wench at times, you do know that, do you not?

FH: (nods) Yes, but it’s so fun to tease you. Look around you, Winter, there aren’t any Law Keepers present and I’m not interviewing any of them at this time either, so you’re perfectly safe to talk about your relationship. No one will tell on you.

WINTER: (his deep blue eyes scour the room and then he relaxes into the black velvet armchair) Very well. I will be exchanging the information with Nika. We did not get to spend much time together at the ball and it was so difficult to see her there and not be able to speak with her.

FH: I bet both of you were longing to spend some time alone together. How has your romance with Nika been doing?

WINTER: As well as it can under the circumstances. Every night that I wake alone I regret waiting and losing my chance to turn Nika. I only have myself to blame, and it pains me greatly. I want to wake with her in my arms. The only time I can have that is when I am at the werewolf bastion. When she comes to the mansion to visit me as an envoy she cannot stay in my room. It is so difficult. Many of the bloodline would understand and not speak of anything they see or sense, but many more would report us. I am not fortunate enough to have the respect that Lord Hyperion commands. No one in our bloodline would dare expose his relationship. Just as they didn’t dare turn Ineru over to the Law Keepers.

FH: Ineru is home again now, isn’t she?

WINTER: She should not be. Her exile was reinstated but she often leaves the castle and returns to us. It is much easier for her now that she has River back in her life. He can teleport them straight from inside the castle where she is exiled to inside the Validus mansion.

FH: That sounds like a handy trick. Your relationship with Nika is obviously very forbidden, so what was it like to have me write your story and have others read it?

WINTER: Unnerving. I agreed to it so readily, without really thinking it through. It wasn’t so much the fact that my relationship with Nika is illegal and therefore it was a great risk to allow you to write about us… it was the fact that once we began writing the story together, I realised how deeply you delved into the emotions involved and knowing that people would be reading my innermost thoughts and feelings, and my pain, made me feel a little uncomfortable.

FH: I wouldn’t worry about that. You have some fans out there because of how open you were and everything that you went through with Nika emotionally. Women love that sort of stuff. (smiles at him) It won you Nika, didn’t it?

WINTER: (smiles and looks distant, giving me the impression his thoughts are elsewhere) It did indeed.

FH: You really are yearning for her at the moment, aren’t you? What if I told you she’s here because I’ve brought her to be interviewed too?

WINTER: (sits forwards) She is here? In that case, I desire you to end my interview and point me in her direction.

FH: Okay. Hold your horses. I have a few silly questions that I like to ask the people I’m interviewing. Firstly, what’s your favourite colour?

WINTER: Green… the colour of Nika’s eyes.

FH: And your favourite smell?

WINTER: Nika. She smells so sweet. She sometimes sprays her perfume on my pillows so I can smell her when she is away from me. It is a divine sort of torture.

FH: Your favourite possession?

WINTER: I had only one possession, and that was Midnight, my horse. A brave steed. Lord Hyperion has given me a new horse, but it cannot replace Midnight. I feel it will be many long years before I have developed such a bond with this new horse as I had with Midnight.

FH: Midnight was very special to you. I’m sure in time you’ll get used to your new horse. Favourite thing to do?

WINTER: Visit Nika at the bastion because I know I can stay close to her then and sleep the day away with her in my arms.

FH: And finally, what’s your favourite time of year?

WINTER: Any time of the year that I am with Nika. She makes all of the seasons special. I have never seen someone who reacts to each so differently but with such youthful excitement and fascination.

FH: I think she only sparkles in your eyes because you’re so in love with her. (he scowls at me) It’s true, don’t bother trying to deny it. Anyway, thank you for coming to talk to me and Nika is through that door over there.

(Winter is gone in a flash)

FH: He’s going to be annoyed when Nika mentions I’m interviewing her soon.

Well, I hope you’ve all enjoyed this little interlude with Winter.

If you want to know more about him then you can read his vampire/werewolf romance book, Winter’s Kiss.

Interview with a venator vampire – Kearn

Well, I think I need a break already and we’re only just starting day two of my Halloween Spooktacular. I hope you can all keep up with the posts. I guess you can always spend a few days reading them when I’m done with this crazy event! Just make sure you’re here for the giveaways and such, and do leave a comment on the posts you read if you have time, it lets me know you’re there and you’ve enjoyed what I’ve posted.

Okay… on to the second of today’s interviews and this time I’ve lured a rather handsome silver haired vampire venator into my lovely interview room. I shall introduce you all to Kearn, the leading man in my vampire romance book, Forbidden Blood.

(Kearn enters, swiftly crosses the room, dressed in a very fine white shirt and black trousers, and sits in the black velvet armchair opposite me. His silver-white hair is tucked neatly behind his ears and his green eyes pierce mine. I glance down to catch a glimpse of the elaborate silver markings that cover his right hand to his fingertips. The design covers all the way to his shoulder and isn’t a tattoo, it’s a link to the endless dark given to him by the Sovereignty when he took on the role of Venator. A Venator is a sort of hunter.)

FH: So, Kearn… it’s great to see you again. How about we start off with you telling everyone a little about yourself?

KEARN: I am a Venator for the vampire species. I was chosen to succeed my father in his role as Venator for House Savernake. I was not happy with this, and I still resent the Sovereignty for the pain they caused my family and myself by forcing this role upon myself rather than passing it to my older brother, Kyran. A Venator is a hunter. It is my duty to carry out the sentence on vampires known to have broken the law. It is not a duty that I relish. I wish I were free of it, but that can only come through death or retirement, and I am a long way from either. I have a reason to live now. It was given to me by my beloved Amber.

FH: Can you tell us about what happened in your story?

KEARN: Most certainly. I was pursuing a known Source Blood abuser and had been hunting him for several years prior to the night I stumbled upon Amber under attack by a group of vampires. As a Venator, it is my duty to protect humans from my kind. I had not realised that she was a Source Blood, and by chance, the man who had sought to control her turned out to be the one I was looking for. He is elusive as the wind but with Amber’s help I was finally able to track him down and sentence him. It was difficult for me, and I do not think I could have done it without Amber’s assistance.

FH: As you mentioned, you meet Amber in your story, Forbidden Blood. How did you feel about her initially?

KEARN: (sighs) The benefit of hindsight is a beautiful thing. Now I can see with clarity that I was falling for her from the moment I set eyes on her, before I first tasted her blood. At the time, I believed myself indifferent and purely under the influence of her blood. Source Blood is rare. It is a gene in the blood of a specific line of humans, and it can bestow godlike powers upon vampires. It is also highly addictive. When we first met, I was reluctant to interact with humans. Amber was the first human I had actually worked with. Most of the time they are dead by the time I reach them. She entranced me so quickly that I was under her spell before I could realise what was happening, and that only put her life in more danger. She was an easy target for the man I was hunting and he knew that he could use her to weaken me and drive me to act on impulse rather than rationally.

FH: Your relationship with Amber was complicated because she’s human, and a Source Blood, and it’s illegal for you to taste her. Was it difficult around her after you had taken a sip of her blood?

KEARN: Extremely. It had been a long time since I had tasted Source Blood and the effects of Amber’s on me were stronger than I had anticipated. Her blood is divine, a drug more addictive than anything else on this planet, and once I had tasted it, I wanted more. I could not help myself and it was difficult to control myself around her. That one sip triggered hunger in me stronger than any I had felt before and I craved her. Not just her blood though. I craved the whole of her. I needed her to be mine and I knew it was asking a lot of her after everything I had already put her through, but she is so beautiful, and she did not shy away or think me a monster because of what I was or what I desired from her. She accepted me and she brought me back to life and filled my world with light, chasing back the darkness.

FH: That’s beautiful. For all your growl and menacing edge, you’re a big softie when it comes to Amber. How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?

KEARN: It has been quiet for the past few months. Amber is settling into her new life and says that she learns something new each night that we wake together and I teach her about the ways of my kind. Society has accepted her in a way I could not have wished or hoped for. Archduke Pendragon saw to that. We still turn heads at the balls and Amber’s name is on everyone’s lips. They are very eager to see how she turns out. I have been working with some of the other vampire Venators and the Sovereignty on matters regarding our species. It keeps me busy but I always find time for Amber. I want her to never feel that she is alone. She comes with me wherever I go when she can, and is becoming a very good ambassador for better treatment of humans who are brought into our world and are in transition.

FH: Your story, Forbidden Blood, is a book in a series. Can you tell us a little about the series and can we expect see more of you in other stories in this series?

KEARN: I believe that we are in the next book. The whole series follows the vampire Venators in their missions for the Sovereignty, a ruling body of demons that govern the nine demon species. They are the remains of their species, and countless centuries old, and extremely powerful. They bless their Venators with the power to sentence those who break the law. For a vampire, the weapon comes in the form of silver markings that cover the length of our strongest arm, in my case my right, but some are left-handed. Vampires have only a few laws that we uphold, and they are all related to Source Blood. I am not sure of the laws of the other species. Vampires do not tend to interact with them if we can avoid it, although I am aware that many of them share a complex society like ours. Lycanthropes and therianthropes in particular. I am told that the therianthropes are generally broken into two groups, the ailuranthropes, or those who shift into a cat form, and the rest. Vampires do not tend to associate with either group, but there are times when we are required to work together.

FH: Describe yourself in one word?

KEARN: Loyal.

FH: Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. Is there anything else that you’d like to add before you leave?

KEARN: I wish to thank you for taking this time to interview me, and I also hope that you will be able to interview Amber too as she was very excited to hear that I was coming to see you to answer these questions. I am sure she would find it a pleasant change to her usual daily routine, and would like to meet with you again. I would also like to extend my thanks to the humans reading this, and to offer words of comfort in that the Venators are there to protect them should any of them be Source Bloods. I hope they will read, and enjoy my story, and also the glimpse it gives of my world.

FH: Ah, you’re always so very eloquent. I’ll let you get on now as I’m sure you’re busy as always.

(Kearn nods, rises from the seat and leaves the room without a backward glance. I have the feeling he’s going to tell Amber about the interview)

Did you all enjoy this interview with Kearn? If you would like to know more about this vampire and his love story, then here’s some more information for you…

Interview with an immortal – Julian

We’re staying with the world of my epic vampire romance novel Love Immortal for today’s first character interview and catching up with the hero, Julian!

Julian, for those not familiar with him, is the sinfully gorgeous, dark haired and icy-blue eyed immortal protector of Lauren, the latest reincarnation of a goddess he once worshipped. He also commanded her army of Arcadian soldiers in their fight against Lycaon, the vicious original werewolf who was cursed by Zeus for tricking him into eating human flesh. Julian is drop dead handsome and with a beautiful soul to match his exterior. He’s skilled with his silver katana, has preternatural strength, speed, sight, hearing and senses, and is a very determined yet sensitive man. He’s also one of the ancestors, along with Lauren, of what we think of as vampires. Just don’t let him hear you say that!

FH: I have Julian here with me today to talk about his book, Love Immortal. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?

Julian: If necessary. I was born three thousand years ago in Arcadia, what you would think of as Greece these days, and died there. My goddess, Illia, gave me life immortal and Zeus allowed me to pass over, charging me with the duty of giving Illia’s reincarnations my blood in order to awaken them. I am also her protector. Illia’s blood has gifted me with preternatural strength and abilities, but because of it I also share her need for blood as sustenance. Upon my rebirth as her immortal protector, my thirst for blood awakened and I have not been able to eat or drink anything else since. It is a small price to pay for being able to continue to my duty as her commander.

FH: Can you tell us about what happened in your story?

Julian: My story has been flowing for the past three thousand years, broken into chapters that encompassed the lives of each of Illia’s incarnations. The one you chose to write about was the final chapter, in which Lauren was born as the next incarnation and our paths crossed. From the moment I met her, I feared her fate would be the same as all of her predecessors and that she would fall to Lycaon’s blade, the first werewolf and the man she was charged with the duty of defeating. Lycaon had killed all those that had come before her, even Illia, and had continued with his plan to gain revenge on Zeus and Olympus for the curse they had placed on him. For the first time in forever, I hoped that Lycaon would fall and I vowed to do all in my power to ensure that Lauren survived.

FH: In Love Immortal, you meet Lauren, who is the latest reincarnation of the goddess Illia. How did you meet and how did you feel about her initially?

Julian: Lauren is unlike any of the previous incarnations of my lost goddess. She is so much warmer and more compassionate than all of them, even Illia herself. Lauren made me realise that I had long been dead inside and breathed life back into me little by little, until I slowly realised my feelings for her. I had been through so much pain because of her predecessors that it was difficult for me to bring myself to trust her even when I wanted to with all of my heart. I couldn’t take my eyes off her from the moment I set them on her, and I knew I had to find a way to make her mine, even risking my heart to achieve that.

FH: Your relationship with Lauren is complicated because of your role as her protector and the things that have happened in your past. Was it difficult at first?

Julian: It was very difficult. It took a lot for me to come to trust her and convince myself that she was worth the fight, and that she was different to the others and I wasn’t imagining the feelings that she showed towards me. I think I frustrated her immensely at first. In fact, I know that I did. Sometimes she mentions what a pain I was and how hard I made her work. I had not realised that I had made things so difficult for her. I had only thought of guarding my heart against her because of the things that had happened to me in my past and the pain I had been through. I couldn’t bear the thought of Lauren putting me through such pain too. It would have been the end of me.

FH: But it wasn’t, and things turned out well for you in the end. How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?

Julian: It has been busy. We had a short period of rest together to recuperate from the battle and then went straight back to work. Lauren is very enthusiastic about her work and what she sees as her duty. We have trained hard together too, so I know that she is ready to face whatever demons may come our way. At the moment, we are working closely with Duke and are also in contact with Morgan about his werewolf problem. Lauren says that we cannot delay much longer but I have little desire to set foot in Paris again, or see that vampire. I am certain he will try to gain Lauren’s affection somehow and that is something I cannot allow, and if it came to blows I know that Lauren would be angry with me. I cannot help myself when I feel someone is trying to take her from me. She is mine and I love her with all of my heart and my soul. I live for her. I would die for her.

FH: You old romantic! I think it’s beautiful that you’re so possessive of her now that you have her. I have one more question for you and it’s something you’ll need to think about. Describe yourself in one word.

Julian: Steadfast.

FH: I would have gone with gorgeous. *smiles* Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. Is there anything else that you’d like to add?

Julian: Only my thanks to you for penning the tale of our love and victory, and that I hope we can work together again in the future. Lauren has mentioned that you have had several requests for more of our tales. I am sure there is something we can do to satisfy those readers of yours. Another epic quest perhaps. Do you think they would enjoy reading it?

FH: I do. I can’t wait to hear it. Thank you again for being here today, and say hi to Lauren and the gang for me. *watches his tight backside as he walks away* yum.

Interview with an immortal – Lauren

We’re leaving the Vampires Realm world behind for this character interview as it’s time to catch up with the lovely Lauren, the heroine of my epic vampire romance novel Love Immortal.

Lauren, for those not familiar with her, is the beautiful, warm and brave redheaded heroine who discovers in Love Immortal that she’s the latest reincarnation of a demi-goddess when she’s saved from werewolves by Julian. Julian is her sexy, mysterious and immortal Arcadian, who is responsible for giving his blood to her to awaken her latent powers. Together, they team up with Ghost, a demon-hunting organisation, and take on Lycaon, the vicious original werewolf who was cursed by Zeus for tricking him into eating human flesh. Along with Julian, Lauren is also the ancestor of what we think of as vampires.

FH: I have Lauren here with me today to talk about her book, Love Immortal. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?

Lauren: Wow, where to start? I was your regular thirty-something before the night that I met Julian. All I expected out of life was growing up, getting married, doing something with my career and maybe having kids. I certainly never expected that I would wind up facing down a werewolf(!) on my way home one night and having someone like Julian rescue me. *looks dreamy* That man knows how to make an impact on a girl’s heart. I was so shell-shocked that I just went along with everything at first… then out of the blue someone is telling me that I’m a reincarnated goddess and I’m about to reawaken those powers through death. Talk about a slap in the face. I really wasn’t sure how to react to that one. Death at thirty-five definitely hadn’t been on my agenda. I was just lucky that I had Julian there to help me through it all, and that I had the guys at Ghost to support me. I couldn’t have coped without them.

FH: Can you tell us about what happened in your story?

Lauren: Sure. One minute I’m normal and the next I’m a goddess. *laughs but there’s nerves in it* I really still can’t get over that one. Julian was amazing. He was so supportive and kind to me. I know he’s my protector, but I really felt he was helping me out of more than just duty. He did everything he could to make me feel better about what was happening to me, and explained everything so well so I would understand. I had so many questions and so many fears, but he handled them all and he gave me his strength too. He did everything for me. He endured so much for me. I can’t thank him enough for what he went through so he could be there during my awakening. I can’t thank the members of Ghost enough either. They all lent me their strength and without them I wouldn’t have survived Lycaon’s attacks.

FH: In Love Immortal, you meet Julian, who is your immortal protector and reminiscent of a vampire. How did you meet and how did you feel about them initially?

Lauren: Julian saved my butt from werewolves and just thinking about the way he dropped into my life, sword in hand, devastatingly mysterious and sexy, sends a shiver through me. It was difficult to come to terms with the suspicions I had about him and, after those were confirmed, what he was. I mean, it’s not every day that you realise that vampires and werewolves exist, and that you’re about to become a vampire too. He’ll get a mood on if I mention the V word around him, but I still feel that we’re vampires more than anything else. I know we’re different to Morgan and his kin, but we drink blood and we’re immortal.

FH: Your relationship with Julian was complicated by the fact that he is your protector and also everything he’s been through in his past. Was it difficult to crack his armour and the barriers around his heart?

Lauren: It took a lot to get through to him, but I wasn’t going to give up on him. Julian is so gorgeous, and such a beautiful soul, and I fell so hard for him. When I realised what he had been through, my feelings for him grew until I couldn’t contain them. He frustrated me so much with the way he acted but I know it was all because of the way he had been treated, and that I could win his heart if I just persevered and proved I wasn’t going to hurt him too. Talking about this makes me want to go and find him, and give him a hug. I know I lashed out at him sometimes but I think that might have actually worked in my favour as it gave us both a reason to speak to each other about the things we felt, and in Julian’s case, the things he had been through. I think having to fight for him has only made me love him more.

FH: You’re so mushy over him. *smiles* You’re a reincarnated goddess. That must have come as a shock to you. Was it hard for you to accept your fate and your role?

Lauren: Was it ever. I don’t think it was helped by the fact that I only had a short time to come to terms with it before my awakening happened. It wasn’t Julian’s fault that he was late in finding me. I can’t hold that against him because he endured so much in order to be there for me during my awakening. I don’t think I could have suffered what he did. I would have taken the easy way out. Julian helped me accept what was happening to me, and I honestly went through with it so I could win his heart and his love. Sounds corny, but it’s true. I did it for him. I wasn’t going to give up on him, or on life. If the only way to continue living was doing so as an immortal goddess, then I was going to go through with it so I could get what I wanted—a life with Julian.

FH: How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?

Lauren: We’ve been busy. Duke keeps us constantly on the go and I’ve been training hard to improve my skills. Julian is a fantastic instructor, although sometimes it’s hard to concentrate and I end up tackling him to the ground so I can kiss him. He gets miffed when I do that, but I make it worth his while to shut up and submit. *smiles* I think we’ll be going on a new mission as soon as I’m ready. Morgan won’t shut up about his werewolf infestation in Paris. I know that Julian doesn’t want to go back to that city, or see Morgan ever again, but I did promise to help him out. I’ll have to keep my guard up around Morgan and make sure that he doesn’t try anything, because I’m sure that it will be the end of the vampire if he does. Julian won’t stand for it. He’ll kill Morgan if he tries anything.

FH: Describe yourself in one word?

Lauren: Warm. Julian would say that about me and I think I know myself well enough to agree with him now. I tend to put others first and friendships mean a lot to me, and I’ll do all in my power to make people happy. I guess that makes me warm.

FH: Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. Is there anything else that you’d like to add?

Lauren: Julian mentioned that people have been asking for more of our story. I think I’d like that, but I know you’re busy with all your other stories. A sequel might be nice though. *smiles* You know you want to spend time around Julian again. The man is a god!

Interview with a rogue vampire – Tatyana

My second interview during my Halloween Spooktacular is with what many would consider a rogue vampire from my Vampires Realm series…

Tatyana is the vampire heroine in her vampire / werewolf romance, Hunter’s Moon, in which she fell in love with an ex-alpha werewolf. In my Vampires Realm series, that’s a series no-no and more often than not is a death sentence!

I caught up with Tatyana in my rather lovely interview room… picture dark red walls, wooden floor, crackling log fire with an ornate marble surround, and two very comfy black velvet armchairs and that’s my interview room. The best place to lure my paranormal people into.

For those of you not familiar with her, Tatyana is a beautiful vampire of the Nocens bloodline in my Vampires Realm series. This blonde haired and blue eyed beauty finds herself in a sticky situation when she is shot by vampire hunters and rescued by a sexy alpha werewolf. It takes all of her courage and wits to get on his good side, and she gets more than she bargained for in exchange for her bravery. Nicolae rebuilds her lost confidence and gives her back her strength, and makes her yearn to know love with him.

FH: I have Tatyana here with me today to talk about her book, Hunter’s Moon. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?

Tatyana: I can certainly do that. I am Tatyana, a vampire of the Nocens bloodline. My family resides in Budapest, Hungary, and rules the entire country. We do not share our land with any other pureblood vampire line, and have never shared it with any of them. My bloodline is technologically advanced. Whilst most of the European families are content with weaponry that is outdated at best, we have embraced modern technology and changed it to suit our needs. Vampire hunters grow stronger each year. We now employ guns to deal with them, as well as other species that might attempt to attack us. We also create things that assist our fellow vampires. Many bloodlines have purchased technology from us and our family flourishes because of it. We are strong and intelligent, and we will survive the coming war with the hunters.

FH: Um, that’s all good, but I asked you about you… not your bloodline.

Tatyana: *looks a little embarrassed* Of course… I did not mean to ramble about my family. I am young in vampire terms. Much younger than Nicolae is in werewolf years. I have been through a lot in my years though, and have worked hard to please my sire and my bloodline, even when it cost me my happiness. I can see that now on looking back. I did not think to please myself, only others, and I was not happy because of it. I was not doing what I wanted. That has all changed now. I am stronger because of it and I am happy.

FH: It’s okay. I know you’re proud of your bloodline. It seems a running thing with you European vampires. I’m glad that you’ve found some inner balance now. Can you tell us about what happened in your story, because I know that played a big part in your current happiness?

Tatyana: I was on a mission, hunting the vampire hunters who were responsible for my sire’s death. I had never been away from Europe before, so travelling to Canada was a daunting task, and I felt so alone as I tracked the hunters. I was successful in killing some of the group, and tracked the rest deep into the mountainous wilderness. Unfortunately my mission took a turn for the worse there, and I made a foolish mistake that almost cost me my life. If it hadn’t been for Nicolae, I would have died. I still cannot believe that he saved my life. I know that it caused him great pain to assist me. He hides it well but I could see the hurt in his eyes whenever he looked at me during those first few days together. Nicolae was kind enough to assist me in my mission and helped me heal. I owe him everything.

FH: You said you met Nicolae in the woods and that he saved your life. How did you feel on waking to find yourself in the den of a werewolf?

Tatyana: It was frightening at first. I was weak from the poison that had coated the arrows and had lost a lot of blood. Nicolae is an imposing figure, and an alpha werewolf, and he is also older than me. I feared that it would come to a fight between us or that he would kill me, especially when I discovered the horrible torment he had endured at the hands of the Tenebrae vampire bloodline. He switched so quickly between calm and angry towards me that I was not sure how to react to him, or whether I could trust him.

FH: Your relationship with Nicolae is forbidden under the laws of pure vampire bloodlines of Europe because he’s a werewolf. If you’re discovered and caught by the Law Keepers, you’ll be sentenced to death. Was it difficult when you fell for Nicolae?

Tatyana: I do not need reminding of the laws I am governed by. I am aware that my love for Nicolae is a death sentence if we are discovered and reported to the Law Keepers. Nicolae believes that they will not come to Canada to find me and that I am safe with him, but it is always there at the back of my mind. When I realised that I was developing feelings for Nicolae, I was torn between fleeing and staying. The Law Keepers are impossible to evade, and they uphold the law to the letter. If they find out about my relationship with Nicolae, they will dispatch someone to deal with me. Even one Law Keeper would be difficult to overpower or kill. If they sent two or three, I do not think we would survive. It is hard for me because I know that they will kill Nicolae on the spot, while seeking to capture me in order to take me back to Europe and force me to stand trial. I do not want Nicolae to die because of me. My desire to flee wasn’t only to protect myself. It was born of a desire to protect Nicolae too. He has already suffered so much because of my kind.

FH: How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?

Tatyana: Everything is settling down. I have been on several hunts with Nicolae, both with the local timber wolf pack and alone with him. He tells me that the wolves are on their way to accepting me but I think he is being kind. There are still times when the wolves do not trust me. They are cautious around me because I do not smell of wolf other than Nicolae’s scent on me, and I cannot change form to be like them. I can see why Nicolae enjoys spending time with them, and how special their relationship is and what it means to him though. The wolves are peaceful and live life by instinct, never weighed down by worry or things they have to do. They live, breed, hunt, and share their time with their pack. It is a beautiful thing to witness and I am honoured that they allow me to interact with them. The werewolves are a different matter. While Craig and his sister now trust me, I feel there is still a long way to go before the local werewolves become friendly towards me. Nicolae tells me not to worry and that I am safe in his territory, and I believe that with all of my heart. My alpha would not allow anything to happen to me. I am blessed by the depth of his love. It is something I never thought someone would feel towards me.

FH: Your story, Hunter’s Moon, is a book in a series. Nicolae has told us a little about the series already but I’d love your take on it. Can we expect to meet you again in future stories?

Tatyana: Nicolae has spoken of returning home to see the changes that have occurred over the past century for himself, but I do not think this will be anytime soon. The laws regarding werewolves, and their treatment at vampire hands, are still in the process of changing. Until the remaining bloodlines have agreed to destroy the werewolf compounds and have started to rebuild the relationship between werewolves and vampires, respecting them and accepting them as our equals, it would be dangerous to return.

FH: Describe yourself in one word?

Tatyana: I am not sure. Did you ask Nicolae this question?

FH: He said that you would call him complicated. His response for himself was possessive.

Tatyana: Possessive does suit him well. I would say that I am diplomatic.

FH: I think diplomatic suits you well. Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. Is there anything else that you’d like to add?

Tatyana: Only that I believe that there is love, true love and then forbidden love, and that forbidden love has the sweetest taste of all. If your readers would like to read a tale of forbidden love, then mine and Nicolae’s is as forbidden as they come.

You can read more about Tatyana in her vampire / werewolf romance book, Hunter’s Moon…
