Love Immortal – Read the first 3 chapters on Authonomy

My endeavour to get myself an agent is close to reaching its climax. At least the first stage anyway. I’ve faced my demons and fears, and have decided to add Love Immortal to Authonomy.com. Love Immortal was known as Arcadian during its project stage, but now it is fully fledged and deserves to be known by it’s correct working title.

To tempt you into reading it and leaving a comment, and even backing the book if you joined Authonomy when I posted Seventh Circle there, or join it now, here’s the blurb…

Love Immortal
When you’re searching for your purpose, the last thing you expect is to discover you’re a reincarnated goddess who’s about to regain her immortal powers.

Lauren is an average woman who is about to become anything but that. Rescued from werewolves by handsome immortal Julian, she discovers that she’s a reincarnated goddess with a 3000 year old destiny, and that’s only the start. Soon, she will need to awaken her powers by drinking blood and continue her duty to defeat Lycaon, the original werewolf and the man who murdered her parents, before he can gain revenge on Zeus. Swept into a dark new world, Lauren embraces her destiny and her desire to both avenge her parents and win Julian’s heart.

With the help of Ghost, a demon-hunting organisation, Julian fights to protect Lauren. But his feelings go beyond duty. Bound by the rules of her predecessors, Julian battles the attraction, determined to hold on until he cannot deny his forbidden love for her. But Lauren will stop at nothing to crack Julian’s armour.

As the love between them grows, so does the threat of Lycaon. Under a full moon, Lauren and Julian battle for their future together against a vast army of werewolves. Lauren fights to the end against Lycaon but will she be strong enough to win her happily forever after?

Please take the time to read the first three chapters posted there and comment, even back the book if you can as that would really help me. I’m trying to get an agent with this one, so feedback or comments, or backing the book would be a wonderful way for you to show your support of my writing. If I can get an agent, who knows, I might get published and you might see my books on the bookstore shelves!!! You can read, comment and back the book here:

A massive thank you in advance to everyone!

Snowbound… just the ten inches of snow out there!

Well, for once the MET Office weren’t lying and we’ve had around 10 inches of snow so far. That’s 25cm. It’s still snowing now, and my snowman I made this morning is gradually becoming featureless as he sits on the covered table in my back garden. This has to be the worst snow I’ve ever seen, or at least can remember seeing. I couldn’t get to work this morning. It would have been impossible to even try with the mile walk through the snow to the train station. I doubt tomorrow will be any better, or even Friday at this rate. It’s terrible out there. Here’s a picture to prove it…

See, that’s my back garden. Lots of snow! The bird table in the background has an afro. It started snowing on me again when I was making my snowman on my table. He’s very fuzzy with new snow now!

I’ve been working hard this week writing synopses of varying lengths for Arcadian, which I can now reveal is really called Love Immortal. It’s hard going and not something I enjoy, but there isn’t much point in spending a year writing and honing a novel only to rush through the synopsis and shoot yourself in the foot when submitting to agents. You may as well take a decent amount of time out of your schedule to write something which really sells the book and makes it sound as exciting as it is. No one enjoys writing synopsis, and for early stage writers like myself it’s very difficult to do, but it’s worth making the effort. I’ve allowed the whole of January for synopsis writing. I have a rough one page, a rough three page and a rough five page synopsis right now. They all need work and I’m bound to do another version of them before I’m satisfied. They’ll need revising too before I eventually send them out to my selected agents in February.

It’s time to make tea and watch the snow again before I continue trying to hone my three page synopsis into something of a satisfactory first draft.

Samsung N110 Netbook – A necessary writing tool

Well, it isn’t really, but I’ve had my eye on getting a netbook for a while now as I’m convinced that it will help me with my romance novel writing. See, I currently have a Samsung Q35 laptop which I love to pieces, but it’s 2.5 years old now, and while the battery will go for 3 hours plus still, it just isn’t enough to cover my writing day. The journey to work, a little time pre-work at the office, lunch and the journey home totals around 3 hours 45 minutes, which my laptop usually doesn’t quite make now, so I’ve been having to take in my charger too.

The trouble is, that makes my bag rather heavy. When I only have to take the laptop, it’s bearable with all the walking I do, but the charger really adds to the weight. I’ll continue to use my laptop when I’m writing at home, but I’ll be taking the netbook to work from now on and basically using it like a word processor.

The thing that swung it for me was the fact I could take it to work every day and use it in place of my paper notebooks when I’m writing up notes and planning my stories. You don’t know how often I find I’ve written down a note on a story in some random notebook and have to trawl through my stack of around thirty notebooks searching for where I wrote it! Or how often I have to re-write out notes onto separate pieces of paper when arranging the story notes into order because I’ve written notes for different scenes on the same sheet of paper.

This nifty little netbook should eliminate all of that. Okay, it’s not totally green as I’ll have to print off the notes for the story I’m writing at the time, as I just can’t do that switching windows thing when I’m writing. It drives me crazy and really drags me out of my writing if I have to hop between windows on screen. I’d much rather just let my eyes shift from screen to paper notes. Plus, I touch type so I can write while looking at my notes. Go me! I can’t do that switching between windows on screen.

The only downside is the netbook came with Windows 7 Starter, which is Windows most disgustingly basic OS and their paltry attempt to make you scream, tear your hair out because you can’t even change the wallpaper, and upgrade to Home Premium. I don’t think so. I searched on google and found a way to get around that. Much better now I have my Allelujah Haptism wallpaper which I drew on there!

Okay… I better get on with some more work. I’ve spent this weekend getting most of my romance ebooks into Smashwords. Now I want to make some of my romance novels into paperbacks with Lulu and get them distributed.

There really is no rest for the wicked!

Happy New Year to all of my readers!

I just want to take this moment to thank all of my readers for their continued support this year, and to welcome any new readers. 2009 has been a wonderful year for me, and I am slowly progressing towards my dream of becoming published and securing an agent. I hope that the New Year brings you everything that you dream of and desire too, and that you’ve all had a wonderful holiday season with your friends and family.

In the coming year, I’m hoping to find an agent and then homes for some of the fantastic paranormal romance novels I have been slaving over. I really hope that I can succeed because I think you guys will love these stories that I have been sitting on, and I would love to reach even more readers with my romance stories.

I will also be working on free short stories, continuing my A Day in the Life series, which now has it’s own website. With luck, I will be able to release a new short story for you all to read around once a month. Fingers crossed that the muse remains with me on them. It’s great fun having to read my older stories to get back into character to write these shorts.

I’m also going to be continuing to post my free paranormal vampire romance novel serialisation, Of Blood and Snow, which also has it’s own website now. Be sure to check them out. Chapters will be posted at least once a week, if not more!

Happy New Year everyone!

A Day In The Life – NEW FREE STORY SERIES!

I mentioned a while back, well, earlier this week, that the first in my new free short story series, A Day In The Life, was available for reading, and that I was making a site specifically for the series.

Well, I’ve finished making the site. Yes, it’s much the same as my new site for Of Blood and Snow. Check it out though, and read the story while you’re there. Each story will have a 25% discount code at the end so you can buy the story it follows on from if you want.

The first one is a vampire christmas read, so get into the spirit and give it a read. Don’t forget to comment, because comments make me write faster.

Read it now: http://www.felicityheaton.com/adayinthelife/free-romance-stories.php?title=2

If you have a hero or heroine from my stories that you would LOVE to see a story for, use the contact form on the site to let me know! Who knows, I might write their story next. Contact me here: http://www.felicityheaton.com/adayinthelife/contact.php

Happy reading!

It’s Christmas time… new free short story and 25% discount!

It’s Christmas time… well, past Christmas Day now.

The swelling on my knee is finally coming down, leaving ugly yellow bruising behind which makes me look as though I’m part zombie. I’ve been having a nightmare with my PS3 not playing DVDs but have now fixed it via going into the system and restoring the files to fix any corrupt bits. Yay! And I’m off out this evening to my sister’s house for yet another party!

On top of that, I’ve finished putting the proof work into the final doc of Arcadian, so we’re ready to submit that to agents and publishers in the New Year. I’m really excited about that, but I’m sure the hard work of getting synopses and query letters together will dampen it.

Oh, and I’ve released a new short story, a free one in fact.

A Day in the Life: Kassian is part of my new A Day in the Life series, which is a series of free short romance stories which catch up with my heroes and heroines so we can see what they’ve been up to since their main story ended!

A Day in the Life: Kassian
A year has passed since Kassian rescued his vampire hunter, Alicia, from the hands of a powerful elder vampire. Since that night, they have fled the vampires pursuing them, and have ended up in London. Things haven’t been easy for Alicia, with the other hunters turning their backs on her because of her love for a vampire, and Kassian sometimes gets the feeling that Alicia still wants to run away from him and their feelings. With the Christmas season at hand, he decides that Alicia deserves a present to put under her tree, or at least on her finger—one that he hopes will give her happiness and will prove how much he loves her.

Kassian is the hero from A Promise of Passion. You can save 25% on the main story with a coupon code in this freebie!

On top of all this, I’m having a Winter Warmer Sale for the whole of January! You can SAVE 25% on ALL of my ebooks on the alinarpublishing.com website. Check out the excerpts…

New Paranormal Romance short story

I’ve been working on a new free short paranormal romance story recently. It’s a seasonal piece and part of a new series of short stories which I’ll be writing next year. The series is called “A Day In The Life” and all of the stories will be scenes from the lives of the characters in my for sale stories.

First up is Kassian, from A Promise of Passion. I really enjoyed writing his short, and it came out a bit longer than expected, but it was good fun and worth it. I’m editing it at the moment and hope to post it soon, and then I’ll get the site ready for the rest of the short stories.

I’m also working on a new story. I’m just writing notes for it right now but I think it’s going to be good. It’s definitely novel-length, and is a vampire romance. For a change, both the hero and heroine are vampires. It’s a bit different to my recent stories, so I’m really looking forward to getting going on it. I can’t really do much except plan it for now, as I have to focus on getting Arcadian ready for sending out to agents and publishers.

I’ll hopefully have time to write this new story between the second drafts of Forbidden Blood and Ascension. It should be a nice break from the editing work that will be involved in getting those two ready for submission.

It’s Christmas soon, but I won’t stop working. I’ll have that free short story up soon for everyone to read and comment on, and then will post again giving you guys more information about what I’ve been up to and what my plans are for 2010!

If I don’t post before then, and if you celebrate the season, Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year to everyone”

Competition winner / New Christmas competition

The winner of my previous contest, chosen at random, is Margie P!

Margie, email me at my usual address author@felicityheaton.com and tell me which of my ebooks you would like and which format: HTML or PDF

Onto this month’s competition. Again, just comment in order to enter, and remember to leave your name so I can call it out if you win!

I’ve just put my Christmas decorations up. I was inspired to do it earlier than normal this year because I was very late putting them up last year, leaving it until the weekend before Christmas Day, which is very unlike me.

I really love decorating the house, and this year I had some mince pies, a little glass of my favourite rose wine, and listened to classical Christmas music. It was really nice and made me feel very festive and happy. I love this time of year, and all the lights and getting together with my family makes it really special. I’ve always loved giving presents too, so buying for my family isn’t really a chore. I love to splash out a little on my husband too and spoil him.

What I want to know from you guys is what your favourite thing about the season is, and if you have anything special you do every year to get you into the festive mood?

Comment with your answers and you could be in with the chance to cuddle up to the hero of your choice from my stories this chilly winter!
