new vampire romance is recommended read!

My next story in the Prophecy Trilogy, Prophecy: Caelestis and Aurorea, has just received its first reviews and they’re both corkers!

Continuing in the footsteps of Prophecy: Child of Light was going to be a difficult task for the second book in my opinion, since that first book has received so many great reviews, including a glowing 5 angel Recommended Read from Fallen Angel Reviews.

Thankfully, I needn’t have worried since so far, Prophecy: Caelestis & Aurorea has garnered itself two 5 star reviews, one of which is a Fallen Angel Reviews Recommended Read!

Lena C @ Fallen Angel Reviews gave it 5 Angels & a Recommended Read!
“Prophecy and Valentine are back in the second book of the Prophecy series. As I’ve said before in my first review, this author, F E Heaton has a very imaginative mind in her for creating a world where vampires, wolves and magic combine making a beautiful paranormal story. I fell in love all over again with Prophecy for in the first story she seemed naïve, young and innocent about the vampire world. She is mature now and knows that the only one in her life that means anything to her is Valentine. Here is a young woman who is finding out that the only way to get things done is by yourself and not to let fear overcome you. I loved this story and can’t wait for the third one in this series for I am anxious to see how they will overcome the final battle and can Prophecy find Valentine.” (read the whole review here)

Anita @ The Romance Studio gave it 5 Hearts
“Prophecy is a fascinating vampire trilogy. Caelestis & Aurorea is the second installment in this highly imaginative and truly creative tale. Readers will need to read these stories in order to really understand and fully enjoy what is taking place. This fast paced tale will totally captivate the readers and maintains their interest throughout this exciting story… The action is non stop and some times quite brutal in description. These are vampires at war and they hold nothing back as they battle with sword, fang and claw. The excitement and intrigue is easy to become totally absorbed in as the story progresses. Readers are in for some surprises that will take them completely unaware and leave them anxiously awaiting the next book in the Prophecy trilogy. Caelestis and Aurorea by F.E. Heaton is a fascinating adventure and amazingly creative addition to the world of vampire romance and readers are highly encouraged to add it to their reading list.” (read the whole review here)

I’m thrilled, and spent a good part of this weekend bouncing around my house grinning like a loon and squeeing!

Bestseller Paranormal Romance Ebook!

Wow, just read through the blog and realised that I hadn’t been crowing about these reviews and the fact that Prophecy: Child of Light spent three weeks in the Fictionwise.com Bestseller list! It was amazingly exciting to see it there. Made me so proud. I really hope the second book in the trilogy, Prophecy: Caelestis & Aurorea can live up to it!

Here’s some reviews I had recently for Prophecy: Child of Light

“The first in a new epic vampire series. The characters were wonderfully crafted; both Prophecy and Valentine take on realism in your mind. The story line is very creative…This is the first book of Ms. Heaton’s that I have read. I really enjoyed the whole adventure and I’m waiting for more in this dark new series.” — Connie Devaney, Paranormal Romance (read the whole review)
“Ms. Heaton’s novel Prophecy: Child of Light starts this series of with a bang. The characters are extremely interesting and have depth. The story is very unique and I’ve never ready anything like it. It has a minor Romeo and Juliet theme going on, but has a very dark and dangerous undertone…Even with so many pages the book is a quick read and leaves you wanting more. I can’t wait to read the next book – Prophecy: Caelestis & Aurorea.” — Tammie King, Night Owl Romance — 4.5 Stars (read the whole review)
“Wonderfully imaginative this story seems to fly from beginning to end. Readers will be left anxiously waiting for the next installment in Prophecy’s story. For exciting action and romance as well as amazing creativity readers are encouraged to look for Prophecy: Child of Light by F.E. Heaton.” — Anita, The Romance Studio — 4 hearts (read the whole review)
Needless to say I was thrilled!

when real life takes over…

Well…RL took over a little recently and I think I got lost in all the work and forgot to update this darned thing.

I sometimes wonder who reads it anyway. It would be interesting to get a show of hands on that account.

What have I been up to?

Well, I’ve been internet-less at home for the past week because we’re switching provider and the idiots forgot to send us the new router and software. I could have screamed. Hey, at least I’m back now.

Prophecy: Child of Light has been getting some great reviews. It’s a wonderful paranormal romance ebook that I think everyone should give a chance. Actually, it’s a trilogy, but it’s worth it, honest. And I’m not just saying that because I wrote it! lol.

We had new sofas on Sunday… mum decided to get herself some new ones and because her old ones are only 3 years old and match the colour scheme of our lounge, we took those. It was great fun breaking up our old sofas once the new ones were in. I spent most of Sunday in the garden beating them with a hammer after I’d ripped them apart with a stanley knife. It also gave me a chance to tidy the garden a touch. We’re heading for a real declutter session soon. Our house is only a 2-bed so there’s not much room for lots of crap.

Oh, and the biggest news this weekend was not the fact that I managed to spend my entire saturday working even though I didn’t have the internet (book publishing waits for no person!), but that my aunt’s cat Tia gave birth to my kitten, Koyo. We don’t know if it’s male or female yet as it’s barely a few days old, but it’s small, cute and ginger like its mum–yes, Tia is a ginger female so there’s a chance the baby is female too. She’s such a small cat that she only had 1 baby, but my aunt is letting her have another litter as I wanted 2 kittens. I’ve been a bit lost since my old cat died last October and decided when I Japan in November to get kittens in the summer.

I get to meet Koyo (which basically means Autumn Colours in Japanese – very apt for a ginger cat) on the 8th April, the day after my birthday, but won’t get to take it home until another 4 or 5 weeks after that.

I’ll post some reviews when I get time. Just had an amazing one from The Romance Studio for Prophecy: Caelestis & Aurorea… the reviewer had the review in only 10 days after I’d submitted the ARC!!!

TTYL!

Bestselling Vampire Romance Ebook!

Well, I’ve got my first bestseller. Prophecy: Child of Light is currently at Number 10 in the Fictionwise Bestsellers List, and is now Number 9 in the Fictionwise Romance List. (it was number 7). Needless to say I’m very excited about that. I can’t believe the great attention this story has received. It’s technically a bestseller. lol. Check it out here: http://www.fictionwise.com/eBooks/eBook44209.htm

I’m really hoping that book two, Prophecy: Caelestis & Aurorea, lives up to the first one. Dear God, what are you all gonna make of Venturi? Well, love him or hate him, he’s an integral character. Personally, I think he’s brilliant.

I’ve just finished writing the first draft of book three, Prophecy: Dark Moon Rising. I’m reading it through now before sending it off to the ever-lovely Maria so she can give me her much needed opinion of it.

It’s almost time!

It’s almost time for the release of Prophecy: Child of Light! I’m really hoping that it will get as good a reception from the readers as it has been from the reviewers. Fingers crossed.

I’m planning a really good shindig to celebrate its release. As you’ll all probably know, I’m holding the all-day launch party at the Love Romances Cafe. I’ll be invading it with my vampires in tow, and plenty of fun and competitions to keep the readers having a good time. I’ll post more about my plans nearer the time, probably on Friday, and in the groups on Saturday so people know where to find the real party this weekend!

I’ve just finished updating the site with the reviews, an excerpt of Prophecy: Child of Light and other bits and bobs. Site maintenance doesn’t half take up some time.

I’ll be working this weekend while hosting the chat too. Multitasking at its finest 🙂

Speak again soon!

The first reviews are in!

Yes, the first reviews are in and what a relief! I’ve been panicking about the reviews for Prophecy: Child of Light since I first sent it out into the world in ARC form. Maria told me so many times not to worry…she’s told me repeatedly that the story is great and people would see it…turns out she was right.

The first review was good, a 4.5 star from Ecataromance.com

The second review has got me squeeing like crazy.

I just got my first Fallen Angels Reviews Recommended Read!

They gave Prophecy: Child of Light 5 angels and a Recommended Read
F.E. Heaton is one person that can kick butt when it comes to magic and the paranormal. Valentine has never seen the likes of Prophecy before but something in her blood speaks to him in a way that even his sire has never done before. This is the first in a series that this reviewer is going to keep an eye out for. There is a war that is starting and only Prophecy can defeat another dangerous vampire. I loved Valentine’s part in this book and though there was no ending but a continuation of what is to come readers will be enchanted with F.E. Heaton’s imagination and her way of pulling you into this world and different places so easily you will not want to put it down. Don’t let the page count (525 pgs) scare you for once you start reading you’re not even going to remember the pages it pulls you in wanting to know what Prophecy and Valentine are going to do. Awesome job F.E. Heaton and I can’t wait for the second in the series.” — Lena C, FAR (read the whole review)

Dracula for Christmas!

What else could anyone want but Dracula for Christmas?

I got my copy of the Radio Times Christmas Guide last night when shopping. It’s a traditional thing to buy one and go through highlighting everything you intend to watch over xmas. There was an article in it about a BBC adaptation of Dracula. Interesting. Apparently it’s labelled as being all erotic, playing on the repressed sexual desire in the book, and doesn’t actually contain Harker. It just seems to be about Dracula and Lucy.

Dramatically changing the nature of a story is nothing new when it comes to telly adaptations. That I can deal with, though never truly understand when the storyline in the book is perfectly good anyway (I think it’s the scriptwriter wanting to put their little bloody stamp on the story and make it theirs – much like a bad editor does to a book).

What plagues me is this obsession of the erotic vampire. Dracula was erotic without the need to resort to on-page sexathons.

Don’t get me wrong…I write sex in my stories when it suits the plot, but never because an audience demands it. I just can’t comprehend the need to “sex up” Dracula. The UST in that story, and in several of the films it spawned, is enough for me. I don’t need to see the physical act in order to feel the desire. I’ll never grasp while people have to make vampires sex crazy. They’re sexy in themselves, in a naughty, dark kind of way. They don’t really need to be screwing every person they come across, be them male or female. I’ve got scenes in Prophecy with biting in them that are sexier than any love scenes I’ve written.

Of course, all of this talk is just whispers in the wind because people want sex and sex they’ll get. When did we become a world of sex-driven, hormone-fuelled, nymphomaniacs? We buy ebooks for sex, read fanfiction for sex, watch telly for the relationships because Hell they might have sex! Even paperbacks are leaning more towards the sex.

Not really a good environment to bring children up in, telling them the way they’re supposed to be all responsible and grown up, which these days means obsessing over sex.

🙂

I’ll fade quietly into the background now…maybe in a whirl of smoke or something very Dracula like…and a distant creepy laugh.
