Flash fiction poll results and a new poll
The results are in for the poll where I asked you all who you would like me to write a piece of flash fiction for. Here they are:
24 votes – Julian and Lauren (Love Immortal)
20 votes – Apollyon and Serenity (Her Dark Angel)
18 votes – Hyperion (Vampires Realm series)
14 votes – Prophecy and Valentine (Prophecy Trilogy)
12 votes – Nicolae and Tatyana (Hunter’s Moon)
6 votes – Lincoln and Lilith (Seventh Circle)
I deduce from this that more people need to read Seventh Circle. Lol.
Julian and Lauren are the clear winners, although good old Apollyon did give them a run for their money and Hyperion is clearly popular! Were you all hoping he’d get a romantic encounter in his flash fiction?
I’ve created a new poll with a list of plot devices and now you get to vote on them, and then I’ll put the two together and you guys can read the results!

Series versus Stand Alone stories
I’ve been busily proofing my next vampire romance novel this week and battling a cold, and at the same time I’ve been pondering a question that has been on my mind all month.
Do readers prefer their books in a series, or as a stand alone?
So I’ve decided to run a poll on the matter. It’s sitting there at the top of this blog waiting for your vote, so be kind and help me out here, and take a moment to decide whether you prefer series books or stand alone books.
The reason I’m interested in knowing is because my Amazon Kindle sales figures, amongst others, shows a trend towards series stories, and I know I’m a series reader myself, so I wanted to check out what everyone else thinks about this. If readers are looking for series to sink their teeth into, then it obviously makes more sense for me to focus on the series I have running, and those I have planned, rather than writing stand alone stories.
At the moment, I have a few series:
Sons of Lyra – Science fiction romance series – complete at 4 short stories
Daughters of Lyra – Science fiction romance series – complete at 5 novellas
In Heat – Paranormal shape-shifter romance series – complete at 2 novels
Her Angel – Paranormal angel romance series – ongoing at 3 novellas (there will be a novel released later this year)
Vampires Realm – Paranormal vampire / werewolf romance series – ongoing at 9 stories (plus another later this year)
I did used to write my Tri-Kingdom series, which was fantasy / steampunk romance, but fantasy isn’t really a genre that’s selling right now unfortunately. I have a whole world planned for it.
I also have two upcoming series – S.E.E.D and my Hades’ Boys.
There’s also the potential for other stories following Love Immortal and Forbidden Blood (this novel is out on April 23rd).
But I do have a whole bunch of non-series / Stand Alone stories that I’d like to write too… so I’m wondering which to focus on at the moment.
Please vote in the poll, and if you want to explain your vote, please leave a comment on this post… just let me know whether you prefer it when I write series or stand alone.
Thanks lovelies.

Happy Holidays everyone!
I was so busy in the run up to Christmas that I didn’t have a chance to blog and wish everyone a wonderful holiday with their friends and families. I hope you’ve all had a great time.
I spent Christmas day with my family, but there’s so many illnesses going around at the moment that not everyone could make it, and some of those who did really weren’t up for a party. New Year’s Eve will hopefully see everyone feeling much better and up for a paaaarty.
I received some new books for my TBR pile this Christmas. They’re joining my long list of books from my birthday (back in April!) that I haven’t had a chance to read yet. I did take a day out yesterday to read Lara Adrian’s Kiss of Crimson, which was fairly good. I solid good, 3.5 stars. I liked it, but it lacked emotional depth in places where I wanted it most, and the ending was resolved far too easily. I like fights to be a little more difficult.
My full list of books received at Xmas are:
Lara Adrian – Kiss of Crimson
Lara Adrian – Midnight Awakening
Lara Adrian – Midnight Rising
Lara Adrian – Veil of Midnight
Lara Adrian – Taken by Midnight
J R Ward – Covet
Gena Showalter – The Darkest Kiss
Gena Showalter – The Darkest Pleasure
Gena Showalter – The Darkest Whisper
Gena Showalter – The Darkest Passion
I love Ward and Adrian. Showalter not so much but I’m curious about her stories. I’ve read the first one and it was okay. I’m reading her more as competition research. I now have 16 books on my TBR list at Goodreads:
http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/1649956?shelf=to-read
I’d better get cracking. I’m determined to squeeze in some reading time this coming year!
Did you all have a great Christmas? What books or e-books did you receive?

February is vampire month at my blog
I’m thrilled to announce that February is going to be a grand old month on my blog because it’s going to be dedicated to Vampire Romances, and it’s going to be open to any authors wishing to participate. So, here’s a little more about…
Vampires for Valentine’s
The plan is that every weekday with the exception of Valentine’s Day itself, will see a new author posting on the blog, telling readers about their stories and their series, and why they love writing vampires. There’ll also be a giveaway to sign up for, with prizes from myself and hopefully other authors.
I’m using this post as a call to authors–published and independent alike. If you write vampire romance and want to share your love of these sexy preternatural creatures with readers, please contact me at author [at] felicityheaton [dot] co [dot] uk
As I said, I’m looking for authors to write about their stories, post excerpts/links to their books, introduce themselves to a new set of readers, and generally have fun on my blog. Multiple posts will be accepted and I can schedule them in throughout the day as requested. Any book promoted MUST be a vampire romance.
Weekdays are open and I’ll be assigning days on a first come first served basis. Once the dates are full, that’ll be it I’m afraid. This call is open until end of December. If I get an overwhelming response, I might consider hosting two authors a day, as I know that paranormal/vampire romance is very popular. If you would like a specific date, please ask and I’ll see what I can do.
Weekends are closed as I do most of my blogging then and have stories of my own I would like to share with readers during this month.
Authors, if you would like to donate to the giveaway prize fund, please let me know. All authors will choose their own winner and arrange for the distribution of prizes themselves. I’m an ebook author, so ebooks are accepted as prizes too.
If you write racier vampire romance / erotica, I’d love to host you too, but your excerpts and covers will need to be audience friendly. I don’t run an adult blog, so I’ll have to ask that excerpts aren’t overly erotic/sexual in nature.
If you’re a review blogger, or reader, I’d love to have you onboard too, spreading the word to people about the event. The more people who visit, the merrier.
Thanks!
Felicity

Happy December everyone!
It’s December 1st, which means that this weekend I’ll be putting my Christmas decorations up. I’m a sucker for the season and love all the fairy lights and pretty things.
I’m also back from Barcelona now. Did everyone miss me? I had a great time with my husband and will be sharing some pictures on my blog and facebook this weekend. I’m already back to work again, both my full time job and writing. Still proofing Love Immortal but that will be done this weekend and then I’ll be doing the second draft of Hunter’s Moon.
I’m also going to be busy this month with interviews at various places, chats at various yahoo!groups, and lots of writing work. Check out my events page if you want to know more.
I’ll also be releasing another free short story in my A Day in the Life series.

Happy Thanksgiving – giving thanks to my readers
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates it, and to those who don’t, thanks anyway!
I’m British, and we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here, but I want to take this moment to thank all of my readers for their continued support, and to welcome every new readers who has found me over the past few months since I started releasing books again. I love to write, and reaching readers like yourselves is the primary reason I pen stories… so I can share them with someone like me, who enjoys a good romance and wants to be swept off her feet (or his feet) to somewhere far away for a short while.
I write for you all, and for myself too, and for the many more readers who will eventually find my stories and hopefully love them as much as you all do. You rock. You’re wonderful. So thank you for everything you’ve done for me, and all I can do to repay you is continue to write stories that you’ll hopefully enjoy and love as much as my previous ones.
I’ll be away this weekend, but when I return, I will update everyone with my progress on stories for next year, and the exciting times ahead. I’ll be revealing the books that will be available in 2011, and also the cover for Hunter’s Moon, my next Vampires Realm story that will be released on January 15th 2011. I’m proofing Love Immortal at the moment… in case anyone was wondering why I hadn’t updated recently.
Have a great holiday!
Felicity x
