Blood Betrayed by Gabrielle Bisset

My lovely fellow paranormal romance author, Gabrielle Bisset, has a new book out today. Blood Betrayed is the second book in her Sons of Navarus series, and this time the hero is Saint. Read on for the blurb and excerpt.

Blood Betrayed
Gabrielle Bisset

I am everything forbidden. I am vampire.

Haunted by betrayal, Saint hides in the human world, giving his heart to no one and finding the only solace from his past in the arms of human women. Now as the Archons begin their takeover of the vampire world, this Son of Navarus has been marked for death.

Summoned to defeat the Archons by the world that shunned him, Saint must face his past and Solenne, the woman he loved and lost a century ago, for only in accepting her will his body and soul finally find salvation.

EXCERPT

“Solenne, can you find a woman who doesn’t smell like she’s been deep fried in animal fat tonight?”

Closing the door to the refrigerator, Solenne turned to see Saint standing at the kitchen’s center island. Shirtless. Again.

“Saint, do you own any shirts or do you need me to pick some up for you?”

Smirking, he raised his eyebrows in amusement. “Have we become a prude?”

Pushing past him, she sat down at the table and popped a grape into her mouth. “Don’t you concern yourself with me, but dial back the Cro-Magnon act, can you?”

Leaning against the counter, Saint propped himself up on his elbows and rolled his eyes. “And the girl from last night?”

Solenne secretly enjoyed the thought of him repelled by Marie for any reason. Maybe he didn’t drink from her. That would explain why he was being such an ass. Maybe he didn’t sleep with her either.

“Marie seemed perfectly fine to me,” she said casually as she picked grapes off the vine. “Maybe you just weren’t her type. Maybe she has more refined tastes in men.”

“Yeah, that sounds right. A woman who smells like a French fry has refined tastes. Just find me a woman who smells like a woman should.”

You’ll be lucky if I bring you one at all.

Saint strolled past her after issuing his order as if he were the king of the castle. God, he was infuriating!  If she’d ever met a man who could push her buttons more than Saint, she couldn’t remember him. Wouldn’t have wanted to remember him, at any rate.

It still amazed her how different he and his brother were. Teagan was smooth and so much fun to be around. And Saint? Always the darker, more sullen brother, he’d transformed into a shell of the man she’d met a hundred years ago, more detached and alone than anything else now.

But behind his gruff exterior—behind the defensiveness—that vulnerable soul she’d known then must still exist. At least she hoped it did.

It did no good to think about that now, though. She had a job to do, and at the moment that meant finding a human female to provide him with what he needed.

Even if it felt like she was betraying everything she held dear in her heart the whole time she was doing it.

I have the lovely Gabrielle Bisset on my blog today to share an excerpt of her recent release, Love’s Master, with us all. Gabrielle’s excerpt contains adult material, so it might not be suitable for everyone on my blog, but I’m sure most of you won’t mind 😉

Love’s Master

Second in my trilogy of erotic romance novellas set in Victorian England, Love’s Master is at its heart the story of a woman who finds someone who she can truly be herself with, and that includes being the submissive she yearns to be.

Blurb:  23 year old Lily finds herself widowed and forced to live with her brother and his family, including his eight year old son William, who is nothing short of a terror.  Sure she cannot go another day with his behavior, she begins to search for a new nanny and tutor for her nephew with little success.  But when she happens across an advertisement in the Times that seems to be the answer to her problem, she is set on a path that will take her where she’s never been before.  Victorian England is a place of strict social codes, and the sensual world she enters is strictly forbidden for a woman of her social stature.

Her guide in this world is a man named Kadar, and the feelings he stirs in Lily threaten to change her forever.  However, Victorian society is never far away, and her brother intends on seeing his sister remarried and settled into a home near him in Regent’s Park.  Lily will have to choose between Kadar, who makes her feel more alive than she ever believed she could and Captain Mason Danvers, the gentleman who can offer her security and comfort for the rest of her life.

Excerpt

The door closed and a mixture of aromas wafted across the room. Sweet and spicy smells filled her nose, along with other fragrances she couldn’t place at first. The variety was pleasantly overwhelming, and she breathed in deeply trying experience each of them.

She sensed him sitting in front of her, but she remained still as he’d ordered. Her fear had faded, and now she waited for him to hand her a plate and fork to eat the delicious food he’d kindly prepared for her.

“Lily, have you ever been fed by a man who wants to make love to you?”

The effect of his frank words left her speechless, and she merely shook her head. Was he going to feed her before they made love? Just the thought of it was more erotic than anything she’d ever heard of, let alone done.

“Open your mouth,” he said in his softly commanding tone that made her wish they were already finished with the meal and moved on to what was to follow.

She obeyed and tasted something sweet on her tongue. A wedge of orange exploded juice into her mouth as she bit into it. When she’d finished, his lips pressed against hers, and he kissed her, slipping his tongue into her mouth and tasting the remaining juice from the fruit.

As he pulled away, he whispered against her lips, “Delicious.”

She heard him open something, possibly a jar, and then he returned to her and ordered her to open her mouth again. When she did, he stuck his finger in and she closed her lips to suck sweet honey from it. Never before had honey tasted so incredibly good! Aroused, she playfully flicked her tongue against his fingertip as he slowly withdrew his cleaned finger.

Lily licked her lips and waited for the next taste she’d experience, but as she sat there, she realized she’d never learned the name of the man who was feeding her and soon would be inside her.

“What’s your name?”

She heard him stop what he was doing next to her, and for a tense moment, she worried she’d done something wrong by asking.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to…” she began, but let her voice trail off when she felt his lips brush the shell of her ear and his hand encircle her neck.

“Kadar.”

As his hand glided down her neck to rest on her collarbone, she said, “Kadar,” repeating his name as if to seal it in her memory.

Again, he kissed her, his tongue sensually gliding over hers and tasting the sweetness he’d just given her. His kiss, long and passionate, tasted better than any food she’d ever eaten.

He pulled away too soon, and she wished he would end his feeding her and proceed to making love to her. When he began to speak again, she sensed he saw the disappointment on her face.

“When a man truly makes love to a woman, it’s more than just thrusting his cock in and out of her, Lily. To truly make love to her, he needs to show her he can take care of her every need.”

As he spoke, his fingers lightly caressed her cheek below the blindfold. Leaning in to kiss her, he reassured her, “When I finally make love to you, every other need will have been met.”

Lily wasn’t sure how much more she could handle. Every touch, every kiss increased her arousal, as evidenced by the growing dampness between her legs. She was glad for a respite when he began asking her questions about herself.

“Tell me about your life, Lily.”

Hesitantly at first, she began to explain how she’s been married young but happily for just a few short years before her husband was taken by cholera. Overcome by emotion, both from memories of Jeremy and the sweet assault on her senses by Kadar, she began to cry.

“I’m sorry. I should be past crying by now,” she said as she lowered her chin to her chest. She may not have been able to see him, but she was sure he was watching her and she didn’t want him to see her face.

Silently, he lifted her chin and forced her to face him. Then, very tenderly, he kissed where her tears had fallen on her cheeks but said nothing about her sadness.

“Drink,” he ordered as he put a china cup to her lips and tipped it toward her. Slowly, she tasted a very strong tea and its warmth as it flowed down her throat eased her.

“Thank you. That’s quite delicious. What kind of tea is it?”

“Chai. It’s served black with cardamom. Did you taste that?”

“I thought it was cinnamon.”

“No, cardamom is sweeter with a spiciness. Like many great things, it’s a mixture of danger and comfort. Like the love I intend to give you.”

Lily’s eyes grew wide behind the blindfold. So now they’d move on to the lovemaking like she’d had with Jeremy. But his description of love sounded nothing like what she’d done as a wife. There’d been no danger of any sort then.

Tensing, she waited for him to begin, almost afraid of the danger he’d mentioned but desperate for him to ease the ache inside her. But instead of undressing her, she felt his fingers at her mouth ready to feed her again.

“What I’m feeding you now is called Qabili Palau. It’s raisins, carrots, and lamb with brown rice. Let it sit on your tongue a few moments before you begin chewing.”

Lily did as he said and let the flavors of each ingredient dance over her taste buds before she finished the helping he’d given her. Each individual taste exploded into her mouth in a mixture just as delicious as the previous flavors but distinctly foreign tasting.

Guest Author: Gabrielle Bisset

Today I have the lovely Gabrielle Bisset here with me on my blog. I caught up with Gabrielle and managed to ask her a few questions.

When did you first decide to become an author and what inspired you to write your first story?
I’ve been writing for years, but I guess the conscious decision to become an author came just a few years ago. I’ve written many stories before Stolen Destiny, but what inspired me to write that story was a dream. I don’t think I’d ever had such a vivid dream, and when I woke up the next morning, I knew I had to write everything I could remember down. I did and those details were the beginning of the Destined Ones series, of which Stolen Destiny is the first book.

How have you found your journey so far as an author?
My journey as an author has been an interesting one. For me, the joy is in the writing. That’s never been better. As many before have mentioned, I’m sure, it’s the business end of the author’s life that’s the work. I went with a publisher for my first book, but I’ll be indie publishing my stories after that. I’ve found the indie publishing world to be so enjoyable. It’s a lot of responsibility, but it’s so much fun. I love having the choices to make and knowing they’re all mine to tackle.

Your new release, Stolen Destiny, is a paranormal romance. What drew you to the genre and why do you like writing it?
I love paranormal romance because it combines love and the fantastic. It’s a genre that allows me to write characters who can do supernatural things while still giving me the opportunity to write romance.

Can you tell my readers a little about Stolen Destiny?
Stolen Destiny is the story of Varek Leale and Callia Reynolds. As Aeveren, they have been blessed with the gifts of reincarnation and destined ones. But Varek has spent lifetimes in Nil, Aeveren prison, for murdering his first destined one in a crime of passion, and he fears hurting Callia this time around. For her part, Callia is somewhat naive because Varek is her first destined one but strong, so she fights for the relationship to grow, even as he’s telling her to forget him and use her free will to turn away from their destiny. Varek has been released by the Council to find a murderer who’s killing Aeveren parents, and he has the additional problem of having to solve the crimes before he’s allowed to stay with Callia because if he doesn’t, he’ll have to return to Nil. And things get even more difficult for the two when they have to enlist the help of one of the most powerful Aeveren to ever live, Amon Kalins. As an ancient Aeveren in his 47th lifetime, he possesses enormous powers, including the ability to manipulate time, and he wants Callia.

Stolen Destiny is also the first book in a series. What can you tell us about the series? Do you have other books planned for it?
The Destined Ones series is about Aeveren, a race of people who come from the Archangel Raziel. He blessed them with three gifts: reincarnation, destined ones, and powers. However, just as with human beings, some Aeveren are more powerful than others who have little or no special abilities. The most powerful Aeveren possess powers such as teleportation, telepathy, time travel, and even mind control. Others have heightened senses but little more. When it comes to love, Aeveren are paired with another who is destined for them, but often the interference of others, particularly those fellow Aeveren who are more powerful, makes romance difficult. The second book in the Destined Ones series, Destiny Redeemed, will be indie published in September and I hope to have the third book in the series out late this year.

What else are you working on at the moment and what releases do you have coming up?
Currently, I’m working on the third novella in a trilogy that are all set in Victorian England. The first novella, Vampire Dreams, is a paranormal romance out now. The second, Love’s Master, is an historical romance with some light BDSM and is scheduled for release in mid July. The third novella, currently without a title, is another historical romance, and I plan to release that in August. I intend on combining them into one book in late fall and in that form they’ll be available in paperback. As for the Destined Ones series, I’m working on the third book, tentatively entitled Destiny Unbound, which I hope to have released by the end of this year.

When you sit down to write, do you have a specific routine you go through? Is there anything you always have to do before writing, like finding a quiet place, grabbing a cup of coffee, or turning on some music?
I hand write everything before I type it, so I always have pen and paper when I sit down, in addition to a large glass of iced tea. I also have to be listening to music when I write–usually the 70s channel on Sirius radio. And I tend to only write at night, except for Saturdays, when I write all day.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?
I am definitely a plotter, particularly with my novellas. With the novel length books, I usually begin writing with an idea in mind and by the 7th or 8th chapter I begin to outline what will happen until the end. With the novellas, however, I’m very much an outliner before I even begin the story.

When you’re not writing, what sort of books do you enjoy reading, and what else do you indulge in as a past time or way of relaxing?
I love to read romance, particularly paranormal and historical. They just work for me. I also like mysteries. When I’m not reading, I love to watch movies or work in my garden. The more time I can spend outside, the better.

And finally, which character you’ve written is your favourite and why? And which character is most like you?
This is so difficult! I love Varek from Stolen Destiny, even more since I had to defend him so much to get him published as I truly envisioned him. He’s a good soul who made one very big mistake, so the softie in me loves him for that. Amon, also from Stolen Destiny, was so incredibly fun to write, though. He’s bad and so very smooth, so there’s very much something about him as the bad boy to love, especially when you see him in his story, Destiny Redeemed. I think I fall in love with every male hero I write, to be honest. And which character is most like me? I think the answer would have to be Lily from Love’s Master because she’s a strong-willed woman who likes an even stronger man.

Stolen Destiny
Gabrielle Bisset

Released from Nil to find a murderer, a prison-hardened Varek Leale is convinced no woman deserves the man he’s become, but his Aeveren destiny makes him succumb to sweet and sexy Callia Reynolds. To catch the murderer, they turn to Amon Kalins, an ancient Aeveren with the power to control time. But Amon isn’t a man to trifle with and when he wants something, he’ll use his considerable powers, devastating charm, and good looks to get it.

What Amon wants is Callia. When he manipulates time and seduces Callia away, Varek must turn to the people who set him free for help to get her back. But the Council doesn’t do anything without requiring something in return, and what they want is Amon Kalins, one of the most powerful Aeveren ever. Varek will do what he must to capture him and find Callia because if he doesn’t, she’ll be lost to him for untold lifetimes.

Author Biography
College history professor by day, Gabrielle Bisset spends her nights and weekends writing erotic romance. An avid reader since childhood, she read her first romance novel before she’d entered high school and was hooked. Every step of the way since, through college and grad school, moving to Europe, marrying and having children, romance novels were with her. In addition to a love of reading, Gabrielle loved writing. After a humble start with her high school newspaper, she continued to write in college and grad school, enjoying the erotic romances she wrote far more than the research papers she was assigned. A desire to eat and have a roof over her head led to a teaching job, but the desire to write never went away.

Her first novel, Stolen Destiny, will be released by Siren Publishing on June 29, 2011. In addition, her trilogy of erotic novellas set in Victorian England will be released summer 2011. The first novella, Vampire Dreams, will be published on June 10, with the second novella, Love’s Master, and the third novella, Masquerade, out in July and August.

ENJOY THIS EXCERPT:

Wood snapped. A baby cried. Mihai couldn’t wait. A kick to the door weakened the hinges. With another kick, the door snapped open. Mihai rushed in, gun drawn. Viktor had a knife to Alina’s neck. Michael was in her arms.

“Come to kill me, Mihai?” Viktor’s voice was cold, devoid of emotion.

Mihai froze near the door. He didn’t have a good shot of Viktor with Alina next to him. His shirt was open showing a glistening stone around his neck. A sapphire. Damn. The thing would protect him against poisoning and Mihai was counting on using his silver bullets.

“If I have to.”

Viktor’s eerie laugh stabbed at Mihai’s heart. “I’m your friend — your sister’s husband. You wouldn’t kill me. Now put the gun down.”

“Let Alina and Michael go.”

“Drop the gun.”

Mihai stooped, placing the gun on the ground. Alina’s gaze darted to the table. There were several powders and vials spread out haphazardly. Did she mean for him to use them? He sensed fear rising within her.

“I have no intention of letting them go. Now, you’re going to let me walk out of here.”

Mihai pursed his lips. Alina’s gaze once again went to the table. She must want him to use the powder.

Viktor pushed Alina forward. Michael cried.

“Stay where you are, Mihai.” Viktor turned to look at his companion. “Alina, shut the baby up.”

That was the split second Mihai needed. He lunged, grabbed a handful of the powder, and flung it at Viktor. It stung Alina’s eyes as well. They both coughed and wheezed. Viktor released her. She grabbed the sapphire around his neck and yanked on the chain. The stone fell to the floor. Alina collapsed, falling to her knees and looked at Viktor. Mihai felt a rush of energy fly past them.

“Wisps of buckthorn speak true, blind the beast, his heart impure, bring sight to the man whose aim is just and right and good.”

A spell! Viktor dropped the knife. Mihai grabbed Viktor’s wrists. This was his chance now that the pendant was off.

“King Mihai!”

Mihai glanced at the door, taking his attention off Viktor. Sergeant Ceseanu.

“Take Alina and Michael to safety! Now!” Mihai yelled.

Sergeant Ceseanu rushed to Alina’s side, helped her to her feet, and pushed her out the door, Michael still in her arms. Viktor shoved Mihai against the wall of the room. Damn, he was strong! Mihai did not
have Viktor’s strength, but he did have his wits.

“You’re weak, Mihai.”

Mihai brought his leg up, striking Viktor near his groin. Viktor tumbled backward. His former friend may be strong, but Mihai could channel energy.

Viktor caught his balance and lunged at Mihai again, tackling him. They fell to the floor, tumbling over each other. Viktor’s fist connected with Mihai’s ribs. Pain seared through him. Mihai had to end this — and quickly.

EXCERPT

Zane stood firm for a moment and looked at Stella. The soft yellow rays from the porch light cast her in an ethereal glow. Stella Campbell sure was pretty with her wild dark auburn locks and gorgeous green eyes. Still, the sorrow that lurked in those jade orbs touched him. God, he hoped he could help her.

Still, when their gazes met, there was no denying the pop of electricity between them and despite the pleasant warmth that spread across his body and  reminded him he was a man, he knew better than to make her more than just a client. He reined in his physical reaction and took a step back, ready to  escape. ” Seven a.m. too early?”

The question went unanswered at the sound of spinning gravel and the beams from a set of headlights cut through the canopy of darkness. He turned. A  police car pulled to a stop beside his pick-up. Zane slid Stella a glance. Her face had gone white; even her soft, pouty mouth seemed to blanch. This time  when he reached out and placed what he hoped was a reassuring hand on the small of her back, she didn’t pull away from the contact. In fact, she leaned  into him and damn it, he liked it.
His heart kicked up a notch and a protective heat encased him. Yep, there was no denying it. He was here for her and judging by the way she shook at the  officer’s approach, she was more of a wreck than he imagined.

A portly cop rounded the car. His large belly hung over his gun belt, hiding the buckle from all except those with supernatural, x-ray vision. “Evenin'” the officer said, his pudgy face tinged red with the effort it took to climb the stairs. Silverton’s finest certainly needed to lay off the Moon Pies and  R.C. Colas.

“Evening,” Zane said, sliding his arm around Stella’s waist, savoring the feel of the trim arc beneath his hand.

“Officer Lankford,” Stella said, her voice quaking. “What can I do for you?”

Lankford ran stubby fingers through his graying hair. “Sorry about Ms. Lou,” he said eyeing the house.

“Thank you,” she managed and looked away. Was that shame he sensed? Silence echoed through the still evening air.

“Is there a problem?” Zane asked, hoping to ease the tension that racked her soft, curvy body. Damn it, he needed to stop.

“Not really,” Lankford remarked shifting his weight on stout legs. “There’s just been a rash of-” He looked over his shoulder as if he feared the shadows in  the nearby woods listened to his every word. “…a rash of animal sacrifices.”

At Stella’s sharp intake of breath, Zane glanced her way. If possible her face grew paler, her skin almost transparent. “A-Animal sacrifices?” Her voice was  weak and her fear apparent by the trembling of her delicate jaw.

“Yes. I wanted to advise you that what with the solstice and all coming up, you know them silly kids pretending to be pagans and devil worshippers…well,  you might want to keep your eyes peeled.”

She nodded. “Are they happening here? On Lou’s property?”

“Nope, but real close.” He pointed south. “Over by Paulson’s farm.”

“Oh, that is close,” she whispered.

“What sort of sacrifice? Cat, dog?” Zane asked. He glanced at Stella and saw by her expression she thought he was a freakin’ ghoul. The truth was you  could tell a lot about a devil worshipper by the animal he chose. God, he hoped Lankford didn’t say goat.

“Some chickens, a cow, but mostly goats.”

“Damn,” Zane mumbled.

“Those poor animals,” Stella said, her hand coming to rest on her chest.

Lankford nodded. “Well, just wanted to give you a heads up. Call dispatch if you see anything at all strange, all right? And Ms. Campbell, try not to get into  any trouble.”

“Oh, yeah. Okay,” she replied but her words sounded weak, her breathing heavy. The warning apparently lost on her as she stared past the fat cop and  toward the direction of Paulson’s farm.

“Good.” The officer tilted his head toward them and ambled off leaving Zane to wonder just what sort of evil had brought him to this place.

Excerpt
“Oh. But why… ?”

“Why did she seek you out?” Vin let go of the reins, and the horse went down on all fours. She laid her head in Noreen’s lap. Noreen reared back, startled by the unicorn’s forward behavior. Vin stared down at them both. The stovepipe hat made him appear taller, larger than life.

“Unicorns are drawn to virgins.”

Warmth flooded her skin. He never ceased to surprise her with his blunt words. “A gentleman would never talk of such things to a lady whom he has just met.”

“And there you make your first mistake. I come from a different realm where etiquette and cultural differences abound. Sex is as natural as breathing. Love, however, is a rare and bonding element. Never confuse the two.”

She ignored the turn of the conversation and redirected it. “Will she let me stand? I feel at a disadvantage while I look up at you.”

He tugged on Kirin’s reins. The unicorn tore its gaze from hers. After some coaxing, Vin managed to pull her away from Noreen’s lap. Straw poked at her shins. Noreen braced her hands upon the wooden slats on either side of the stall and pulled herself up. Vin had his hands full trying to restrain the unicorn or else he probably would have lent her a hand. She felt grateful his mind was occupied elsewhere. With all the talk of virgins and sex, she didn’t feel up to having his hands upon her person.

Once she stood, he let go of the reins, and Kirin rested her muzzle upon Noreen’s shoulder. She smiled. The unicorn acted as stubborn as some humans she knew. She stroked Kirin’s nose, enjoying the velvety texture of her hide.

“You could command anything of her at this moment, and she would grant your wish if it were in her power to do so.”

Her gaze snapped to his. The soft glow of a lantern illuminated his harsh features. As tall and handsome as he was, he would turn many a head. She swallowed hard. He stood proud and confident; a master of illusion to make her think him so handsome. “Could I command her to reverse time?”

“You could, but it would gain you nothing.” He edged nearer. “It was your destiny to find the diary.”

She licked her lips and pressed her back against the railing. “She doesn’t look like the unicorns I’ve seen in books.”

“The golden horn that marks her as unicorn disappears while she serves me in the human realm. Unfortunately, she still maintains her cloven feet and a body style not quite that of a horse.” He took another step. “Kirin is most generous of heart.”

“Don’t come any closer, Vin.”

“You don’t appreciate being backed into a corner? Nor do I.”

“When have I backed you into a corner?”

“You don’t know, do you?” He took another step forward.

She shook her head. His gaze held her captive. Her heart accelerated, and her palms became moist.

He pulled a rose from his lapel and tucked it behind her ear. “You make me feel things I have no wish to feel.”

Her back pressed against the rough wood. She was truly trapped. Screaming would serve no purpose. Nor did she want to scream. Something hypnotic kept her pinned in place.

He removed his hat and bent his head. The scent of rose and hay hung heavy in the air. Warm breath teased her neck. Did he mean to kiss her?

He growled. “This is not what I want.”

“You want Beletania’s diary. I’ll—I’ll fetch it, if you but give me a moment.”

He braced his hands on either side of her head. “The book be damned. No—I think it’s too late for that. I want more than the book.”

“Please.” What did she beg for? Release or his firm lips upon her own?

He dropped his hat to the ground and moved with a quickness that startled her. Before she realized his intent, his hand cupped her cheek. His touch was enough to awaken all sorts of forbidden feelings. She leaned into his palm, hoping he would kiss her and hoping he would not.

Guest Blogger – Raine Delight – Series vs. non-series books

Today the always lovely Raine Delight has come back to tell us more about her Devon Falls Series and writing.

I got a question from a reader the other day asking why do I write series books. Well that question stopped me in my tracks a bit. I never thought I would write series books but somehow, someway, my muse decided to run with it and today, I have one series with another on the way.

What do I love about writing series books? The chance to revisit beloved characters, the chance to explore the world I created more and to see what else will come to the muse to write about. There is no one thing that draws me to series books but the chance to see what else I can explore is a certain draw in MHO. I love seeing where my imagination can take me-from shifters, dream walkers to demons and more. The sky is the limit in my eyes.

Devon Falls was my first series of novellas and one I am particularly proud of. Originally to be only two books, it morphed into more than ten books once I settled down and saw where the muse was going. I was flabbergasted-ten books! I almost fainted but with four founding families to cover, it added up. I currently have four of the books available at Aspen Mountain Press, with two more coming in 2010 (Moonlight & Magic and Yuletide Magic) then I am taking a break for the beginning of 2011 to concentrate on a new series I am creating then back to finish it off late 2011-early 2012. *wipes brow* that is a lot of books, if I say so myself.

Next up is a new series, one I am enjoying immensely. Club Fantasy is a paranormal BDSM club run by a half-demon of lust and his lover. I am aiming for this to be a trilogy at first but then we can see what happens after that. Who doesn’t love demons, romance, bdsm aspects? I know I do. *grins*

This isn’t to say I don’t enjoy writing non-series books. I currently have one out at Aspen Mountain Press called Fairy Kisses and Magical Dreams-about a Fae Prince searching for his mate except when he finds her, she is human and that is not allowed. Another is an upcoming paranormal romantic comedy called Falling to Pieces coming to The Wild Horse Press. A heroine finds herself saving the hero and in the process falling in love. Loads of laughs, fun and non-erotic as well. Something that I kicked around with a friend and it morphed into this one wild, zany ride.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for me. I have other ideas for books (Space pirates anyone?) and who knows, maybe they will morph into a series as well. In the meantime, I read some wonderful series from talented authors (Yasmine Galenorn, Deborah Cooke, Jenna Black, JD Robb, etc) and settle in for my own personal reading pleasure while I recharge the muse.

My questions to you- What series to do you enjoy reading and why? Are there any out there you want to recommend?

NOTE: This was first in the Babes in Toyland II anthology also available.

Blurb:
A chance meeting at a sweet shop…Can it be love?

When a stranger stops in at her shop, Jenna is surprised by the immediate attraction.  Apparently, Marc is too because he wants to get to know Jenna.  A whole lot better and won’t take no for an answer.

Excerpt:
Jenna wiped her sweaty hands on her jeans and cleared her throat. “Do you mind locking up tonight for a change? I think I may have a date.” Gulping, she waited to hear if Raven would do this one favor for her.

Grinning widely now, Raven replied, “Cheri, if the look on your face is anything, I will lock up for the next week if it gets you out of the house! Go, have fun and enjoy yourself! And remember; tell me all the details if you get some wild kinky monkey sex!”

She watched as her friend peered around Jenna and into the store. “Wow girlfriend, when you wish for something, you got good taste! He is like a double dipped cone that makes you want to savor every last lick!”

“Will you stop drooling in the fudge, Raven? It will be ruined and we’ll have to start from scratch. I am still awed at how he came into this candy shop for his present. Then again, I am not sure after today he won’t want to come back or go out.”

Dismal thoughts crowded Jenna’s brain as she thought of Marc’s invitation. She didn’t know what to make of it and hoped she didn’t make a mistake in accepting. Blowing out a puff of air, she ran a hand down her jeans and hoped she looked alright. “Okay Raven, I’m off for the night. Don’t stay late. I know you have that hot date with Mr. Exotic at the Dragon Inn for drinks. Though how you can go you with some one with that name is one question you have to answer for me one day.”

Sighing, Jenna turned and just before going through the door, she heard Raven call her. “Cheri, have fun. Forget your assumptions—he may be the one man you’re looking for.”

Waving goodbye, she was startled to see Marc looking at candy cane display, still in the shop. It was as if her imagination conjured him up all over again. Jenna watched in appreciation at the way his leg muscles flexed in the tightness of his pants and enhanced his drool worthy ass; all tight and firm. What it would be like to hang on to that as he slid his hard cock into her tight wet hole.

God, I am turning into a nymphomaniac just looking at him. Get a grip Jenna. He’s just a man, though what a fine figure of a man he is and you’re only going for coffee, not wild, kinky monkey sex like Raven suggested!

Raine Delight – Devon Falls Series – Guest Blogger

I have the lovely Raine Delight with me again today, this time talking about her ongoing Devon Falls series. So without further ado…

Welcome to Devon Falls, a little town that loves paranormal and romance. I created Devon Falls as a town where love and fate collide with paranormal creatures that we read about daily. From shifters of all kinds to dream walkers, all paranormal are welcome in Devon Falls. When I began writing about Devon Falls, I was never anticipating the response readers gave me overall on it. They clamored for more books on the people there and many have said they want to know where it is to visit. *grins* Hate to say it, Devon Falls is all my imagination but the people there welcome you whenever you open one of the books.

The official introduction to Devon Falls found in most of the books in the beginning is this:

Welcome to Devon Falls, founded in 1784 by the four founding families with one goal: to find a place where they can live without the threat of their “special” gifts coming to light. The Stevens families were master bakers from France and had an affinity to magic, the Dracon families ran a hotel in London and were shape shifters of varying degrees, Sinclair family mastered the art of building in Germany and were able to dream walk, and the Craven family were master musicians from Russia and were able to manipulate the elements. Each family contributed something different and with each family’s gift, they soon found the freedom and contentment in the new town they called Devon Falls. As the years went by, each family grew and expanded and soon love gave way to some very special matches every few centuries. Now the time has come again in Devon Falls as this year some very special people find their path to love, passion and a blinding romance that will leave them breathless.

Welcome to Devon Falls and be amazed at the love that finds some of the most unlikely of people.

Each Devon Falls book except the last one is centered on a holiday. The books are stand alone but loosely connected either thru plot or characters. I recommend reading them in order to understand recurring characters and how they are entwined with each other. I also decided that each book gives a little hint of what the next one may be about main character wise. *grins* I want readers’ to try to figure out who may be in the “hot seat” next.

The series goes as follows:
Sticky Magic (Book 1) ~ Christmas Theme (Main Characters- Jenna Stevens and Marc Du Bree)
Red Hot Magic (Book 2) ~ Valentine’s Day (Main Characters: Raven Demarco & Jean-Claude LaFever)
Fiery Magic (Book 3) ~ 4th of July (Main Characters- Alicia Stevens and Damien Dracon)
Haunting Magic (Book 4) ~ Halloween (Main Character-Jaxon Sinclair and Rodrick Dracon)

Upcoming Devon Falls books:
Moonlight & Magic – Valentine’s Day (Main Characters- Dixie Stevens and Michael Barnes) Release TBD
Yuletide Magic -Winter Solstice/Christmas (Main Characters: Grady O’Neil and Mandy Alexander) Release date TBA
Elemental Magic Trilogy will finally end the series with a total of 10 books in total. We will meet the elemental mage family, The Cravens, in Moonlight & Magic and Yuletide Magic. I anticipate these will be out in 2012 and suggest you follow my blog or facebook page to get sneak peeks and other news on my work.

All of Devon Falls books are through Aspen Mountain Press and you can find them at Amazon Kindle, All Romance Ebooks, 1PlaceforRomance (formerly 1romance) and Fictionwise.

Charisma Knight – Guest Blogger

Today I have the lovely Charisma Knight here with me on my blog, and she’s come to share a excerpt of her rather sexy Halloween story…

This post is rated over 18s only!

My Dark Lord and Master (a part of XoXo Publishing’s Halloween Volume 1 Anthology)
Ever wonder what dreams and fantasies are made of? Some believe one mirrors the other. Perhaps a fantasy is based upon a dream you had one restless night. Maybe a dream, once a fantasy has presented itself to you in the form of a half man, half beast, conjured by the darkest depths of your imagination.

Once manifestation has occurred, how will you react when your dark Lord and Master projects you into his domain, placing his mark upon you for all eternity? When it is all said and done, would you regret the strong power of imagination?

Excerpt:
I imagine your voice as a sexy whisper, with heated breath against my neck as you ask, “Will you be my submissive?”

“Oh, fuck yeah!” I scream in my aroused state.

Now I have totally relinquished any self-control I thought I possessed, early on before I came to know you in this way. Is it so easy to believe how this fierce imagination of mine has me panting with desire for you? This hellish infatuation has entombed my mortal soul.

“Yes, I will be your submissive, Master,” I say, with a quivering voice. “Take these cuffs and chains, and bind me. Spread me wide on your bed, and take it all—take everything I offer so freely to you, for in these brief moments during the day, I belong to you.”

“Are you sure?” You ask, as lust fills your eyes. “For once we travel down this path, there is no return. Do you understand love?”

“Yes, my dark, handsome master from across the sea. Take me, I beg of thee, take me and do what you will.”

I close my eyes and wish—wish, pray, and plead until my dark master appears to me, not just as a spirit but as a flesh and blood man. The power of my darkest desires is enough to summon him.

Now, you are here and you tower above me. Without a word you take me in your strong embrace, carrying me a thousand miles from my homeland. Over the shores made of gold and sea of turquoise blue, we fly over the Serbian mountains. My life flashes before my eyes, and for now, we are the only beings existing in this world.

My eyes close long enough to be surprised when I open them again in time to see a huge four-post bed. Gently, you lay me onto the soft fur pelts.

I want to escape, but I don’t ever want be free and I know I have given my consent to anything my master wishes to do to me. You give me a smile, exciting me while turning my blood ice cold. I shudder as your large hands pull at the sheer silk fabric of my dress and within seconds you have stripped me naked before you.

I quiver with desire as you run your fingers over my stiff nipples and twist each one. God, you know I want you to suck on them and you don’t disappoint, you never do.

Moans escape my lips as your mouth and teeth explore my diamond hard nubs. You run a finger across my labia and your dark smile deepens at the wetness you have provoked.

With an urgent move, you push me back onto the bed. My breathing is shallow and erratic. From nowhere you produce a length of thick black rope and I struggle in vain, even though I know you are too strong and my resistance would be for naught.

Laughing, a deep, dark laugh, you spread me wide on the bed so I’m helpless and vulnerable to you.

“Master, please.” The words are mangled, and anticipation possesses me like a dark veil. I grit my teeth and my breathing is labored as I feel the heat of your hands.

“There will be no begging tonight. You are mine, at last.” A maniacal laugh fills me with dread, and a strong desire I cannot comprehend. My eyes are glued to you as you begin to undress.

“Master.” I murmur once more.

You place a lone finger against sensuous lips and say; “Shhh. Speak no more woman.” A shiver runs down my spine, because I could have sworn I saw flames dancing in your dark eyes.

Charisma Knight lives in the Maryland area with her darling daughters and her overactive imagination. Her love for vampires prompted her to pursue writing in March 2009.

Vampires are her first love. Werewolves, ghosts, and dragons follow close behind. She writes of old or “cursed” souls who are reincarnated over the sands of time. Quite often these souls must atone for past sins they care not to remember before fulfilling their destinies.

Her stories contain an erotic wild edge with a little fantasy sprinkled within. On occasion, one will discover some stories deal with real life situations. There are certain trials and tribulations everyone faces while walking down that cobblestone road called life. Charisma enjoys writing about how her characters triumph over the hurdles in their existence.
