Snippet Saturday – Circle in the Sand – Excerpt from Her Demonic Angel (Her Angel Romance Series Book 5)

It’s time for Snippet Saturday! Each week has a theme or is author’s choice. This week the theme is Circle in the Sand – featuring warm weather / the great outdoors.

This week the snippet is from the fifth book in my Her Angel romance series, Her Demonic Angel.

Erin walked the shore hand in hand with Veiron. She had wanted to go straight back to their villa and make love with him but he had insisted that they walked a while, and while she had been annoyed at first, she was glad that he had suggested it. It was strangely peaceful on the empty beach under the moonlight, Veironâ€™s fingers locked tightly with hers, his large hand engulfing her smaller one and keeping the chill off her skin. Palms fringed the sweeping shore and the warm water washed over her feet, the sound of the shallow waves steadily puncturing the near silence. The noise of people at the complex was nothing but a distant hum this far along the beach. The only competition the waves had was the occasional party at one of the villas and they had left the last of them behind a few metres back.

A breeze blew in off the ocean, carrying the scent of saltwater, and Erin shivered.

Veiron stopped, untangled their hands, and wrapped his strong arm around her, pulling her against his bare chest. Erin snuggled into him and looked up, meeting his gaze. His eyes were black in the moonlight but not dark. They were warm and soft, full of feelings that she felt mirrored in her own heart.

She lifted her hand and cupped his cheek, sweeping her thumb over his lower lip. She wanted to tell him again to be careful when he went to Hell but couldnâ€™t find her voice, didnâ€™t want to spoil this moment between them. It wouldnâ€™t be their last. Nothing would happen to Veiron. Marcus would go with him and together they would be safe.

Erin kissed him instead, tiptoeing and gently capturing his lips. She kept it light, bare brushes of her lips against his, her emotions running wild with her. Veiron surprised her by doing the same, sweeping his mouth over hers and holding her close to him, his hands gentle against her back.

He drew away, breathing hard as though he had run for miles rather than stood still on a beach and kissed her. She was breathless too, alive with emotion and warmth, with all of her feelings for Veiron.

â€œI keep thinking about something,â€ he said and he sounded so serious that she pulled further away so she could see his face. He smiled wickedly. â€œHot tub.â€

WIP Wednesday – Her Wicked Angel with new sneak peek and other book news

I’m still working on the next Her Angel romance series book, HER WICKED ANGEL.

I didn’t manage to get the book completed in first draft before I went on holiday to Italy. I took it with me on my Kindle though, and after reading a couple of books by another author, I began reading it over to reacquaint myself with the novel. I finished reading it on Tuesday morning and I’m very pleased with it so far. I’ve just sent over the first 30,000 words of it to some beta readers to see what they think of it and get working with them on it.

The turnaround on this novel is pretty tight but I’m hoping that I can get it out in September / October this year. I had wanted it out at the start of September, but due to the funk I was in for the first part of the year (and I’m still struggling to shake), it’s going to end up pushed back or it will turn into a rush job and I hate rushing my work. You guys deserve the best quality read I can give, and that means I need to do things right and take my time with the editing and proofreading of the book.

I’m hoping that I can get the book completed next week, and then it will have to rest for a period before I can begin editing it. Having read over the first 110,000 words of the novel, I know it’s in very good shape already and just needs some minor work to boost the description in places, up the tension and drama, and inject more of that emotion I love pumping into my books.

I’m not sure what I will be writing once I have a break from Her Wicked Angel. I’m debating whether to begin work on editing the first Eternal Mates book, or work on the next Vampires Realm book. It’s hard to say which it will be. I should write another Vampires Realm book, but my heart isn’t in it right now. My muse wants me to write new series and new worlds, and I think that’s because I’m concerned that at 10 books, the Vampires Realm series has become too big for many readers’ tastes, and it puts them off reading it… even though it’s a series where the majority of the books work as stand alone novels. It always makes me sad when I have to make the tough decisions – writing what will get sales and new readers versus writing what I would love to write in an ideal world where I didn’t need to pay bills, feed myself, my cat and other things. I don’t think it helps that I feel I should write the next Vampires Realm book. Whenever I feel pressurised into writing a book, my muse instantly clams up and gives me hell. Maybe I can fool him into cooperating by reading over the notes for the book and pretending that my schedule really isn’t that bad that if I write another book from scratch, as opposed to editing one I already have written, I probably won’t have another release after Her Wicked Angel this year.

Aurora scooted away from him and off the bed. Snow sat up and tried to catch her arm before she could distance herself any further, wanting to finish what she had started even when he knew he shouldnâ€™t.

She stared at him, her eyes wild with the panic he could feel in her emotions and the frantic beat of her heart, overshadowing the lingering trace of her desire, and then bolted for the door. She was out of it before he could get the covers off him.

Snow growled, hit the floor running, and gave chase. The lights were on in the black-walled corridor. His gaze sought her, his head whipping to his left. She had already reached the end of the hallway. Rather than heading down the staircase, she went up another one further back in the corridor. The roof. She intended to fly away from him.

He damned well wouldnâ€™t let her.

He refused to let her run from her feelings any longer.

He sprinted after her, bare feet landing heavily with each long stride, and took the stairs two at a time, following them upwards.

â€œAurora,â€ he called out but she didnâ€™t slow. She kept running into the darkness ahead of him, her small feet making no sound on the steps. Her wings hadnâ€™t made an appearance yet. Was that a good sign?

Snow couldnâ€™t take comfort from it. She was still running from him after all. She intended to leave him again and he feared he would never see her again if he let her get away.

She hit the storage level at the very top of the theatre and kept going.

â€œAurora.â€ Snow tried again, hoping she would listen to him this time. â€œDo not run from me.â€

Not only because he wanted her to stay.

Future Paranormal Romance Book Releases News

This is a new feature for my blog and only my second post on the topic. I get emails, Facebook comments and Tweets asking me about whether or not certain series will get another book, when Iâ€™ll be releasing a certainÂ book, and other questions related to future releases, so I wanted to try to answer all those questions on my blog before they ever come up. My blog is always the place to go to if you want to know what Iâ€™m working on, as I blog regularly about my writing and my future releases here.

The questions Iâ€™m getting asked the most right now are variations on the theme ofâ€¦

Is there going to be another book in the Her Angel series and when will it come out?

My update on this question is that the first draft of HER WICKED ANGEL is well under way and nearing completion now. I have no definite release date for the book, but I am aiming to have it out in September/October 2013. HER DEMONIC ANGEL came out in September 2012, so it would be good to have this next novel out around the same time of year.

I really loved UNLEASH and the Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series and I’m sad to see the series end!

Fear not! I mentioned a few months back that while Unleash is the final book in the Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series, it isn’t the last time we’ll be visiting Vampirerotique or the last time I will be playing in that world. I’m currently working on the spin off series, ETERNAL MATES, which focuses on the larger world that Vampirerotique forms a very small part of. In the Eternal Mates series, we will meet new species of fae and demons, venture deeper into this huge world, and also we will catch up with the gang at Vampirerotique, and meet many more vampires too.

The Eternal Mates series will begin in 2014 with the release of the first three novels.

Will Hyperion ever find his love?

Yes, the oh-so-wicked lord of the Validus bloodline in my Vampires Realm romance series will have his romance at some future date. In the Vampires Realm time line, he is currently in the middle of his romance. It began at the end of Winter’s Kiss and then continues after Masquerade.

I have two books to write before I can write Hyperion’s romance. First up is Hunger, which is about Eve and Tor, and then I have to write Forever After, which is about Ineru and River.

When will you release the first Guardians of Hades book?

I’m hoping that I can get the first Guardians of Hades book out in 2014, and perhaps more than one book depending on my schedule. I’ll be editing the book together with the first Eternal Mates book when I’m done with Her Wicked Angel and Hunger.
