Character Biography - Tor

Tor

Turned in 1722, Tor underwent rigorous training after completing his transition, turning him into a weapon. A man capable of taking out his bloodline’s strongest enemies.

Tor has been a hunter the whole time he has been a vampire. He’s very adaptive and rolls with the times, using modern weaponry to his advantage and often employing new techniques he sees. He has hardened his heart and killed all his weaknesses, including his softer emotions.

He’s the perfect assassin. He never bends the rules, and certainly doesn’t break them. He’s efficient and effective at what he does, and has no room in his life for complications. Until he meets Eve. He is far from prepared for how the soft beautiful female who is far above his rank makes him feel and how she shakes his world to its foundations.

Preferred Weapon:
Tor is quite a modern vampire. He uses guns and other weapons, like flash bombs against vampires and vampire hunters alike. Guns just slow a vampire down but they do help. He would rather do things more easily.
Combat Skills:
He studies his targets, using every second to his advantage by stalking his prey from the shadows and rooftops, studying, learning about them and looking for a weakness, an opening he can use to slip in and dispatch them without them even being aware of him. When Tor fights, he's very technical and uses the opponents' weaknesses against them and to his advantage. He will shoot out the lights when up against human hunters and blind them by plunging them into darkness. He's a strange blend of modern and old in that respect. He tends to mix it up. He'll use modern technology to weaken his enemies and increase his chances of success, and then indulge his more savage side by fighting hand-to-hand. He fights dirty too. Will use flash bombs or cups his hands and slaps them over the ears of his foes to disorientate them. He's an assassin. Bred for the purpose of killing.
Other Skills:
Speaks Norwegian, Sami, English, Swedish, Finnish, Danish, Dutch, German, French.

Character Interview

This interview took place on April 28th 2014, at the Vehemens mansion in Oslo, Norway.

Felicity:
I have Tor here with me today to talk about his book, HUNGER. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Tor:
I was turned around three centuries ago and after my transition I began my training as a hunter for my bloodline, the Vehemens. As soon as my training was complete, I left the Oslo mansion on my first mission and have been an active hunter ever since.
Felicity:
Very concise. So you’re a hunter, meaning you deal with the enemies of your bloodline, but you weren’t sent to kill this time. It must have been strange for you. In HUNGER, you meet Eve. How did you meet and how did you feel about them initially?
Tor:
The Chosen Son of my bloodline, Lincoln, gave me a mission to bring Eve to the Vehemens mansion in Oslo. I travelled to Paris expecting it to be a simple escort mission, over in a few hours, in and out, and on with the next mission. I had seen a picture of Eve, and had been told that as a former hunter, she was not comfortable with what she had become, but none of that prepared me for the woman I met in that nightclub. Nothing about Eve was simple. *smiles* I think she turned my world on its head.
Felicity:
She certainly did. It must have been difficult for you at first.
Tor:
It was. Eve challenged me at every turn and from the moment I met her. She can be very determined and stubborn. I probably would have given in to her request for assistance if she’d had a chance to ask me outright for it, without events intervening and forcing my compliance. I want to kill anyone who has ever hurt her.
Felicity:
Ah, there’s the killer in you. I bet you make the best husband a girl could wish for. Always ready to kill any obstacle that stands in your woman’s way or inflict pain and misery upon anyone who has crossed her.
Tor:
*smiles again* What can I say? Eve calls it romantic. She likes the way I keep one hand on her hip the whole time we are around other vampires.
Felicity:
What’s not to love about a possessive man who isn’t all caveman with it? You’re probably the most alpha male I’ve met, and yet you only want to protect your woman, rather than control her. It’s magnificent. There should be more men in the world like you... or vampires in the world anyway.
Tor:
I’m not sure about that. But Eve warned me to be nice so I’ll take it as a compliment and move on. *grins*
Felicity:
Stop smiling or I might melt into a puddle. Now... how has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?
Tor:
Great. Being with Eve is... wonderful. I never realised I was missing something in my life until I met her. I had a mission and that was all I needed, and then I met Eve and all I needed was her. I’ve been training her, which is far from easy. She has a tendency to do what she wants, no matter how many times I try to instruct her otherwise, and then she wonders why she fails.
Felicity:
I think you call that stubbornness. Eve mentioned in her interview that you found a little retreat for the both of you.
Tor:
Yes. I was sent on a solo mission and after I had completed it, I still had some time left, so I travelled into the northern reaches of Norway and found a mountain cabin. Eve loves the views and the quiet. It’s peaceful there, and it’s a place we can call our own. Only we know about it. I think Eve likes having something that is just ours. Like a secret.
Felicity:
I can imagine she does since life at the family mansion must get quite hectic. Hundreds of vampires live there. I can easily picture her loving the little retreat you’ve given her. I’m going to end on something simple, although sometimes it isn’t that simple and it takes my interviewees some time to come up with an answer. Describe yourself in one word?
Tor:
Far from simple. Assassin. Killer. Lover? Alpha. Or perhaps... mate. I think everything I do these days, I do it for Eve.
Felicity:
I will let you get back to that mate of yours now. Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting.
