Character Biography - Eve

Eve

Raised by Section Seven as a vampire hunter within their ranks together with her twin sister Lilith, Eve has spent her entire life hunting and taking down demons and vampires, protecting the human population from the creatures of the night, until her partner betrayed her to a group of weakling vampires.

Due to the manipulation of her DNA that occurred during her conception, Eve woke from her death as a pureblood vampire of the Vehemens bloodline and set out on a mission of revenge, driven to serve justice to the man who betrayed her.

But her views on vampires, her feelings about herself, and her entire world are changed again when she meets Tor, the hardened vampire assassin sent to escort her to her new vampire family. He will give her the revenge she desires, and so much more.

Character Interview

This interview took place on April 28th 2014, at the Vehemens mansion in Oslo, Norway.

Felicity:
I have Eve here with me today to talk about her book, HUNGER. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Eve:
Absolutely. I was raised by Section Seven, a vampire hunting organisation, together with my twin sister, Lilith. We never knew our parents, and I think we both missed them in our lives. Don’t get me wrong. The people who raised us were wonderful, and attentive, but it wasn’t the same as having parents. Not that I knew what having parents felt like. I guess I just sort of felt I was missing something. I had Lilith though, and we were thick as thieves then, and we are again now.
Felicity:
So you were a vampire hunter together with your sister. Sounds dangerous.
Eve:
Very much so, but we had a natural gift for it that we never understood at the time. I only found out about my heritage when I was already an adult, and Lilith found out about it after me, from the vampire who is now her mate, Lincoln.
Felicity:
It sounds as if you’ve always lived your life in the dark world hidden from the eyes of most humans. It must have been frightening, although I suppose you grew up surrounded by hunters so it was probably normal to you. In HUNGER, you meet Tor. How did you meet and how did you feel about him initially?
Eve:
We met under, um, not the best of circumstances. I had been betrayed and turned vampire about five years earlier, and I really wasn’t interested in switching teams. I was raised a hunter, and it was in my blood to hate vampires, and all of a sudden I am one. When I met Tor, my vampire father...
Felicity:
Vampire father sounds intriguing. You’re saying one of your parents was actually a vampire?
Eve:
In a manner of speaking. My mother was a hunter and she used his blood, the blood of the vampire she loved, to give us his DNA. She wanted his children. I still don’t know what happened to her, but my vampire father is intent on tracking her down and discovering whether she’s alive or not. I’m hoping she’s alive, and I know Lilith is too.
Felicity:
Okay, back to what you were saying about meeting Tor?
Eve:
My father had been in contact with Lilith and Lincoln, who now run the vampire bloodline that I’m part of, and Lincoln had sent someone to escort me to Oslo, our family’s stronghold. I didn’t want to leave Paris because I was closing in on my betrayer. I wanted him to pay for what he had done to me, and then I was going to make a decision about being a vampire. We were attacked by vampires and that’s when I met Tor. The guy swept into the nightclub like a deadly shadow. I had never seen anything like him. He dealt with the vampires who had me on the defensive in barely a few minutes.
Felicity:
So he made an impression on you then?
Eve:
You could say that. And the guy is gorgeous. A beautiful assassin.
Felicity:
You’re smitten. Was it difficult to convince Tor to help you have your revenge?
Eve:
Oh, yes. I was lucky that circumstances arose that got him to listen to me. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t have been able to make him bend the rules, let alone get him to break them. He’s rather set in his ways. The guy is an assassin. He carries out his orders to the letter without question. I made him question them and break them.
Felicity:
Sounds like you changed him as much as he changed you. I think you guys were made for each other. How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?
Eve:
It’s been surprisingly good. We’re settled in Oslo, although we do spend a lot of time out of the city, either on missions or at our retreat. Tor found us a beautiful little cabin in the mountains and we go there quite often to get away from the bloodline and work, and my sister I think. She likes to give Tor a hard time. I swear she’s testing his resolve, but she’s going to be disappointed. Once he’s set his mind to something, he doesn’t change it.
Felicity:
He’s certainly set his mind on having you forever. You seem to be enjoying it though. No complaints?
Eve:
None. I get to hunt vampires still, Tor is training me to make the most out of my new abilities, and our new abilities too. It’s fun. Kinda like old times. I’m still a vampire hunter, and I’m with my sister again, and on top of that I have Tor. It feels like a miracle.
Felicity:
Don’t get all gushy on me now. Let’s wrap this up with something simple. Describe yourself in one word?
Eve:
Hunter.
Felicity:
Suits you. Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting.
