Character Biography - Olivia

Olivia

Olivia studied at a top medical school in London with the intent of becoming a doctor at one of the most prestigious hospitals in that city, but an event brought her into contact with Archangel, a demon-hunting organisation. Archangel recruited her, giving her the chance to study non-humans. She has a particular passion for studying demon and fae genetics and enjoys being able to uncover new information on known species, and documenting unknown species or those previously thought to be extinct.

She is very intelligent and inquisitive, and is fascinated by non-human species and their unique talents, appearances, and other factors. She is dedicated and once she sets her mind on something, she's like a dog with a bone. She is friendly and driven to succeed in her field.

After the man she was dating turned out to be a demon intent on using her to break into Archangel and destroy the organisation, Olivia was stripped of her rank by her superiors. That event caused her to lose some of her confidence and her ability to trust men, and non-humans in particular.

Olivia found a way to regain her status so she could continue her studies and research, and not be stuck doing blood work and research on well documented species, but it happened to come in the form of a beautiful, enchanting, and irresistibly sexy dark elf prince.

Character Interview

This interview took place on March 9th 2014, at the castle of the elf kingdom in Hell.

Felicity:
I have Olivia here with me today to talk about her book, Kissed by a Dark Prince, and also about the second book in the Eternal Mates series, Claimed by a Demon King. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Olivia:
I’m a scientist working for Archangel. *leans forwards and whispers* Archangel is the world’s leading demon-hunting organisation. Most people don’t know it, or non-humans, exist. Archangel tries to keep things that way by protecting normal people from the more dangerous species of non-humans. *sits back* My job with Archangel is primarily about research. I get to study non-human species and document everything about them. I love being able to study new species... but I haven’t been able to do that for some time since I made a bit of an error of judgement. To put it bluntly, I messed up and I paid the price.
Felicity:
It wasn’t wholly your fault though, and that one bad mistake did mean that you were around when Loren was, uh, dropped on your doorstep.
Olivia:
*laughs* I think dropped is being kind. He was dumped outside the satellite office where I was working, and he was in terrible condition. I still remember everything about the night we met and what it felt like to walk into that exam room and see him laid out on the inspection table. Part of me was sure he was a goner.
Felicity:
He survived though, and it was all thanks to you.
Olivia:
*laughs again* It was definitely all thanks to me... or, more precisely, the liberties he took with my vital fluids. Imagine what it’s like to find yourself with a chance to redeem yourself by documenting a new species, counting your lucky stars that you’re the only scientist left in the building, and being faced with a gorgeous man who looks like he’s knocking on death’s door... only to have him suddenly spring awake, and then bite you.
Felicity:
He didn’t quite spring awake and just bite you. Admit it... you were a bit bewitched by that “gorgeous man” and his somewhat nude state, a state you neglected to mention and one you were responsible for-
Olivia:
Hey! I was doing my job. I had to check him over and that meant removing his clothes.
Felicity:
I’m still fairly certain you were enjoying that part of your job a little too much. Where was I? Oh yeah. You fell for his charm and good looks. Understandable. You could have hit the alarm, but you didn’t.
Olivia:
*shrugs* You want me to say I regret it? Because I don’t. I hated him at first because of it... and I didn’t want the bonding process he accidentally triggered between us... but in the end, I’m glad everything happened exactly as it did.
Felicity:
You mentioned that his biting you triggered a bonding process between you. That’s because you’re his one true mate and his enemy knew that. Wasn’t it frightening being thrust into their millennia-old war?
Olivia:
God, yes. It was terrifying, but I wasn’t going to just give up. I’ve had my share of hard times and I’ve been through my own wars. I didn’t want the bond because it wasn’t something I had wanted... I mean, it was forced on me and I didn’t get a choice, but then neither did Loren really. He didn’t know I was his mate until days after he had bitten me. I had a choice about whether to complete the bond or not though, and at the time I wanted it broken. So did Loren. He was going to give up his mate... me... to protect me from his enemy.
Felicity:
That still leaves me with a sad sort of feeling in my heart. He had been waiting to find you for almost five thousand years and he came close to giving you up. I’m glad that you two could work it out and made it through together. How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?
Olivia:
Insane, but I couldn’t be happier. I get to continue my work for Archangel right now. I’m documenting Loren’s world, while withholding anything vital that Archangel might use against the elves, and I’m also getting to study new species in Hell, where his kingdom is. Not just the elves, and some of the demon species who trade with them, but animals and plants too. It’s fascinating.
Felicity:
I can tell that by the twinkle in your eyes. What about you and Loren though? How are you getting along?
Olivia:
Really well. I think we probably gross Bleu, his commander, and Sable, my friend at Archangel, out at times. They can’t stand it when we get a little lovey-dovey in front of them. I really found my match in Loren though. He is perfect... even if he can be a little pushy.
Felicity:
Pushy?
Olivia:
He really didn’t want me to head to the Third Realm with Sable and her team from Archangel, but my superior assigned me to her team and I wanted to be there with Loren and the elves too. Thorne helped me and I wanted to help him with his war. I wasn’t going to sit back and let Loren going to war against some demons while I twiddled my thumbs. Plus... I really didn’t want to miss the fireworks *leans forwards again* You know what I’m talking about.
Felicity:
I do. The demon king of the Third Realm you were going to help is Thorne and Thorne took one look at your friend, Sable, and knew she was his fated mate. It certainly made for an interesting adventure. Sable wasn’t exactly looking for love, and she ended up with two guys after her.
Olivia:
*laughs* No. Sable definitely wasn’t looking for love. In all the years I’ve known her, she has never been in a steady relationship. But love found her. In a way, I’m glad that it did. I get to have someone I know and love together with me on this journey into a new immortal life.
Felicity:
It must be nice knowing that you don’t have to watch your best friend grow old while you stay young. How have things been in Hell since Thorne and Sable got together?
Olivia:
Not that easy. I’m wrapped up in preparations for my wedding ceremony and learning all these customs and things that I’ll be expected to take on as my duties when I officially become the elf princess. On top of that, Bleu has grown even more distant and it’s troubling Loren, and Loren doesn’t need it all on top of trying to track down his brother.
Felicity:
I can imagine. Bleu just needs a little time to himself. He’s been through a lot. As for Vail, well, I’m hopeful that he may end up back in Loren’s reach sooner rather than later. I know how much Loren wants to help him.
Olivia:
I just hope he can help him. Vail isn’t very well. I’ve been studying some elves who have been corrupted by darkness as Vail has and I’m hopeful I can help him fight his condition.
Felicity:
I’m sure Loren will appreciate that. Let’s wrap things up now so you can get back to your man and planning your impending nuptials. Describe yourself in one word?
Olivia:
Stubborn.
Felicity:
I have a feeling that when I interview Sable, she will choose that word too. Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. Is there anything else that you’d like to add?
Olivia:
Just thanks for having me here and letting me talk about Loren and everything. Life has certainly taken a turn for the crazy. I still can’t believe I’m going to be an honorary-elf princess.
Felicity:
I’m sure we’ll have to drop in and see that ceremony for ourselves. Take care now!
