Character Biography - Liora

Liora

Liora is a troublemaker with a capital T and has been ever since she lost her parents at age 12. Raised by her coven in London, she frequently got herself and others into trouble during her teenage years and hasn't stopped since. Her coven leaders describe her as hot-headed, dangerous and a liability, but they also recognise her abilities with magic and her importance as an exceptionally skilled demon hunter.

She can be reckless and her confidence has seen her go after prey that were far too big for her and her team of witches to handle, a problem that has placed her team mates in danger several times and has seen Liora side-lined and punished. Whenever that happens, Liora trains harder, so next time she faces that species of demon, she can defeat it. She's an extremely determined woman who doesn't let anyone push her around or put ideas in her head, and once she has made up her mind, she can be stubborn and inflexible. She lives her own life.

She grew up visiting her cousin, Serenity, and her family in Paris, France, with them visiting her in London in return. Serenity’s friendship with Liora keeps her grounded and she is always the first person Liora turns to when she needs help or advice. At the beginning of her romance, Liora has been sent to Paris to cool off after almost getting her team members killed, and it's there she meets a wicked angel who steals her heart.

Character Interview

This interview took place on October 9th 2013, shortly after the release of Her Wicked Angel.

Felicity:
I have Liora here with me today to talk about her book, Her Wicked Angel. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Liora:
Well… I’m a witch, like my cousin, and I was raised in a coven in London. I often saw Serenity when I was growing up. Either I would go to Paris or her family would bring her to London. It was like having a sister, a confidante that I didn’t really have at the coven, especially after I lost my parents. I sort of went off the rails in a bad way when I lost them and things were really difficult for me, but I think it was those hard times I lived through and all the mistakes I’ve made that really helped me understand Asmodeus.
Felicity:
How did you meet Asmodeus and how did you feel about him initially?
Liora:
I met him in Paris. His master had sent him to take me to Hell to him, and Asmodeus was there, loitering under the Eiffel Tower, looking for all the world as if he wanted to kill everyone. I was a little afraid of him at first. I mean, the huge black wings and very little armour, and that dangerous glint in his golden eyes make for a package that screams to keep away if you want to keep your head on your shoulders. I knew about him from my cousin and her angel boyfriend, Apollyon. Apollyon told me that Asmodeus was complicated but I think he really needs to find a better word for his sort of evil twin, because Asmodeus is beyond complicated. I quickly got over my fear of him though, because there is good in him, and he is incredibly gorgeous. It’s very easy to overcome fear when it comes in the form of a hot angel.
Felicity:
*Laughs* It’s nice to see you’re as forward about him now as you were back then. Your relationship with Asmodeus is complicated, a little like he is. Was it difficult at first?
Liora:
Absolutely. I knew my cousin and Apollyon would think I had gone insane to trust Asmodeus, but I also knew deep in my heart that he was the only one capable of keeping me safe from the Devil and I really didn’t want to be parted from him. I could see that sliver of good in him and I wanted to keep prodding at it and forcing him to feel softer emotions. I felt I could… not change him… but make him accept that there was good in him and that didn’t have to be a bad thing, not like he thought it did. It was very hard to get him to embrace those gentler emotions, but once he did, well… he can be a poet.
Felicity:
You went through a lot in your romance though, some of which might have been the end of a weaker woman.
Liora:
Life definitely threw a few fast balls at me and it wasn’t easy to deal with everything that was happening to me. Asmodeus was there for me throughout though, and he did everything in his power to make me feel safe and to show me that we were going to make it through together. He’s an amazing man and I’m damned lucky to have him. Ending up in Hell a few times was scary, but Asmodeus has a way of making me forget where I am. When he’s around, all I can focus on is him… oh, and his puppies! I love his two hellhounds, Romulus and Remus.
Felicity:
I adore them too. They’re such characters. How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?
Liora:
It’s been good, but we’ve had our moments. Asmodeus has a temper and it has a very short fuse. He’s fallen out and made up with Apollyon more times than I can count. He’s trying to be better though, for me. I’ve told him he doesn’t need to change to please me and I love him as he is, but he wants to be a good man. The guy won’t listen when I tell him he’s already perfect. He has a good heart beneath his slightly terrifying at times exterior. He’s doing his best to take care of business in Hell and deal with errors he’s made in his past, and make things up to some people. It’s a lot of work though and a real challenge, and I can always tell when he can’t take any more. He’ll sit on his throne and pull me onto his lap and wrap his wings around me, shutting the world out, and we’ll just stay there for hours, holding each other… okay, maybe there’s a little kissing happening too.
Felicity:
Your story, Her Wicked Angel, is a book in a series. Can we expect to see more of you in other stories in this series?
Liora:
Definitely. There’s a pretty bad situation on the horizon and I have to help Asmodeus deal with a lot of things, both about that situation and more personal things. We’re definitely going to be popping up in future romances.
Felicity:
Describe yourself in one word?
Liora:
Wicked.
Felicity:
Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. Is there anything else that you’d like to add?
Liora:
Just, be gentle when you interview Asmodeus. He does have a short temper and I know Apollyon has threatened that if Asmodeus grows upset with you that he will step in and deal with him, but I’d rather Asmodeus not end up in that sort of situation. Stick to the nice, safe questions… yeah?
Felicity:
Oh yeah… no worries there. I’m not intent on annoying your King of Demons. I’ve seen his dark side and I don’t want to see it again. Take care now… give him a big kiss or something before you send him in. That should placate him a little. *Watches her rise from the chair and exit the room* This next interview is going to be so much fun! Not.
