Character Biography - Asmodeus

Asmodeus

Dark, dangerous and deadly, Asmodeus is the King of Demons and was created millennia ago when the Devil first defeated Apollyon, Heaven's great angel of destruction. The Devil tortured Apollyon to the brink of insanity before drawing all that was evil out of him and then killing him. He used the blood of Apollyon to create Asmodeus, his own dark destroyer.

Asmodeus is more than content with his situation as the Devil's right hand man, and has spent his entire life in Hell, carrying out his master's commands. He is happiest when torturing demons or mortals for information or fun, or merely to amuse his master. While he lived with the Devil in his fortress for countless centuries, he now lives in his own black castle in the wastelands of Hell, and allows none to venture close to it.

He is quick to resort to violence and has an infinite capacity for evil, with almost no good in him, and has secrets that even his master doesn't know.

He has never left Hell before his romance begins, and has always wanted to see the mortal realm with his own eyes. When he is finally given leave to visit that realm, he meets a witch who will change his life forever.

Character Interview

This interview took place on October 9th 2013, shortly after the release of Her Wicked Angel.

Felicity:
I have Asmodeus here with me today to talk about his book, Her Wicked Angel. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Asmodeus:
Certainly. What would you like to know?
Felicity:
Um… just a general introduction would do.
Asmodeus:
I am new to this. Liora was the first person who ever wanted to know anything about me. It is still strange for me to speak about myself. I am several millennia old, created in a time of war between Heaven and Hell by my master, the Devil. He took the blood of the bastard Apollyon and made me from it.
Felicity:
After torturing him until he pretty much lost his mind and was pure evil himself.
Asmodeus:
*dispassionate* Correct. I was created to serve my master as his right hand man and was given the title of King of Demons several centuries later. Yet, I was never given leave to visit the mortal realm. I am unsure why my master wanted to keep me in Hell. Perhaps he thought I would seek to bring war to Heaven’s doorstep as he could not and was jealous of my freedom.
Felicity:
Maybe he didn’t want you getting too powerful, with too many demons and Hell’s angels willing to follow your orders. You do sort of walk the line a little when it comes to your position in Hell and it’s possible the Devil might view you as a potential threat to his throne.
Asmodeus:
*pensive* It is possible. He has often tried to keep me under his yoke and did not like it when I left his fortress to build one of my own in a land too distant from the bottomless pit for him to reach when he is contained there.
Felicity:
So to sum up… you’re pretty bad ass and evil, and also extremely powerful, and you have your own castle. *he nods* Cool. In Her Wicked Angel, you meet Liora. How did you meet and how did you feel about her initially?
Asmodeus:
Confused. To be honest, I was not sure what to make of her or how I felt when around her. I had just left Hell for the first time, sent to Paris to retrieve a female for my master, and I was overwhelmed by the mortal world. It was noisy, and colourful, and an assault on my senses.
Felicity:
Understandable considering that Hell is rather lacking in colour and technology.
Asmodeus:
*nods again* And then when I set eyes on the target of my mission, I felt strange. My heart raced, my hands shook, and I was drawn to her. At the time, I thought I was growing sick because of the mortal realm, but have since discovered this is a normal reaction in a male when they see a female they desire.
Felicity:
You really desired Liora though, and that must have made things even more difficult for you, considering she was your target.
Asmodeus:
It did. I knew as soon as I set eyes on her that I could not allow my wretched master to lay his claws on her. I knew that I would do anything to make her mine, even as I knew I did not deserve such a pure, beautiful female.
Felicity:
Ah, Liora said you were a poet and she’s right. You do have a way with words. Your relationship with Liora is complicated because of her family and other, ah, things. Was it difficult at first?
Asmodeus:
Apollyon. *grumbles* The bane of my existence. I despise him, yet I am born of him. I wish it were not so. When I discovered that Liora was related to the female, Serenity, who is Apollyon’s, I thought perhaps it was all a trap devised by the bastard angel. It was not easy at first with Liora because of Apollyon and Serenity. They sought to convince her that she was safer away from me, and part of me truly believed that too, but I could not leave her. I knew I had the power to protect her from the Devil and she placed her trust in me to do just that, and as we grew closer, it became impossible for me to part from her. Apollyon said that she had me under her spell and I believe that spell continues to this day and will never fade.
Felicity:
There you go again, being all romantic. When you sit there, looking all gorgeous and talking like that, it’s hard to remember that you’re probably still at least 80% evil.
Asmodeus:
*bares his fangs and his eyes burn crimson*
Felicity:
Okay, maybe it’s more like 90% evil. *smiles* How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?
Asmodeus:
*smiles now — oh, boy, is he a hottie when he lets that weapon loose* Wonderful. Liora would say otherwise, but she would be wrong. She thinks I am always ‘stressed out’ about things but with her by my side, I feel I can take on anything and win.
Felicity:
Even a dragon?
Asmodeus:
*laughs — I melt a little… okay, a lot* Even a dragon.
Felicity:
It’s good to see you laughing and smiling. It makes me feel I’m going to finish this interview with my head still on my shoulders.
Asmodeus:
*sobers* I would not be so sure. *long pause in which I swallow my heart* I am joking, of course. I know Liora has warned you to ‘play nice’ with me and I have had the same warning. She believes Apollyon will reprimand me if I do something to upset you.
Felicity:
And what do you believe?
Asmodeus:
*shrugs* That I would kick his arse and show him that I am not to be trifled with.
Felicity:
It’s only a fool who would try to mess with you, Asmodeus. Besides, I know you’re nice beneath that growly exterior.
Asmodeus:
*sighs* You sound like Liora now. You two will destroy my reputation. Countless centuries of hard work gone to waste because of two females.
Felicity:
We do our best. Your story, Her Wicked Angel, is a book in a series. Can we expect to see more of you in other stories in this series?
Asmodeus:
I do believe so. There is a certain matter and a certain male that both need my constant attention and I have word that he will be the subject of the next romance in the book. *laughs* I do not envy him for his female is…
Felicity:
Spoiler alert!
Asmodeus:
*frowns* Spoiler alert?
Felicity:
Yes. I know you know what happens with Nevar in his romance, but we need to keep that secret, okay? Describe yourself in one word?
Asmodeus:
Evil. *I give him a look that says I’m not buying it* Wicked?
Felicity:
*laughs now* Liora said the same thing about herself. *his golden eyes darken, smouldering with fire*
Asmodeus:
She is very wicked. The wickedest.
Felicity:
I’m letting you go now. Go. Before you get all growly on me again because you want to have yourself a little alone time with Liora. It was great speaking to you today and I’m sure readers will love this interview with you.
Asmodeus:
Thank you. *rises and casts his hand out, and a swirling black vortex appears. He steps through and disappears*
Felicity:
And I survived with my head still on my shoulders.
