Character Biography - Serenity

A witch born and raised in Paris, France, Serenity is very open, warm and affectionate. She takes care of others and tries her best to improve the lives of the people who need her help or her friends. She'll do anything to protect them, even draining herself by using spells at a level beyond her normal grasp. She's bright and bubbly, and can handle Apollyon's teasing nature and his brute power too. She knows that she's powerful but doesn't let it go to her head.

Serenity has always used her magic for good, helping others with it rather than using it to benefit herself, and the one time she used it for herself, she ended up calling Apollyon to her by mistake. She doesn't like to see anyone hurting, especially Apollyon. They share a deep connection and she hates it when he's in pain, or has to do something that goes against the kinder side of his nature.

Manner of Speech:: Speaks French fluently, and casually, but is very stilted in English. She does her best to speak in English when needed. She often speaks in French with Lukas and Apollyon, as both of them are fluent in the language. It's a relief for her when she can use her native tongue.
Manner of Dress:: Serenity often wears summery dresses or jeans with a flowing top. She dresses very feminine and with a sense of style that comes naturally to her.
Partner:: Apollyon.
Siblings:: Cousin: Liora.
Preferred Weapon:: Magic if she has to fight.
Combat Skills:: None really. She's a witch and can use magic, but she isn't a fighter.
Other Skills:: Serenity can sense the power of angels when she meets them, so she knows that Apollyon's powers are that of destruction, and that Einar can heal, etc. She does her best to be of use to the angels, and to the world, but she's often quite chaotic. Tends to only use her magic for the sake of others, creating charms and spells for those in need.
Pastimes:: Working with Apollyon to gain better control of her powers. She's been practicing so she can do things quicker now and without too many mishaps.

Character Interview

This interview took place on August 1st 2011, shortly after the release of Her Guardian Angel

Felicity:: I have Serenity here with me today to talk about her book, Her Dark Angel. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Serenity:: Ah, I am... how is it you say? I am happy to be here. You must excuse my English. Mon ange teases me about it.
Felicity:: Don’t worry. We all know that it isn’t your native language and we appreciate you speaking it for our benefit. I’ll have to have a word with Apollyon about his teasing you though.
Serenity:: (smiles brightly) He will not like that. I am sure he will be moody. As for me... I am French by birth and have lived in Paris all my life. My mother was gifted and raised me alone, and she taught me to use my, ah... powers. She told me of angels and all the other creatures. I had never met one before Apollyon. It was a shock. I had practiced my magic and was happy to use it to help others. It was all I wanted until I met my dark angel. Now I use my powers to help him and his friends.
Felicity:: Can you tell us about what happened in your story?
Serenity:: I was not happy. Life was not good. The man I had loved, he betrayed me with another woman. They say Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, do they not? It is true. I was angry, and wanted revenge on him. I hurt. Because of my pain, I used my powers for my own benefit. Never before had I done this. I had not realised what would happen... but I cannot say I am unhappy about it, because I met my angel and he has made me happy.
Felicity:: How did you meet Apollyon, and how did you feel about him initially?
Serenity:: Apollyon says that he heard my plea... that we are connected and that it was my heart that spoke to his. It is very romantic, no? When he appeared, I was afraid. Before me stood an angel... not as we imagine them to be, but a dark glowering man with power that felt dangerous to me. I knew he was death... I did not realise he would not like that name or the others I mentioned. He grew angry with me but he was so gentle too. He wanted to help me. I saw that and realised that I was not judging him well... that I was basing my feelings on tales I had heard, not on the man standing before me. As I came to know him, I discovered that he is a good man, with a large heart... although he is still dark, he does not frighten me anymore.
Felicity:: Was it difficult to see past the wings to the man?
Serenity:: (nods) Of course. Because I am gifted, he cannot fool my eyes. I could see through his spell. I could see the black wings and armour. It was hard to see that and see past it, as you put it. When we danced... even before then... I knew the seed of love was growing in my heart for him. It was hard to accept that he might feel for me too. He is an angel. A pure being created by something otherworldly. It did not seem possible that he could love me too. When he hid his wings and came to me, I could not resist the pull I felt for him. He... how can I say it... kissed me into submission. It was a pleasant way to surrender my fight against my feelings.
Felicity:: How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?
Serenity:: It has been very different to life before. We have moved into a new home in a quiet area of Paris, and often have visitors. Apollyon is strong and many seek his help. He has tried to leave Heaven but we have discovered that he cannot. There are things only he can do, so they will keep him tied to Heaven for eternity. I fear losing him. If he dies, he will not remember me. I do not want that so I fight at his side and try to protect him so we might be together. I was afraid when we were fighting to help Amelia and Marcus. I had never seen Apollyon like that and I feared I would lose him. I vowed then that if he were to die, I would find him and call to him again... I would find a way to revive his love for me. Einar has said angels remember some things when they are reborn, and that he would help me if anything should happen to my angel. He would bring us together again.
Felicity:: Your story, Her Dark Angel, is a book in a series. Can you tell us a little about the series and can we expect see more of you in other stories in this series?
Serenity:: I think there is a chance you will be seeing more of me. I am tied to Apollyon, and he seems to be important in the series you are writing. I believe you are planning a new story now, one for someone I have not met. Perhaps I will meet him in this story and we will all come together again to stand against whatever danger is after us. I am determined to help Amelia in her fight against Heaven and Hell.
Felicity:: Describe yourself in one word?
Serenity:: Optimistic. Mon ange says I have hope in my heart and that it is like a light that guides me and also him. He says I am his light.
Felicity:: I think he mentioned that in my interview with him. You certainly are his ray of sunshine. Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. Is there anything else that you’d like to add?
Serenity:: Thank you for asking me these questions. I hope I will be seeing more of you when you write the next book, and I believe the story about how I met my dark angel is on offer at the moment, no? I think many women would like Apollyon as much as I do, and should fall for him through his story too... although they must remember that he is mine.
