I’ve joined the fantastic Snippet Saturday<\/strong> run by Lauren Dane and it’s my first week this week. Each week has a theme or is author’s choice. This week is author’s choice and it took me a while to decide what I should take a snippet from to post. I decided on Bewitch<\/strong>, which is the fifth book in my Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series<\/a> and will be out in January 2013.<\/p>\n

Here’s your snippet this Saturday!<\/p>\n

Oh, and if you haven’t read Enslave<\/strong>, you might get a bit of a spoiler about Payne in this excerpt. Sorry!<\/p>\n

It seemed she wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t satisfied with his aloof air and refusal to place her at risk by touching her. She tiptoed and touched the cut on his cheek.<\/p>\n

Payne felt that same intense gut-tugging jolt as he had the first time they had made skin contact.<\/p>\n

Warmth crept outwards from where she touched, turning him hazy, drugging him with how good it felt. His very nature said to go with the flow because the flow felt divine. The little witch could give him what he needed. Not just the method of freeing Chica from her bond. She could give him bliss.<\/p>\n

He could feed on both her energy and her blood.<\/p>\n

His incubus side and his vampire one purred at the prospect.<\/p>\n

His cut stung and he could almost feel his flesh knitting back together. Magic.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Witch,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d he growled, a low warning that he didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t like her meddling with his body.<\/p>\n

She didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t heed it but she did eventually withdraw her hand. She smiled up at him. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sort of.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sort of?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d He frowned at her. How could you be sort of a witch?<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have much power yet. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m still learning.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Her sweet voice was a melody in his ear, curling around him, petting him and feeding his desire.<\/p>\n

She stepped back, distancing herself. His eyes must have changed again, swirling blue and gold. Payne lifted his hand and grazed the backs of his fingers across her soft cheek, his breath shuddering in his chest over how exquisite she felt. He wanted her.<\/p>\n

She knocked his hand away. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t turn on the charm. I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t like it.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

That brought Payne back to earth with a bump. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You can tell when I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m using my ability?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

She nodded and moved back another step. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t like it. It feels as though I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m seeing myself do things, feel things, that aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t really anything to do with me.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Strange. Was it a witch thing? He hadn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t heard that immune females could sense an incubus attempting to use his ability on her. It had to be a witch thing.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Normally people can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t tell it isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t their natural feelings.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d His gaze tracked her across the room.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not normal now, am I?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d She stared into the fire and sighed at her melting hairbrush. At least the flames had died down. Her heartbeat was level again too and he couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t feel any anger in her.<\/p>\n

She looked back over her shoulder at him, her eyes locking with his, their dazzling silver depths enchanting him once more. Her lips parted and her pupils dilated. Desire. He could get drunk on the way she felt whenever she looked at him. How would she feel if he took things further?<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t like it,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d she said in a breathless voice. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know why you feel the need to use it… so stop it.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Payne smiled. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not right now.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Her eyes widened and she blinked. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

He shook his head. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Whatever you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re feeling, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s one hundred percent yours, and I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m flattered.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

She turned her nose up at him. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Get over yourself.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

His smile widened into a grin when her heart skipped a beat and her cheeks turned rosy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
