Guardians of Hades Book One Complete in First Draft
I’m very excited to announce that I finished the first draft of the very first book in the Guardians of Hades series today. I had two chapters to write, one of which was a nice big fight scene. You know I love to write fight scenes! I completed that this morning and then took a break before writing the final chapter which wrapped up everything in the book. The book ended up being 107,000 words in total, and I expect it to expand and shrink throughout the editing process. I am exhausted now, both physically and mentally. It’s always amazing how mentally taxing writing a book can be, and how quickly you can get exhausted when writing. I think I need a break now, so it’s good that my next project is proofreading Her Demonic Angel so it’s ready for release next weekend.
My word count for the year has risen nicely thanks to this first Guardians of Hades book. It now stands at 339,500 words written since January 2012, and means that I’m 60,500 words shy of my target of 400,000 words and it’s only just September. I’ll easily cover those and more when writing Bewitch and Unleash in the VET series. It’s exciting to see so many words have flowed from my fingers this year. I seem to go in cycles of writing years and editing years. Last year was definitely an editing year. This year is very much a writing year as I’ll be getting books done in first draft that will come out next year.
I’m really pleased with this first book in the Guardians of Hades series though, and I’ll be sharing a few more snippets with you over the coming months to give you all a better taste of the book and give you an idea what to expect from the series as a whole. I hope you’ll all like it. It’s my usual brand of passionate paranormal romance packed with emotional intensity, action and intrigue, and some big shiny twists!
Now, I had better get working on Her Demonic Angel or it won’t be ready in time for next Saturday! I don’t think you’d like it to end up delayed, would you?
Once I’m done with proofreading Her Demonic Angel, I’ll be planning Bewitch and Unleash, and then writing Bewitch. I’m looking forward to delving back into the Vampire Erotic Theatre series and learning more about Payne.

New paranormal romance books now available from the Apple iBookstores and iTunes!
As you all know by now, I’m currently moving from working with Smashwords with a lot of ebook retailers to working with them directly. I feel it’s more beneficial to me if I work directly with companies like Apple and Kobo, as it gives me more control over the end product (I can produce and offer a better quality reading experience with my own epub rather than a Smashwords produced one) and means I can do special offers on my books at the drop of a hat. Basically, it benefits both myself by giving me better control over my product and you by giving you a nicer reading experience and also some fab offers!
The latest batch of my paranormal romance books have now moved over to Apple. I removed them from Smashwords but had a long wait while they got them taken down off the iBookstore. It then took me all of 2 days to get them back up after waiting 2 weeks for them to come down. Wonders never cease.
Here’s the new links for the paranormal romance books that have now moved over to Apple iBookstore. I’ll be switching more over soon, so expect some of my books to disappear from iBookstore for a brief time while I then get them back up in their new and improved forms.

Working on Her Demonic Angel (Her Angel romance series book 5) and Enslave (Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series book 4) among others
It has been a while since I did an update post on what I’ve been doing.
The past couple of week’s have been rather busy, as always. I was working on the second draft of Her Demonic Angel, the fifth book in the Her Angel romance series. I fixed everything that really leapt out at me during the initial read through of the long novel. Some of it was hard work and required serious thinking and slaving over to get it right. As usual for me, it was the ending that had the most problems and needed the most work. It’s always difficult when it’s the ending, because it’s there hanging over my head during the edit and I want to race forwards to fix it right then and there, and that never works out for me. It’s better to flow through the story and then fix things as I come across them, because then I’m clear about what has happened and things that have already been said and done. The last thing you want to do is fix the major problems and then go through the book and realise you’ve contradicted something you already said or did in the story and you have to fix things all over again.
After completing the second draft of Her Demonic Angel, I began work on the final edit of Enslave. Enslave is the fourth book in the Vampire Erotic Theatre series. I’ve just completed the initial read through and now I’m going to find any notes I had scribbled down and check that I addressed everything in the second draft and that none of it needs addressing in this edit. I don’t think it does, but it’s always best to check. Since Enslave is only 35000 words, back to the length of the other novellas in the series, and since it’s in good shape, it shouldn’t take me too long to get this edit done.
In non-writing work, I’m putting together a huge Vampirerotique Summer Book Tour that will run from June 28th until August 31st. Yes, that’s a very big tour. There’s a reason for that though. I toured with Covet back in February, but didn’t tour with Crave, which I released in March. Seduce comes out this weekend (excited?) and then Enslave comes out on August 4th. So, I’ll be touring with all four books, and all six heroes… yes, Snow included. It’s going to be a fabulous tour as I’ve ordered in some fantastic swag for the giveaways. I haven’t decided what the main Grand Giveaway at my blog will be. I’m not sure whether it will be a Kindle again, or perhaps something different.
I’ve also been busy getting release stuff ready for Seduce, and planning other stories. My muse has been quiet recently. I’m not sure why. I think he’s feeling the pressure to perform a little, so I’ve been letting him rest. He’s started to bounce around again now though. Just yesterday, he decided to talk to me about a new series I have in the works which will be werewolf romance spanning six novels, Hunger (the next Vampires Realm book), Bewitch (the fifth Vampire Erotic Theatre series book) and other new stories that I can’t really talk about right now.
It’s all very hush hush…

Planning a massive Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series summer book tour and Her Demonic Angel book tour
I was hard at work yesterday getting on with the second draft edit of Her Demonic Angel, the fifth book in my Her Angel romance series. Between bouts of editing, because my brain often needs a few minutes break now and then otherwise it just disengages completely, I decided to plan out a book tour for Seduce, the next book in my Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series, which is due out this month.
So, I was planning it and then pondered whether I actually gone on tour with Crave, the second book in the series. Turns out that I didn’t tour with that book due to time constraints. I calculated the time between the release of Seduce in June and the release of Enslave in August, and then figured I could do one massive summer book tour for the entire series. I did tour with Covet back in January/February but I feel that book and the characters should be included in the tour. It is going to be a grand affair too. I’ve written down a list of potential posts I could write for the tour and it comes out at 31 posts. I think that works quite well for a tour that will run from July 1st to August 31st.
Because I fell into some sort of book tour planning fever, I decided to plan out the tour for Her Demonic Angel too. That one will be much smaller, more like my usual book tours, with only 10-15 stops. I will probably tour throughout October with Her Demonic Angel.
Earlier in the year I debated whether book tours were worth it in terms of the time it takes me to arrange dates with blogs, write the posts, and then promote the posts and the tour versus using that same amount of time to work on my books instead. I know that marketing is a key part of selling books, but it’s very tempting to just leave the promotion side of things to adverts and reviews and use those book tour hours for writing or editing.
A small book tour of 10 or 15 stops can often take me around 20 hours in total. It doesn’t sound like much, but I can write 40,000 words in that time. That’s another novella, or half / a third of a novel (depending on length). Plus, if I tour with each book I release in a year, it can soon add up to 100 hours. That’s 200,000 words written. Two decent length novels. Five novellas. You get the picture.
I’m going to try tours again this year though and see if they benefit me. If I don’t see much benefit in terms of sales from the remaining tours this year, I might avoid them altogether next year and just use the time to write more books.
Hopefully the Vampire Erotic Theatre and Her Demonic Angel tours will provide some positive results and I’ll find touring worthwhile and will do it all over again next year.

Her Demonic Angel (Her Angel romance series 5) in second draft edits
I’ve spent the week working on Her Demonic Angel in second draft, amongst other things.
Her Demonic Angel will be the fifth book in my popular Her Angel romance series, and it’s the second novel. I had a poor start to the week. Monday was spent dealing with things to do with Masquerade, the tenth Vampires Realm romance series book and my latest release. Because I wanted to keep on target with the Her Demonic Angel edits, I decided to take my work with me to a Starbucks on Tuesday and Wednesday. It certainly helped me get some quality work done. I managed to edit 100 pages out of 350, and also wrote around 5.5 tour posts for the Masquerade Book Tour.
I’ve made a good start on the edits for Her Demonic Angel, but today was a complete bust. I did edit 30 pages of the book, but I was at home and for some reason I was very distracted by about a zillion things. You ever have those days where you just keep wanting to do something else, and you know that giving in to that urge is the only way of getting over it and moving on?
First it was an urge to check book sales and see how I’m doing versus my targets. It’s very difficult at the moment because the influx of free books on Amazon Kindle due to the KDP Select programme has begun to have a knock on effect on sales in general at the site. I think sales are down across the board because readers have been loading up their Kindles for free and most of them probably have enough books on there to keep them going for a very long time! I’m sure that Amazon will be changing the rules regarding the KDP Select programme soon so authors can’t offer books for free, or can only offer them for 1 day not 5 days. I can’t imagine they’re happy with the lower income themselves.
After I had assuaged my fears about having to return to work (yes, I am a full time author and that is my job, but that isn’t work 😉 ) at any point in the near future, I went back to work. Edited a few more pages. Had an urge to see if it’s better to get an espresso machine that can also steam milk for latte / cappucino, or get ones of those Tassimo type affairs that uses little plastic pods. I preferred the idea of having control over what milk I use, what coffee I use and no sugar, so went with a De’Longhi espresso machine that will be arriving tomorrow.
Cue getting more editing done. Then I ended up going to my local store to get coffee for the impending arrival of the espresso machine. More editing. Had an overwhelming urge to wash my hair. More editing. Had a hankering to attempt to make cinnamon buns for the first time.
At this point, I gave up with editing. It was fairly obvious that I wasn’t in the right zone today. I really need to find that zone again when working from home. I’d rather not spend £10-£15 a day (um, $16-25) in a coffee shop. You can imagine how that adds up if you’re there 4 days a week. Ouch.
But, the edit on Her Demonic Angel is coming along. I think my concentration just burned out a little today but I’ll be back on form when I next sit down to edit. I’m thinking that will be Monday, but who knows as it’s the Queen’s Jubilee weekend here in the UK so there’s a lot of celebrations going on and two days of holiday, and my husband will probably be off for some of that time.
Oh, and my cinnamon rolls aren’t pretty but they taste so good.
It’s almost 5:30pm, and typically I’m suddenly in the mood to edit. Veiron will have to wait.Â

Paranormal Romance Books Releases in 2012 – updated!
I’ve been debating the schedule for my remaining paranormal romance book releases in 2012. Originally I was going to follow this schedule:
June 23rd – Seduce (Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series #3)
August 4th – Enslave (Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series #4)
September 15th – Her Demonic Angel (Her Angel romance series #5)
I can’t decide whether to swap Enslave and Her Demonic Angel. If I do, then the release dates won’t stay exactly the same. I would have to release Her Demonic Angel closer to the end of August, and Enslave would then be released around the beginning of October. My reason for changing them around is that I know people are waiting for the next book in the Her Angel series and I do hate to keep my readers waiting. I know I can probably get the book edited in time for a late August release date, around 3 weeks before the current scheduled release.
Of course, as I said, that then pushes the release of Enslave into October or possibly right at the end of September. At the moment, it’s all theoretical and all comes down to how long it takes me to do the second draft of Her Demonic Angel, which I’ve just started. After the second draft, it needs to sit for a while and then I need to polish it, and then finally proof it. I’ve read through Her Demonic Angel and it seems to be in good order, with only minor changes throughout and some work needed on the end and a couple of other scenes in the book. Even so, it is a 130,000 word book, so it will take time to edit regardless of how much or how little work has to be done on it.
If I do manage to get the second draft done in reasonable time, then there is every chance that the new release schedule for the rest of my paranormal romance books this year will look more like this:
June 23rd – Seduce (Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series #3)
August 25th – Her Demonic Angel (Her Angel romance series #5)
September 29th – Enslave (Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series #4)
It’s all very much up in the air right now though but I would like to see this switch around happen. It might not be possible just because Her Demonic Angel is such a huge book to edit and I don’t like to rush these things. Plus, it destroys any wiggle room that I had built into my schedule to allow for things like feeling under the weather, last minute trips, general slacking or lack of inspiration.
I am looking forward to writing again though. I think I’m stuck in editing Hell for the next few months so I’ll be crazy from desire to write by the end of it.
What do you all think? Would you prefer to get Her Demonic Angel three weeks earlier than scheduled or are you happy to wait for the original September release date?

News about Seduce and the Vampire Erotic Theatre series, plus my 2013 release schedule
Firstly, I don’t like this new Blogger dashboard. It’s just not intuitive for me and posting takes so much longer now, and it’s a pain to get from writing a post, to viewing my blog.
Now that little grumble is out of the way, on to the good stuff.
I’ve been hard at work this week, which has been less of a challenge than I expected considering that I’ve just returned from three weeks off galavanting around Europe. I like that word. Galavanting. It’s wholly underused (even in its other variation, gallivanting). I had thought I would be slow to get back into work again but the lure of polishing a book had been chomping at the bit to get to work and it was annoying having to do the whole catching up with emails, interviews, etc, thing that often happens when people return to work from a holiday.
I’ve been polishing Seduce, the next book in the Vampire Erotic Theatre series, and it has been an absolute pleasure. Antoine is really going to make you melt in his story and I think he’ll be claiming a few hearts among you all. Snow shows his true colours, in both extremes, his darkness and his light. It’s a real emotion-fest, full of passion and temptation, and wickedness, and some revelations that will have you aching for both Snow and Antoine.
And now I’ve almost said too much. I don’t want to give away any juicy details but it’s hard because I do love to share everything about my books. I don’t want to spoil the book for everyone though, so I’m zipping my lips. You’ll just have to read it when it comes out in June, but you will get a good Snow fix from this one… although it might just leave you gasping for more and panting for his book.
Next on my agenda is figuring out how to maximise my promotion efforts. I’ve been tinkering here and there with them, but I haven’t been totally committed to my marketing work and have often slacked off in favour of writing, editing, or just procrastinating on Facebook and Twitter and chatting to everyone. I think it’s something all authors suffer. We just want to write write write and play with our characters and series, but we have to do the harder work too, and sometimes it sucks. Sometimes my energy gets so low that I can’t face promoting my books. It’s so easy to get disheartened when you see no comments on posts you’ve made, or book tour stops, or the only time you get people to come out of their shell is when you’re running a competition… and it’s doubly disheartening when you see other authors doing tremendously and being everywhere at once. At times like that, it’s difficult to muster the enthusiasm for marketing. You just want to hide in your cave and write. I’m sure many authors out there know exactly what I’m talking about. We shouldn’t judge our success by measuring it against how others are doing, but we do.
I’m putting together my writing and editing schedule for the rest of the year soon and hoping that I can stick to it by allowing enough time for each project. Normally I underestimate or cut it close to the bone, so I’m determined now to make a schedule that allows for the odd off-day here and there.
One of the positive things I’m taking away from today is that my ENT (ear, nose and throat) appointment went really well and at the moment it looks as though I won’t need another operation on my ear. It’s a relief as I hate being knocked out and my husband hates it too. I think it gets to him worse than it does to me as he has to be awake while I’m in the operating theatre, waiting hours for me to come out from recovery.
I still can’t believe I had an ENT appointment today and still managed to get my polish of Seduce finished today, a whole day early. I guess I have been sitting in Starbucks for 6 hours solid though, so I shouldn’t be surprised. I did reward myself for my stunning focus today (normally I get sleepy drowsy periods every hour where I just yawn a lot and get all hazy… the perils of being a writer and having to focus for long periods, especially when editing, where the danger is that it just turns into reading) and lack of procrastinating by having a skinny mocha. Yum. I don’t need the extra calories but who cares?
Next week I’m going to be working on Enslave, and then the next project is the second draft of Her Demonic Angel. I’ve been writing down editing notes and ideas for both of these stories over the past few weeks, and have plans for how to improve them and really crank up the heat and the tension. I’m on a real high with my books at the moment, feeling really positive because of all the love the releases this year have been getting, and I’m hoping it continues as I write Bewitch and Unleash for the Vampire Erotic Theatre series, and then figure out what needs to be written next for release in 2013. I’d love to get another Her Angel series story out and two more Vampires Realm series novels. Yes, it’s going to be another five releases year.
