Snippet Saturday – Claimed by a Demon King (Eternal Mates Paranormal Romance Series Book 2) – Excerpt

Snippet Saturday is brought to you today by Claimed by a Demon King, which is the second book in my popular Eternal Mates romance series. Read on for this Saturday’s snippet…
Thorne knocked back the rest of his drink and crushed the mug in his fist. Shards of clay bit into his hand and scattered on the flagstones at his feet.
He hated being on the defensive.
He wanted to be the stronger male, the stronger kingdom, and the Fifth King was driving him towards failure, battering his pride along the way.
He opened his hand and stared at the splinters of mug embedded into his palm, feeling the vampire’s gaze on it. Crimson pooled in the creases of his hand. It was foolish to allow himself to bleed around so many vampires. Especially around Lord Van der Garde.
The vampire was afflicted with bloodlust.
Thorne raised his gaze to the male. Hungry scarlet eyes locked on Thorne’s palm, their narrowed elliptical pupils speaking of Lord Van der Garde’s dark desires. He wanted the blood. Continue reading

Teaseday – Kissed by a Dark Prince (Eternal Mates Paranormal Romance Series Book 1) – Excerpt

Today’s tease comes from the paranormal romance book Kissed by a Dark Prince, which is the first book in my popular Eternal Mates romance series. Read on for this Tuesday’s tease…
Olivia folded her arms across her chest. “Your enemy could have killed you rather than dump you at my door. I still don’t get why you haven’t just killed him before. You’ve been at war for four thousand years. There must have been opportunities.â€
“I almost succeeded once.†He began pacing again, long strides eating up the stone floor with ease. The man couldn’t keep still whenever he felt agitated and watching him pace only served to agitate her. It showed off his body in far too good a light and gave her a terrible excuse to stare. “I came close to killing Vail’s ki’ara… it would have given me a chance to capture him.â€
Olivia didn’t miss that he had said capture him. Not kill him. Now she knew why they had been fighting for so long. The prince couldn’t bring himself to kill this psychopath. Why not?
“What’s a ki’ara?†She figured it was safer than probing about his reasons for not killing his enemy.
He glanced across at her. “It is our term for our fated female… our eternal mate. You are my ki’ara. The dark witch named Kordula is Vail’s ki’ara.â€
So his enemy was another elf, and he had a fated female too, and the prince had tried to kill her.
“Do you get like a harem of them… or is it a one-time deal?†She hoped he didn’t say that each elf only got one ki’ara, but the solemn edge to his purple eyes warned that he was going to shatter that hope the moment he spoke.
“We have one fated female.†He looked away from her again, his head lowered now, his focus on his knee-high black boots. Continue reading

Pain. It tore at him. Shredded his flesh. Smashed his bones. Devoured his soul. Blood. He needed it. Ached for it. Hungered. Darkness. It consumed him.
A floral scent swept around him, invading his senses, driving back the darkness and the agony. Nature. He was somewhere green and verdant, beautiful and soothing. He could see it in his buzzing mind, and could see it for himself if he could just get his eyes open.
He yearned to run his fingers through the tall meadow grass. He longed to lift the wild blooms to his nose and inhale their delicate fragrance. He needed to lay beneath the mighty oak and let the dappled sunlight play across his tired body as the melody of the branches swaying filled his mind. He wanted to breathe deep of it all and let it fill his soul with light.
Vail forced his eyes open, filled with a hunger to see the nature that brought with it such a sweet, enticing scent.
Black stone greeted his eyes. The rank odour of mould overshadowed the soft floral fragrance.
A dream?
Had he been dreaming of nature, a fantasy so real that it had crossed over into reality? He couldn’t recall the last time he had dreamed. Nightmares were his constant companion. Never dreams.
But there was no nature in his dark damp cell. No sunshine. No flowers. No meadow grass.
No beauty.
“You’re awake.†The voice was female, edged with a quaver that spoke of fear, and a sense of familiarity.
He shifted his eyes down to her. Beauty and nature stood over him and he saw blue skies in her eyes and sunshine in the spun gold of her hair. A faint scent of wild roses clung to her. He didn’t remember her, or did he? It was hazy. Her face seemed familiar.
“Remain still,†she said and he complied only because he wasn’t sure he could move, not even to snap her neck or tear her throat out with his fangs.
Why would he do such a thing to the delicate little wild rose?

Teaseday – Unleash (Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance Series Book 6) – Excerpt

Today’s tease comes from the paranormal romance book Unleash, which is the sixth book in my popular Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series. Read on for this Tuesday’s tease…
A blistering wave of fire burned up his blood, setting every molecule in his body aflame, and he rolled his eyes open and arched off the bed, his mouth opening in a silent scream. Couldn’t roar. If he did, Antoine would come. Antoine would see the angel. Antoine would harm her.
Snow growled low in his throat at that thought.
He would kill any who touched her.
His claws extended at the same time as his fangs, and the apartment brightened as his eyes changed, burning red around his cat-like pupils.
Snow fought harder than ever to break the restraints, driven by a mindless need to free himself so he could protect the female and by a dark hunger to drain her dry at the same time.
She rushed forwards as the collar sliced into his throat, spilling a thick stream of his blood down his neck.
“You must calm yourself,†she whispered softly, those words laced with emotions that were beyond his grasp as the bloodlust seized hold of him again and her proximity drove him mad with a need to taste her. “You are hurting yourself.â€
The note in her melodic voice told him more than she was willing to say. She couldn’t bear the sight of him hurting himself. The scent of blood filled his room and, even though it was his own tainted life force, it sent him back over the edge.
“I am unsure how to help you.†She hovered close to him and he managed to get his eyes to focus on her for a brief second, long enough to see the frustration that darkened her innocent features.
Snow growled, rolled his eyes back and snarled as he pulled harder on the chains. The steel bedposts creaked under the pressure. Agony shredded his insides, liquefying his bones and stealing his strength away, leaving him helpless. He still fought like a wild thing, ferocious and vicious as he battled his restraints, hungry to escape and taste the female.
“So much pain and suffering,†she whispered and he cursed at her again, telling her in the old language to leave him alone, hoping she would listen this time.
The need for blood became too much and he sank his fangs into his own lower lip and sucked furiously on it, ravenous and unable to stop himself.
The angel left his side and he couldn’t track her. The bloodlust dulled his senses. He opened his eyes again and followed her as she paced around the room, studying her every move.
If she came close enough, he would bite her. He sucked harder on his own foul blood, imagining it was the sweet nectar that flowed in her veins. He ached for her blood even as he ached to leave her unspoiled.
She searched his room, her air desperate, small hands clenching and unclenching in front of her stomach. “You must have some blood here somewhere. Where do you keep it?â€
Snow released his lip and wheezed, “No use… like ashes… empty of life.â€
She gave him another pitying look and then her dark eyebrows rose high on her forehead, something dawning in her incredible eyes, and she approached him.
She stood beside his bed with a calm and decided expression on her face and held her arm out to him. Continue reading

Olivia couldn’t breathe, and it wasn’t only because she was drowning in his eyes and lost in the feel of his gentle touch.
Bind. Her. To. Him.
Bind her. To him.
It gradually sank in, leaving her feeling numb and dazed.
The man had beaten him unconscious and dumped him on her doorstep. Specifically. The prince had come around, injured and weak, and had bitten her. That bite had bound them together.
His enemy had known the whole thing would happen.
He had orchestrated it to make the prince suffer and make her a target.
Olivia changed her mind. It wasn’t sinking in at all.
“What the hell do you mean?†she snapped and glared up at the prince.
His hand was still against her face. Dangerous. She pulled her barriers up, more afraid of him now than she had ever been. She was bound to him. That couldn’t be a good thing. It sounded distinctly intimate and she was not doing intimate with a demon. Never again. She had learned her lesson. You couldn’t trust a demon.
“Under normal circumstances, my biting you would not have been a problem. Your blood would have restored my strength, you would have healed, and your life would have gone back to normal.â€
“You keep saying normal.†She always had been perceptive and he might be talking in a very practiced calm and rational voice clearly designed to placate people and keep them calm and rational too, but she was so far beyond calm and rational that she couldn’t even see it in the rear view mirror. “If that’s the normal version of events… what crazy one really happened?†Continue reading

The man on the cold stone slab before her twitched and moaned, the sound strained and filled with agony that tore at her and compelled her to help him.
“I don’t have power over this man’s life,†Rosalind whispered to him in reply to the incubus, her eyes fixed on his face, taking in the dark circles beneath his eyes and the hollows of his cheeks. “I don’t have the right to choose whether he lives or dies.â€
“Because the demons told you to heal him?†the incubus said.
“No.†Rosalind shook her head and looked across at him. “Because it isn’t in my nature to do such a thing. I will heal him.â€
The man scoffed. “And you will live to regret it, Little Girl.â€
“I’m not a girl. I’m over one hundred years old… and do I look like a girl to you?†Rosalind stood and ran her hands down her tattered black dress, the traditional garb of a witch on duty.
The incubus’s eyes followed them, the blue and gold in his irises increasing, and he muttered, “No.â€
He turned away, pressing his bare back against the bars of his cell and revealing the twin lines of markings where they joined between his shoulders and formed a line down his back that ended in a diamond above the waist of his low-slung black jeans.
At least he would be quiet now. She hoped. Healing always required focus, and something told her that this time it would need the highest level of concentration she could manage.
Something else told her that the incubus might be right. She might regret healing this man. If he was as dangerous as he felt, he might well kill her upon waking.
But maybe that would be what she deserved after the things she had done.
She had vowed to protect lives, to do all in her power to tend to people’s needs, and she had been protecting lives in the war between the Third and Fifth Realms, but she had also been taking them.
If this man was a killer and deserved death because of it, then surely she deserved the same fate in order to maintain the balance and order of the world?
She closed her eyes against the memories that welled up, lashing at her. She hated that she now knew how to kill. She hated knowing she was capable of that darkness. It scared her.
She feared becoming like her sister, a dark witch drawing on the shadowy other side for her power—the realm of death.

Rosalind stared at the unconscious male lying on the stone slab in the middle of the cell. Torchlight from the corridor beyond the thick metal bars lining one side of the dank windowless room flickered across his battered and bruised body, darkening every ugly mark and deep gash, and all the blood that stained him.
Was it his or had he hurt the bastard demons who had put him here?
She liked to think he had given them hell. Mostly because she couldn’t.
He hadn’t stirred in the five minutes she had been kneeling beside him, transfixed by the sight of him. He lay as if dead. Only the slight rise and fall of his chest was indication otherwise.
His hands rested on his stomach, his wrists bound by the same heavy metal cuffs that held hers. She wanted to find whoever had discovered this metal and how to impregnate it with a spell and blast them to hell. The manacles weakened her, stripping her of her powers. The only one available to her was the ability to heal, and she only had that one because the new Fifth King of the demons had given it back to her so she could heal all of the warriors who had been injured in the war with the Third King.
A war the Fifth Realm had lost when the old Fifth King had lost his head.
A war she had fought in on the side of King Thorne of the Third Realm.
A war that had changed her forever.
Since returning her ability to cast healing magic, the new Fifth King had used her whenever he had needed someone fixed, forcing her to do his bidding, and up until today, all of her patients had been demons belonging to his army.
But this man was no demon.

Here’s more about this book and an excerpt to whet your appetite.
Tempted by a Rogue Prince
Felicity Heaton
An elf prince on the verge of losing himself to the darkness, Vail is maddened by the forty-two centuries he was under the control of a witch and forced to war with his brother. Now, he roams Hell seeking an escape from his terrible past and the heads of all who bear magic. When demons of the Fifth Realm capture him, he sees a chance to end his existence, but when he wakes in a cell to a beautiful female, he finds not death but his only shot at salvation—his true fated mate.
Captured by the enemy of the Third Realm when the war ended, Rosalind has spent months in the cells of the Fifth Realm with her magic bound, forced to heal the new king’s demon warriors, and haunted by the lives she has taken. When she’s brought to heal an unconscious man, she discovers her only hope of escape has come in the form of her worst nightmare and the first part of a prediction that might spell her doom—a devastatingly handsome and dangerous dark elf prince.
Unwilling to fall under the control of anyone ever again, Vail must escape before the Fifth King can use him as a pawn in a deadly game of revenge, but he cannot leave without Rosalind, the woman who looks at him with dark desire in her stunning eyes and awakens a fierce hunger in his heart. A witch who drives him mad with need even as the darkness within whispers she will enslave him too.
Can Rosalind escape her fate as they embark on a journey fraught with danger and resist the temptation of her rogue elf prince? And can Vail overcome the memories that madden him in order to seize his chance for salvation and the heart of his fated female forever?

Desolate. Depraved. Filled with violence and darkness. Dangerous.
Vail trudged onwards, dragging his feet over the harsh, rocky black terrain, no longer sure if he was describing the bleak lands surrounding him or himself. A wry smile tugged at his dry, cracked lips, splitting his lower one. The scent of blood swirled around him, an enchanting aroma that caused saliva to pool in his parched mouth. He swept his tongue over the bitter liquid spotting his lip and imagined it to be a finer type.
One not corrupted by darkness and sin.
He had lost track of his position in the seven demon realms days or possibly weeks ago. The barren environment ran past him on repeat. Never changing. Forever the same. A grim featureless realm, devoid of colour and beauty, that left him feeling as if he had been walking in circles.
Perhaps he had.
There were holes in his memories of his unending trek across this wasteland towards nowhere in particular.
Sometimes, when the strange twilight of day gave way to the pitch black of night, replays of his time under Kordula’s spell bombarded him. They pressed down on him, the crushing darkness too strong to fight, battering him until his knees gave out and all he could do was scream out his rage until his voice gave out too.
After those incidents, he found himself walking again with no recollection of how he had found his feet and started moving onwards. Everything between blacking out and coming around was blank.
Horrifyingly blank.
But worse than the times when he came around to find himself stumbling onwards, were the times he woke to find himself doing so while fresh blood rolled down his tired and sore body and dripped from the black claws of his armour.
He killed without knowing about it.
Vail chuckled mirthlessly to himself.
A sure sign he had lost his mind and was no more than a monster now.
His left foot snagged on a rock and the earth welcomed him with a hard embrace.
Vail lay face down on the black ground, each hard breath stirring dust that choked him, fighting to muster the strength to push himself up and find his feet again. He pressed his hands into the sharp rocks but his muscles turned to water and his bones ached so fiercely his head swam with the pain. He squeezed his eyes shut and focused on breathing instead, but even that was a struggle now.
He tilted his head to one side and stared at his left hand as he curled his fingers into a fist, clawing at the dirt.
He couldn’t stay like this. He couldn’t give up. Even when he wanted to surrender and find an eternal end to his suffering. If he stayed like this, he would fall asleep and the hold the nightmares had on him would grow stronger. Those terrible memories overwhelmed him too often now, dragging him deeper into insanity, until he found it hard to distinguish between reality and the past.
He couldn’t sleep.
Vail gritted his teeth and growled as he pushed himself up, his arms shaking violently with the strain, causing his entire body to tremble and his heart to race from the effort. He snarled and kept pushing, refusing to give in to the lure of sleep. His arms gave out and he hit the dirt again. The taste of blood on his tongue mocked him. He would have been strong enough to stand if he had been feeding.
He didn’t want to eat.
He didn’t want to sleep.
He just wanted to keep walking.
He didn’t care where, as long as it was away from his past.
Vail shoved his hands against the sharp tiny rocks and grunted as he forced himself up, not relenting this time, pushing past the pain and the fatigue, and the weakness invading him. Sweat dotted his brow and trickled down his back beneath the skin-tight scales of his black armour, and white spots winked across his vision, the exertion threatening to render him unconscious and deliver him into the arms of the mad beast waiting within him. It wanted out.
It wanted blood and violence.
Vail managed to make it onto his knees and slumped, his breath sawing out of his lungs and his head spinning, sending the ugly world around him twirling with it.
He clawed at the ground, bloodying his fingertips, aching for the connection to the earth that this despicable land refused to give to him.
Nature hid here, buried deep, shying away from the darkness and the demons.
He longed to feel her again, to sense her warmth flowing through him and the peace that came with being connected to her.
He shifted onto his backside, crossed his legs with effort, and laid his hands in his lap. He couldn’t have the link to nature that he craved right now, but he could find a sliver of peace through a different connection.
The one with his older brother, Loren.

Teaseday – Claimed by a Demon King (Eternal Mates Paranormal Romance Series Book 2) – Excerpt

Today’s tease comes from the book Claimed by a Demon King, which is the second book in my popular Eternal Mates romance series. Read on for this Tuesday’s tease…
Thorne was finding it impossible to concentrate. He stood in the middle of the great hall of his castle, fighting the worst case of nerves he had ever experienced. He hadn’t felt this uneasy when he had gone into his first battle at the tender age of five hundred.
His father should have warned him that females were this complicated, confusing and dangerous.
He tried to focus on what Lord Van der Garde of the vampires was telling him about his latest victory on the battlefield and instead ended up wondering if the handsome, dark-haired male had much experience of females.
Thorne would bet good grog that he had much experience of the fairer sex.
Even now, some of the court females were clinging to the vampire commander, hanging on his every word as they stroked his arms through the sleeves of his crisp black knee-length jacket and teasingly caressed the shiny silver clasp on the front of the stand-up collar.
They seemed impressed by the tale he recounted, talking of the Preux Chevaliers corps and how they had decimated an entire legion of the Devil’s minions in return for a handsome reward from the Seventh Realm.
If Thorne told Sable of his many victories on the battlefield, would she look upon him in such a favourable and enraptured manner? Would she stroke his muscles through his loose white shirt and tease the laces across his chest with a soft caress? Continue reading

Snippet Saturday is brought to you today by my paranormal romance book Kissed by a Dark Prince, which is the first book in my popular Eternal Mates romance series. Read on for this Saturday’s snippet…
The prince dismissed the male again. This time, he obeyed and left. Olivia waited until he had closed the wooden door before she moved her attention back to the prince and relaxed a fraction. The man in the room with her had bitten and kidnapped her, but had said he wouldn’t hurt her. If she had to choose between him and the one he had called Bleu, who had looked at her as if she were a pest to be eradicated, she would choose her blood-drinking captor over the homicidal maniac.
“Continue,†he said and she half expected him to use that regal wave on her. If he tried it, she might be inclined to relocate his testicles after all. She might be human, but she wasn’t going to let anyone order her around, not even a powerful immortal prince. She had enough of that from her superiors. “What condition did you find me in?â€
“You’d taken one hell of a beating… don’t you remember fighting?†she said and he shook his head and sat on the edge of his bed. Rumpled purple covers. Barely dressed male. She could do the math. He had woken and come to take her shortly afterwards, because he couldn’t recall the fight and how he had ended up at Archangel. He looked like the sort of man who liked to be in control and hated weakness, and not remembering the events that had seen him dumped unconscious at a demon-hunting organisation were probably driving him mad. “It must have been epic.â€
The light in his eyes faded and he looked off to his right, staring at the foot of the row of wardrobes.
“My battles with this particular enemy always are.†Something drifted in his rich purple eyes, a shadow of remorse that left her feeling he would rather not fight this enemy. Continue reading
