Character Biography - Lukas

Lukas

As a mediator, Lukas is a very kind and gentle angel, quite open with others and always happy to listen to their problems and offer advice. He will rarely turn people away when they want to talk, even though he's not great at being a listener. He is dedicated to his position and to Heaven, and takes his job very seriously.

Lukas would never dream of harming a human, so when he was accused of murdering hundreds of them, he was devastated and wouldn't rest until he had proven his innocence. He lived out his sentence on Earth without fighting his superiors, accepting his punishment and searching for a way to prove he didn't kill the humans. While on Earth, he met Annelie.

Lukas is an emotional, warm, intelligent, and beautiful soul. He is always very serious about everything he does, and he supports his friends without question, and would do anything for Annelie, even fall if she asked it of him.

Character Interview

This interview took place on August 1st 2011, shortly after the release of Her Guardian Angel

Felicity:
I have Lukas here with me today to talk about his book, Her Fallen Angel. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Lukas:
Most certainly. Since you have been interviewing my fellow warriors, I presume it is acceptable to mention more personal things about myself such as where I am from? (FH nods) I am an angel working with the intervention division. We specialise in mediating and stopping unnatural situations witnessed in the pool in Heaven that records the future. By unnatural, I suppose I mean those caused by demonic activity or the Devil. I am the youngest of the angels covered in your series, by which I mean that I was reborn most recently, but even that was a long time ago now by human standards. Since I work for the intervention division, I mostly watch over the mortal realm and carry out missions to stop demons from harming humans. We differ from the hunter angels in that we are responsible for stopping demons before they hurt a mortal and they are responsible for tracking down demons who have succeeded in committing terrible crimes. Einar recently helped me by performing such a duty on demons who were linked to the crime I had been accused of.
Felicity:
Can you tell us about what happened in your story?
Lukas:
I was punished for a crime I had not committed and ended up living in the mortal realm. When I tried to appeal against my sentence, I was foolish and an outburst cost me my wings too. I was not allowed to fly. Heaven was kind enough to leave me with my wings intact, although I sometimes wonder whether it was done out of cruelty or as a test since I would be punished if I used them. Whilst I was on Earth, I lived in London and often visited a small public house near where I lived. I found the place friendly and inviting, although I came to realise that my true reason for going there was more about my growing feelings for the owner of the bar.
Felicity:
In Her Fallen Angel, you meet Annelie. How did you meet and how did you feel about them initially?
Lukas:
Annelie ran the pub where I would often go to find some company amongst the humans, some time away from my heavy thoughts. She would speak to me and offer kind words, buoy my spirits and give me respite from my pain for a short time. In turn, I would listen to her talk about work and how difficult it was to run a business, and about her life. She fascinated me. I had never touched alcohol until the night I returned from having my wings taken from me and I felt all was lost. There was no way to prove my innocence and I was doomed to live out the rest of my eternal days suffering for something I had not done. Annelie took care of me, was so beautiful and kind to me, and I realised that I had fallen in love with her over the past few years that we had known each other. She didn’t seem to believe me at first, and I can’t really blame her since I was a touch tipsy from the drink, but as I sobered up I decided it was worth a shot. All she could do was reject me and I couldn’t feel any worse than I already did. I was floored when she kissed me back and I wanted her so badly that when she drove me home, I spent the whole journey trying to figure out what to say to make her mine.
Felicity:
Your relationship with Annelie is complicated because you’re an angel and she, like many others, believed that it’s wrong to become involved physically with your kind. Was it difficult at first? Your wings did reveal themselves at a rather inopportune moment after all.
Lukas:
(smiles) They certainly did at that, and her reaction to them left me reeling. I had to fight for her, knew that she would run and never look back if I gave her the chance, so I did everything in my power to convince her to stay with me and give me a chance. When she mentioned about helping me and I realised that there was an angel I knew who could help too, I knew I had a chance. If I could bring her to Paris and to Apollyon, so she saw that a fellow angel was with a mortal female too, then I had a shot at convincing her that my love for her was real and that it was fine for us to be together. I think she figured out rather quickly that I had brought her to Paris so she could meet and speak to Serenity, and allay her fears by seeing that other angels loved humans too.
Felicity:
How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?
Lukas:
I have been working hard now that Heaven has accepted me back and formally apologised for their behaviour over my case, and Annelie is determined to find a way for us to be together forever. The trial she wishes to undertake is taxing and dangerous, but she seems bent on going through with it, as is Serenity. The two of them do nothing but talk about it whenever they’re together. Apollyon indulges Serenity but I know he has his fears about her undertaking the trials. There is a chance of death as well as immortal life… and there is also a chance of them gaining immortal life only for us to die during a mission and be reborn. If we are reborn, we will not remember our past lives, including our love for our woman. Apollyon and I have vowed that we would find the other in Heaven should that happen to one of us and bring them back to their woman, and hope that the sight of her might spark a sense of familiarity and rekindle the lost love.
Felicity:
It’s beautiful that you have a pact with Apollyon. I’m sure that if something did happen and you did forget Annelie, that you would remember her when you saw her again, or perhaps fall in love with her all over again. Fate brought you together once and it would bring you together again. Your story, Her Fallen Angel, is a book in a series. Can you tell us a little about the series and can we expect see more of you in other stories in this series?
Lukas:
There have been many stories since my one, I believe, and I have met you again in Marcus’s story, Her Guardian Angel. I am not sure if I will be appearing again in the next instalment. Annelie is quite intent on undergoing the trials and that means I will be busy looking after her and protecting her as best I can throughout them. Since the events that happened in Her Guardian Angel, the world has shifted on its axis and times are even more dangerous now. The war between Heaven and Hell is entering a new chapter and I fear there will be many casualties on both sides. They will search for new pawns to use against each other.
Felicity:
That’s a little doom and gloom, Lukas. Try to remain upbeat! You know that Marcus and Amelia can handle pretty much anything that is thrown at them, and with you, Apollyon and Einar as support, everyone will pull through this. Now, let’s brighten the mood again with a silly question. Describe yourself in one word?
Lukas:
Honourable.
Felicity:
I guess that does suit you. Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. Is there anything else that you’d like to add?
Lukas:
I apologise for my “doom and gloom” earlier. (smiles) It is difficult when the tides are changing so rapidly. Heaven is very tense at the moment. It is a dark place to visit these days, even when it is only to drop off a captured demon or return for new orders. I would like to add that I hope readers will seek out my story and those of my fellow warriors, and that you will follow us as we do this blog, is it blog?, tour thing. I believe my sweet Annelie has an interview soon. I am looking forward to seeing what she says about me. (grins)
Felicity:
I’m sure it will be nothing short of complimentary and affectionate, although I’ll do my best to get some good dirt on you. Thanks again!
